What do you all think? Should I have powered through, or do you understand why I decided to quit?
You lasted much longer than I would have done!
I think you should have quit. That puzzle is straight from hell.
Power through? To what end?
If it had been a higher quality puzzle with more unique pieces, yes.
But the way that puzzle was built, maybe a team of people working together building rows could have done it as they could encourage each other.
Well, you started with an expectation that you wouldn't complete it, so right out of the gate, we knew you wouldn't do it. I thought maybe you'd just go through it, even if each didn't fit perfectly - half the battle is attitude, lol. But you were honest about how you felt and that was all that mattered. In the end, if you dont enjoy it, then why do it? So I am glad you stopped the impossible!
I wished that you had placed the first piece that fit and moved on. It seemed like this puzzle had a large number of solutions (and not just one). However, I am perfectly fine that you quit.
"I'm almost 30, I'm done spending my time on things that I don't enjoy, that I don't have to do."
girl, that is so relatable. 😅
So true
So true
Karen is almost 30? I thought she was almost 20.
As someone who is 30, this has become my motto. Life is too short to waste on things you don't enjoy that you don't have to do.
This puzzle seems like a serious missed opportunity for a good whimsy-cut puzzle with pieces shaped like ketchup bottles, tomatoes, apples, hearts, crosses, all manner of red things. It would have been a wonderful keepsake and probably a collectible. Instead, they really blew it by making it unimaginative, cheap, and impossible.
I've only recently gotten into jigsaw puzzles, the whimsy-cut wooden ones with 400+ pieces ... and I'm disappointed that the only one I've given up on was the Clemens Habicht color gradient globe. I have an extremely low tolerance for sorting before I start in, and that puzzle demands a full sort. Also, half of it is green and blue, my least favorite colors. It seemed like a perfect match for me, and I can do challenging puzzles well. But there was no artwork, no design, nothing on it but false color matches that seemed "close enough" but still too far apart for me. (I have really, really good color vision, so even adjacent pieces seemed like they were a mile apart to me in hue.)
If CH put out a spherical globe puzzle with actual artwork screened onto it, I would be in absolute heaven. I love the feel of the plastic pieces, I love how neatly they snap together, and I otherwise adore full-on 3D puzzles like the Bepuzzled ones (although all but one have way too few pieces to satisfy me). But that color gradient globe invariably ended up with me dumping the pieces out on my tablecloth, feeling like I was undergoing Chinese water torture for ten minutes, and then I put them right back into the box. I should have spent the money on a good Liberty or Nautilus wooden puzzle.
TL;DR -- Serious missed opportunity by Heinz for a whimsy-cut puzzle, and I crap out on the CH color globe every single time because it has no design on it.
J Cortese yes, that would’ve been way cooler
J Cortese or even
a collage of foods we put ketchup on
Totally agree. They could have partnered with Ravensburger or another real puzzle company to ensure good quality.
agreed!!
I wish they had made it fun like that! Maybe even had the whole puzzle shaped like a ketchup bottle, or some puzzle pieces in the middle that make a ketchup bottle shape together!
When an expert puzzler says your puzzle sucks, it’s maybe time for a quality upgrade especially for an impossible solid color puzzle. I wouldn’t even consider the puzzle at all 😭
They're a ketchup company- the puzzle was a small promotion. Why would they bother?
@@lepotatopotato9418 @JosefinaH You both make sense, even though you both said almost the opposite. =O
You are the most wholesome Karen ever.
haha, I'll take it 😂
Not the "can i speak to your manager" karen. Just the "please let me finish this puzzle" karen
I agree!
Lol she's too logical to be a karen
She's the only Karen I trust
i don't blame you for giving up. I took one look at that and my first thought was she's not gonna finish. and yes i have given up on a puzzle before
Essentially they didn’t know what they were doing, so they accidentally created the goddamn devil.
All of human history in one sentence lmao
@@katvaughn6201 that’s way too accurate thank you
I've totally given up on puzzles that were just impossible for me to do. I'm almost 40 and yeah, if I'm not enjoying the puzzling, then I'd rather be doing something I enjoy with my time! Good on you for making that decision!
I really expected them to use interesting pieces at the very least. That whole puzzle is just a big yikes.
