This channel is just becoming "lets cry about rockstar bad and how GTA isnt a racing game for 30 minutes" Seriously if you hate R* and this game so much then stop playing it. But you wont, because your whole career is built on the back of the people you cry about in every video
It also happens with tyre manufacturers. Many of the racing liveries has 1 tyre brand (atomic, fukaru or chepalle) but a lot of them have 2 or even the 3 manufacturers even though they are competitors

The only thing that globe oil has in common with gulf is the symbol wich is the "same", both are round and they both star with the letter g and have oil in the name, otherwise i've always saw Ron as the lore-friendly gulf
Ron is Gulf, but so is globe oil in some ways. Many cars and brands in GTA are combinations of more than 1 irl brand. Like how the sultan is half subaru and half impreza. I do agree that r* could've had been more consistent over the years, but ultimately their world building is second to none in the gaming industry and a few mismatches that only don't make sense if you relate them to real life are not enough to call the game a mess.
I'm curious, what else has the GTA wiki gotten wrong? I've heard from people that it's bad but I haven't seen anything stick out on the pages that I've seen.
@@MCTogs their "performance" sections on cars for the longest time (possibly still the case but I haven't checked) were complete rubbish. Not only were they full of false information (saying things like the Carbonizzare is the fastest sports car, saying the Turismo R has hybrid drive, many others), they were written by someone who doesn't know the first thing about cars armed with a thesaurus. They tried so hard to sound smart they ended up making everything they said into complete nonsense (saying "revolutions" instead of "revs" or "rpm" for example) and then the kicker is that the racing community did make an effort to go and clean up these pages but the GTA Wiki admins reverted all their changes because it turns out one of them was the person to write that utter shite in the first place
Don't be sorry. This was the best random class race so far. It was a joy listening to the story. As for the Jester the confusion really started with San Andreas and the Infernus where it was an NSX and the Jester was a Supra. Then in GTA five it was a Lamborghini again as it should be. Then came GTA V and somehow couldn't think of a better name and named the NSX Jester. They didn't really think this one through
9:20 If I'm not wrong, the Progen Tyrus (released in 2016) has a livery that is extremely similar to the Gulf-Davidoff Mclaren F1 GTR Longtail (the car the finished 2nd overall at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans), and the GTA version has the Globe Oil logo on it. It is true that the GTA livery has a bluish gray instead of the distinct Gulf light blue, but I think it is worth mentioning.
You are indeed correct, if I remember rightly you need to use a black base colour on the car to get the look right. I didn't remember it finishing third at LM '97 though to be honest, but I defintely remeber the images of one of the Davidoff Gulf GTRs blasting down the Mulsanne with the rear end completely ablaze.
I remember the tire companies had issues too Fukaru, Chepalle, and Atomic. There liveries are chaotic too. I think Atomic is Goodyear some say it's Michelin or Pirelli. It's a mess

the VL1 RON livery is black because it is NOT based on a Gulf livery but rather I chose it because the colors of it fit with the colors of the livery it was based on

I always thought Globe was Gulf because the McLaren F1 from Cunning Stunts has Globe stickers, and that Ron was either supposed to be Union76 or they merged the companies in the lore.
The RONdam all should be made into a championship, like the one every weekend or so and have a standings at the end, like a competition but not super competitive, just fun.
It's possible Globe may be based off Gulf, and they just opted to swap the colors between the brands. It's not out of character for Rockstar, just look at the cars.

No, you're right, that Tyrus livery was definitely a tribute to the Gulf/Davidoff livery that was on the McLaren for the '97 season. Was at that years Silverstone round and the car was wrecked in the wet in warm up!
There are many liveries on vanilla where they have competing companies on the same livery; chepalle and Atomic or Ron and Globe. Something that would never happen in actual sponsorship, Goodyear and BFG will not sponsor the same team.
Going through this Random More playlist to get to here and finally I find something I could rant about for days with Broughy probably with the whole Jester/NSX/Supra debacle. I'd add the whole Infernus NSX into the mess as well. Though currently my fixation is on the Euros/Fairlady/Rotary car mess of the 190z to the 400r that just makes no sense at all.

Gulf petrol stations here in the UK are owned by an anglo-indian conglomerate called the Hinduja Group, in america gulf was owned by a convenience store chain called cumberland farms that also have oil/petrol interests from the original company ceasing to exist in the mid 80's up to around 2015/16 when it was bought by ArcLight Capital Partners who are an investment firm that seem to specialise in the power generation and distribution industries.
so the ron racing colors are clearly gulf oil colors, but i think the name ron is a nod to chevron which is an american oil company that for a time, used to own gulf oil. ironically, chevron now owns texaco, which is seemingly represented in gta by globe oil haha
Globe Oil liveries are meant to be Union 76 liveries I believe. Both Union 76 and Gulf are orange and blue but Union 76 is a much darker blue. Kinda confusing but there ya go
I'm sure a lot of lore confusion comes from how games prior to GTA IV are technically in a different continuity despite some things carrying over, hence the lore Supra was named after the San Andreas Jester despite the GTA V Jester being something else. Although having said that, even between IV and V there are issues, like how the Huntley (which had been a Range Rover for years) was made by Vapid in IV, but the Huntley S is a Bentley made by Enus in V. Then there's the Virgo Classic taken from IV which was a Dundreary, but the new Virgo is an Albany.
as I did a search for Gulf Racing I see a Steve McQueen jacket that is mostly black with the stripes, I think that one car that was mostly black was supposed to be that scheme

That would be one confusing timeline, considering both a 60s muscle car and some futuristic electric Lamborghini both have globe branding, whilst RON also has a 60s sports car and a Porsche 992, which could be assumed to be in production in the current day

i think R* like to take two compnanies and and have one match the colours and one match the layouts on race liveries. Jakey's have the Rothman Colours, but Martini Layouts. Redwood on the Comets have Rothman layout but with wrong colours. so i think that sort of is what happened to Globe and Ron as well. problem is that they havent been consistent, and if that is by design or by ignorance is hard to tell. maybe they just like to stir drama.

Chepalle is pretty obviously Pirelli, how do people think otherwise?
Atomic is Goodyear. Chepalle is pirelli. Fukaru is something like Firestone or Bridgestone.
At the very least, Fukaru does more than just tires so at least it makes some sense to have Fukaru together with Atomic or Chepalle.

The Ron logo is actually the now defunct Statoil logo. Statoil used to have blue and orange colours as well.

Tbh the globe oil name seems more like gulf oil same with the logo the similarities between gulf and globe oil seem more alike. Rockstar have just created massive confusion
To be fair, the Globe Oil logo looks much more like the Gulf logo than RON's does. But yeah, wrong colours...