I would have given up, too! My pet peeve is when pieces aren't unique enough/bad puzzle cut, but a solid color, too? Impossible! I have only given up on one, with a bad puzzle cut. My dad once was determined to do one where multiple pieces seemed to match, and when it was all done, he flipped it over and numbered the pieces on the back 😂. Is that cheating? 🤔
Imagine if they made other condiments as puzzles, like a solid yellow mustard puzzle or a solid white mayonnaise puzzle 😂😂 (but better quality with MORE VARIATIONS IN CUT AND CONNECTORS)
Conversely, they’re all the same cut, so you (theoretically) could mix and match
@@samjensen392 Lol we can have a ketchup-mayo puzzle 😂😂
The white could drive someone mad. Just like the white torture room. I’d probably rather be punched in the face.
@@NoneofyourBusiness-hy5ln that's not how it works, it's not like staring at 1 white thing could make you go crazy.
You’re such a perfectionist😭 I’m sure those other people were just fitting together the wrong pieces. If you didn’t care about the perfection you could’ve done it too haha.
Been binge watching your channel btw.
Karen: Who ever did this is Satan
Me: Yeah the puzzle is red
Haha I was thinking the same thing. 😆
I’m not throwing shade but on all of those finished ones you could see some pieces raised like they didn’t fit well. We could all do that if we didn’t care if it fit or not!
Get it... shade.. wow im extremely stupid but i noticed and wanted to point it out 👍
@@lizaelenaaa you can see a slight color variation too, like certain pieces are in the wrong spot
@@juliemcgray264 yeah i was saying my comment more as like a pun but yeah
Life is too short to waste time on an impossible puzzle. I hope that your next puzzle is one that you enjoy!
Kudos to you for even attempting this impossible puzzle AND not feeling bad for giving up. There are SO many great images, manufacturers and better quality puzzles out there so go with one of those for your next try.
👍🏻
Impossible, indeed! It's a good thing you quit for your sanity, plus that puzzle is from the depths of hell.
As to your question, yes I've given up on a couple, but it doesn't mean I'm done with them. I put them back, assembled in their boxes so I can try them another day.
Karen - you are absolutely correct to stop doing this puzzle. I have worked on tough puzzles but there was always some satisfaction in finding pieces and the joy of working on the puzzle. This puzzle appears to have no joy at all so you make an impossible but correct decision. I have always preferred Hunt's Ketchup anyway :)
Imagine if the makers of Heinz said, "Whoops, we forgot to add an extra 0 to that puzzle", and the puzzle was 5,700 pieces instead. That would be pure torture/punishment
Your laugh is so cute, it's impossible to not laugh along!
I don't think I have ever actually given up on a puzzle before. But I try not to buy puzzles that don't seem like fun. And that one looks like it is torture and "impossible" to finish
I so understand your decision. Impossible was my attempt to do a 1000 piece ghost crab on a beach. It had the crab, a bit of sand and about 800 pieces of different shades of white. I gave up trying every single piece. Enjoying your channel very much. Greetings from 🇩🇪
Karen I'm happier to watch you quit this puzzle than complete it. Love your videos. Impossible
Karen. I hadn’t worked on a serious jigsaw puzzle since my first year of college over 40 years ago. Because of you, I have purchased six jigsaw puzzles that I liked from your channel. I just did the first one. I did the silver Krypt. It was so much fun because there was a decent amount of variation. My friends thought I was crazy, but the interior circle on the Krypt was so rewarding. I agree with you that this puzzle is just cheap quality and terrible design. Keep up the awesome work. FYI, the Krypt was easier when I copied the key sheet and marked pieces off with pink highlighter.
This video is so reassuring. One of the puzzles I bought during quarantine was so pretty but i couldn't finish. Half of it was basically all sky. It was hard and not fun. I've felt guilty for two years. I'm new to puzzles and didn't realize that we just weren't right for each other, that puzzle and I. And that's fine.
I love your new filming space! And don't worry about not finishing the puzzle, it looks impossible.
Karen, I've never given up on a puzzle. However, I've never faced one as diabolical as that Heinz puzzle was designed! Thanks for attempting it and warning your followers. You have earned the right to show you frustration and I appreciate it. Keep smiling and sharing! [impossible]
Great video as always. Nice way to pass the time while a cake is baking... it's impossible
I literally always hated puzzling but ive been your binging your videos and suddenly felt the need to try it out myself! so I look for a puzzle my roommate and i strated in march but never finisched and now im sitting here watching your videos and trying to solve this! lets see how it goes
I just give up a puzzle beceause I want to do another puzzle it's not beceause he was impossible
When you were laughing at the end I found it so funny and started laughing hysterically. Thanks for making my day!
I do not blame you at all for deciding to quit, it was a really stupid puzzle.
18:00 The only time I gave up on a puzzle was a 1000 piece puzzle with 2 colours and the pieces were thin and cheap quality.
Code Word: Inpossible
I have given up on an impossible puzzle before. I was so relieved when I let myself do that. I wasn’t enjoying it. I had come to hate it. Good for you! I really like the shops of those cuts, but with no picture and poor quality construction, I’d give up before even starting.
I gave up on one puzzle many years ago. It was a large Gone with the Wind puzzle. I didn’t realize it wouldn’t fit on my table so I just quit! It wasn’t “impossible” tho! I had a few good laughs with you today.
I just woke up lol and this is the first thing in did
Edit: thank you all for this many likes. This is the most I've ever gotten! :D
Thank you for watching!
Lol same
same 😂
I don't think I've ever given up on a puzzle before, but I haven't done as many as you and I've never done a solid-colour one before. The only one that came close was the Ravensburger one with the two dragons, it took me so long to do, longer than all the other 1000 piece jigsaws I have. It looked nice when it was done, and I definitely felt accomplished, but never again lol.
I don't blame you for giving up on this one, I think I would have too!
“Whoever made this was literally Satan”
Me: that’s why it’s red not because it’s for ketchup but because it’s by satan
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have never give up !
But with that red puzzle I'd probably would! 😱
Ah I wish I could have gotten my hands on this one. I'm the kind of puzzler that doesn't care how long it takes, I have infinite patience when it comes to puzzles and like to do them just to finish them, no matter how long it takes. So a puzzle this difficult would actually be a super fun project for me
Impossible: I've never given up on a puzzle. I literally spent 10 days working on a puzzle; it was my first ever 1000 piece puzzle. I want that Heinz puzzle!!! 😍
We did an Impossible puzzle once. We finally DID complete it. It was at our local mall, but bought by one of my friends. Every day we'd go and make good progress on it, and every night, one of the workers at the coffee stand there would tear it apart again. So we went one morning, just as the mall opened and stayed until we finished it. And we took it with us because our friend said we could have it. But we gave it to another friend to do. Emily (my daughter) and I didn't ever want to see it again! But it's still on sale anywhere jigsaw puzzles are sold.
Let me tell you that life is absolutely too short to do something you don’t enjoy (& isn’t necessary). Haven’t yet given up on a puzzle but I’m sure it is coming. - Impossible 🧩
I almost gave up on a Ravensburger puzzle called “ kaleidoscope”. However I decided to just work on it a little each day, while simultaneously doing another puzzle so I didn’t get too frustrated. I have to say I really felt like I accomplished something when I was done. I don’t blame you for not doing the Heinz completely red puzzle. Impossible.
The fact it's completely red isn't the issue. She's put together solid color puzzles before and was fine with them. The issue is that the lack of unique cuts makes it a puzzle that's not even worth doing, because putting a piece in doesn't give you any sense of accomplishment, and there's no "correct" way to do it even.
Ive got ADHD and puzzles like these are so helpful and keep my mind on one thought for longer than usual
You are a great inspiration...I am 28 and you have made me start jigsaw puzzles..
I have started with 100 piece puzzles and hope to reach 1000 soon!!!
Impossible! Is it crazy that I still want to try this puzzle? lol I think the Ravensburger Krypt looks more interesting but my curiosity is still strong with this one. You gave it your best effort so still well done. 😊
me and my family did a puzzle this summer and it was wooden and it had letters from a-h on the back and if we had not of found those we would not have finished the puzzle it was so hard but it looked amazing in the end and i believe it was 1000 and it took us 3 days but it was bc in it was a lake with the same colors as the part above it
I think the 57 refers to the types of tomatoes used in the ketchup
I often get used puzzles from good wills and yard sales and some are those old "impossible" puzzles that are 1000 piece scenery ones you know the ones "mountains , rivers, fields, skies. Those that have no way to do unless you just try EVERY piece.
I have a puzzle set that I've done many times before, I remember once, that I decided to enjoy my time playing with it, but I was so annoyed with every minute, I asked myself why I am doing it? It was "for fun" and that was no fun at all, I putted it back into the box , it was a relief no regret at all.
You find the coolest, most unique and interesting puzzles.
Impossible! I think many of your viewers just like your style of content, your personality, your smile and enjoy hearing your perspective, regardless of whether or not you finish the puzzle.
Karen, you are so awesome I just had to stop the video 4 minutes and 40 seconds into it just to tell you that because I just love your energy I love your smile I love how you do your puzzles and you're so entertaining that's all I wanted to say.
Yes🎉 all the time.. often I only do the parts I like and ditch the rest 😅
Always look forward to your videos! It would have been "impossible" for me to do that puzzle.
I completely agree with your decision. I once did a cheap puzzle of the Eiffel Tower, & the sky was all the same blue, with no natural gradient, & every piece 'fitted', sort-of, into every similarly-shaped space. 💙Impossible!💙 Or, at least, such a waste of time, & I'm a very enthusiastic puzzler. By the way, the first plain-colour puzzle I saw was a white splash of spilt milk, shaped like the splat, & it came in a milk carton. This would have been sometime in the 1980s.
My late grandmother used to ask relatives to give her puzzles.....but she requested they remove any artwork or photos from the box. She went in completely blind as to what the subject even was.
this reminded me of one time when i saw a rainbow puzzle at walmart and i wanted it so bad but couldn’t get it at the time .. i’ve never seen it since
that last scene you say some outro thing during put the puzzles in the plastic bag is kinda mooood lol I love ya so much
Impossible. I never quit a puzzle until I watched your YT channel. I always felt like a quitter until I heard you say “I could be doing literally anything else”🙃
Not first
Not last
Most importantly
Nobody asked
Top 400 tho
Thank you for your video on this impossible puzzle. Sometimes if a puzzle bugs you, you have to quit. I look forward to your next video. Nice work Karen!
I totally understand what you did. I’ve never given up yet on puzzles, but I’ve never had an impossible one yet!
Why a horrible impossible Heinz puzzle!
Heinz could have done what some puzzle companies have done, that is, put sheet like lettering across the back of all the pieces. This allows for the puzzler to sort out pieces into their own quadrants (A to say F). That's three quadrants on the bottom and three on top, for example. This also allows for the puzzler to know if the pieces are really meant to be together. If two pieces, let say, share the letter A and part of the letter A is on one piece and part of the letter A is on the other piece, then when they come together they form a perfect A. Grant it, it's not fun having to constantly flip the couple or few pieces over to see if they belong together. This also helps those who are perfectionist to be able to check their work during or at the end of the puzzle. As for all those who have completed the Heinz puzzle, I do wonder how many of them might still have it wrong vs might have it right. Lastly, and as you mentioned, if the puzzle is using very similar or same colored pieces then changing the shapes of the puzzle pieces makes it a tad more doable/enjoyable (if that's your thing). Impossible, you say, maybe.
This feels like the opposite of a sponsorship haha Its too bad they made it so terribly, not their best move if its for marketing >>
I mean, they got plenty of press for it! So just in terms of marketing, I'd say it was pretty successful 😂
I have a puzzle that I feel like I should totally and completely give up on, but every so often I pull it out and place a few pieces before putting it away again.
I love this video, because it ended up being a philosophy of jigsaw puzzles :-) also, it means that I don’t have to buy this impossible puzzle lol :-) thank you for saving me at least a week of my life and some money 😂😂😂
Karen, it's reassuring to learn that you aren't puzzle perfect and have limits. Luv ya! And no, I've never given up on a puzzle - generally 1000 piece - because I have criteria I follow on the nature of them before I purchase. It's like I rarely read a bad book because I preselect before I start reading.
I had one puzzle that I gave up on. It was a Christmas puzzle that had a Santa in a car driving around a downtown. That part of the picture was cute and doable. The top part was mostly white and had no variation in cut, lots of false fits. It was maddening but not on the level of this Heinz puzzle. I gave up eventually. It ruined the holiday vibe for me. Packed it up and took to Goodwill & assured them that all pieces were there. Later while sweeping, I found a piece of that white sky. Tried to take it to Goodwill but the puzzle was gone by then. Have to hope that whoever got it gave up on it too. 🤣
I kinda gave up on the Krypt puzzle on my first try because I didn't have the patience at the time. And because the edge of the gold one doesn't fully lock together (and a bunch of fake edges) I decided I needed a bit of space until I could muster the challenge and come up with a new strategy of doing the thing.
Finnally
*an actually good Karen*
you have like, i can't explain it
*she's like a usual Karen but she's the next evolution of a karen that actually has braincells and her personality isn't crap mixed with trash*
Ily so much, all your videos are so interesting and you're so cute it makes me smile! Thank you for exsisting
Once when I was a kid, like 9 or 10 or something, I got a Springbok puzzle from a yard sale called Midnight Snack. It was a giant sandwich with multiple layers/slices of bread, with a black background.I tohught it was 1000 pieces but I recently looked for it on ebay and only see a 500 piece version so now I'm not sure. And it had really weird piece shapes, as Springbok does. I tried it and gave up on it many times over several years, and eventually got rid of it without ever doing more than the edge and a little bit of the top slice of bread. Now I think I want to buy it and try it again lol. I also gave up on a couple of puzz3D puzzles as a teen. DIscovered I have no patience for 3D puzzles.
Hi Karen! Just wondering if you would consider do an updated video on how to a puzzle quickly. I noticed that you use slightly different techniques than were listed in your previous video. Thanks for your videos!!
Impossible. I just gave up on this exact puzzle for the exact same reasons. Knowing that I'm not alone has soothed my inner critic. Thx!
P.S. Did you take the finished dimensions perchance because its impossible to find the answer to that mystery.
I've made 3 attempts at the Disney Jack Skellington head shaped puzzle. I've stopped each time and said another day. I hope to actually finish it one day as it's a gorgeous puzzle, but the edge pieces are frustrating! Lol
I've watched alot of your videos but I've never seen you this sassy before! I like it!
That glorified cut up craft paper is impossible, and you did the right thing spending your time doing litteraly anything else!
I had to do the 'cheat' with the London 2012 stadium puzzle because the picture on the box wasn't what was actually on the jigsaw. Even the edge was wrong. Luckily someone had posted the completed picture so I sorted by shape and followed them!
Impossible. Loved this video. Also, I have this Thomas Kinkade puzzle, it's a winter scene and I can't get myself to finish it. And I've done a couple of 1000 piece puzzles .
I want to see Karen interviewed on The Late Show or something like that. The world needs Karen's joy of puzzles.
I was gifted a puzzle of a painting of a place I once visited, and it is beautiful, but I gave up on it pretty quickly. Too many false fits with so much of the puzzle being a flat green for the ground or flat blue for the sky. I just didn't have the patience for it, and it did feel impossible.
I'm currently, SLOWLY, working through your 3000 piece puzzle, and gradients are very hard for me, so it's a process. It's on a separate table so I can do other puzzles in between working on it.
Wait Karen. That puzzle was thaught to be a task for ALL the quarantine time ever 🙂
Looks like a miserable experience. During the pandemic..my frustration level is low. I do not do things I do not enjoy. Luckily I found your channel which is a delight. Impossible!
I rate this puzzle 0/5. I thought the puzzle was gonna have the logo on it. I was so hyped but then when she said that the puzzle is “solid red” that’s when I knew she wouldn’t finish it. I do agree 💯%^100 that It would have been much better and more fun to have the logo printed on the pieces. That is what makes these puzzles great! Also the pieces where the same which wasn’t great either.
I mean, because its a solid color and all the pieces are basically the same you can easily make your way through the puzzle without being sure if that exact piece that needs to go on that specific spot, because it doesnt really matter anyways, but that just takes all the fun out of doing a puzzle😂
I’ve given up on puzzles before and I definitely don’t feel bad about it. On to the next one! 😁
cant wait for the mustard puzzle
I am working on an impossible puzzle right now. It is "The Titanic - I Was There on Board the Titanic" by FX Schmid. The sky is shades of gray and black with the odd star here and there. I don't want to give up yet.
Hey, have you ever done one of the largest jigsaw puzzles? Maybe the Disney or the New York 32000 piece puzzles?
You are the best puzzle solver
10/10 on the intro.
You have way more patience than I do. I love watching your videos
You look just like Amy Farrah Fowler, of The big bang theory, love it
I gave up on the noble collection marauder's map puzzle. just too samey for me, my eyes were bugging out.
I’ve given up on quite a few puzzles because I have a very short attention span and if I am not really enjoying it I just drop it. I try to stick to puzzles that are less than 1000 pieces and don’t have large blocks of color and really study a puzzle before I buy it to really try to figure out if I’ll finish it, there is quite the stack of never completed puzzles in my closet that I need to donate but the same short attention span that leads me to not finishing means I keep forgetting the fricken puzzles
Obsessed with your channel omg
17:30 does that look like the puzzle has a slight gradient and some of the pieces are in the wrong spots? It looks splotchy. Or is it lighting?
No judgement for quitting! I am currently working on a 1,000 piece of all blueberries, just a little green leaves. I'm about ready to put it back in the box, but I've been hauling it around with me for 15 years and my mom gave it to me...ugh! We'll see...
Karen: it’s only 570 pieces..
Me: *cries in 300 pieces and 1 month to do*
Puzzles should be fun!! The Matrix puzzle was also a nightmare
