Thor: makes a joke out of it
Humor is a coping mechanism and Thor has a history with using it as such.
@@adambump5297 this joke was handfisted in there, there was no coping mechanism intentions in this scene, thor doesn’t sound scared or sad but instead tries to be a comedian there’s a difference, in Ragnarok and infinity war I would agree with you but not here

What you are doing is coping for such a tone deaf scene.
@@adambump5297 Ragnarok doesn't count. Same director, same garbage comedy.
This entire movie feels like that play at the beginning of Thor Ragnarok.
I am offended…..with how accurate this is
Oh my god 😦!
That skit during Ragnarok was a better story than this Taika garbage film.
Why are you so fucking right though lmao?
Which is a real damn shame. Ragnarok was a really fun movie that felt like it was exploring a different side to Thor's overall story. But there's more to Odinson than just the jokes.
So many of these scenes honestly feel like an SNL skit
That’s probably where Taika got his impression of who Thor is tbh.
He ruined Thor
I would say “a bad SNL skit” but for SNL that’s redundant.
@@shadowdramon01All that’s missing is for Chris and Jamie to be reading their lines off of a teleprompter for the very first time while filming with zero attempt at maintaining an eyeline.
While I appreciate Taika for letting the cast improvise, they took it way too far and it ended up being like an MTV movie awards sketch more than Ragnarok.

How this could've gone: Thor returns home to find it destroyed and goes to look for survivors. He finds Sif with a missing arm, mourning her fellow Asgardians. She wanted to die along side them, but instead was left to live in shame. Thor consoles and convinces Sif to help him avenge their people and after a heartfelt speech about Sif's warrior spirit, she agrees, but the survivor's guilt remains until the end of the movie where Sif stays by Thor's side, no longer burdened by it and ready to start anew with her childhood friend.
Yes!!
simple
But than thor couldn't look like a baffoon for shits and giggles 🤷♂️
But that would go against the "men are all idiots" brainwashing psychological operation being waged on the western world by the satanic cult.
She should have given herself up for a big sacrifice at the end. No survivors guilt. Big stakes.
Finally bring Sif back after all these years. For this scene. The disrespect.
Someone at Marvel hates Jaime Alexander. If they wanted to empower female characters, she was already existing one. Why was Jane given Mjolnir and not Lady Sif? She needs redemption or a spinoff
@@suzygirl1843she did showed up in agents of shield
@@joscar062 Her won spinoff show, not be a guest star or cameo. Jaime Alexander was in a show called Blindspot on NBC. You mean they couldn't launch a Asgardian/ Wonder Woman like spinoff for Lady Sif? Missed opportunity to develop the Lore of Thor.
Thor truly loves Sif too so his behaviour is so... off
And this film fails to give us an explanation to where Sif has been all this time. We know the real world reason but not the in universe explanation.
I don't think Taiki Watiti realizes that Thor is not Deadpool.
I like to say that deadpool's success ruined every other super hero movie. They all try to copy it. It works for deadpool because that's what his character is like but doesn't work for anything else
@@corvoattano4777 I agree and that’s the issue with Hollywood instead of realizing who characters are they don’t even bother
Let's not forget that Thor: Ragnarok was similar in amount of jokes.
I am not dissing on the directors ability, it's just that he took up too much shit and didn't focus on the movie.
Just look at any of his other movies, and it'll be clear.

Love and thunder had a more, Meet the Spartans vibe than a thor movie vibe.
I was about to comment this! It’s an enjoyable movie on its own if you view it as a parody, or if you wanna throw something mindless and satire on tv to enjoy with family and friends.
It’s just that Thor and perhaps a lot of MCUs later movies (including shows) have this off-timing, forced, comedic bits jammed into them.
viking vibe for me
It was an MTV movie awards sketch except the entire cast reprising their roles.
What is a Thor Movie Vibe? cause all 4 are nothing alike.

Beautiful voices and harmony. The baritone part is rich!
The soprano lady’s voice is also lovely!
"Maybe your arm is in Valhalla" feels like a Tyr reference.
It should be Tyr. Hollywood had to gay it up.
Sorry Lady Sif, you deserved more screen time, and more action scenes, you were there since the beginning also so you know, character arch’s and stuff
I would've love to see her get more time and have them kill off Valkyrie as soon as possible. Valkyrie was such a dry character and to me never seemed interesting enough or do enough to get everything that was easily handed to her (any off screen development doesn't count since an audience can't connect with that). I wish Lady Sif was in Ragnarok or at least had more to do even in this bad film.
I know, not even an emotional anything from Thor for her even though she got the shit beat out of her.
She should have said “leave me here, to die on the battlefield, since you left me alone. Our friends were murdered. Your old fellowship that went with you to the thousands of battles you speak to everyone about. I’d rather go to Valhalla, there’s nothing left for me here.”

Remember when Thor and marvel used to be good, funny, and entertaining to watch…. Been a while
Me, someone who's stopped reading most of Marvel's comics since 2014: first time, huh?
Uhhh I don't recall a time where Thor was ever funny, Ragnarok included. Terrible idea for them to take the comedy route, it opened pandoras box for this abomination.
Uhh Thor was never good until Ragnarok. First one is painfully mediocre, Dark World is atrocious but saved by Loki.
@@devaraft uhh you obviously have never read Thor, but okay you are entitled to your opinion even if you are wrong, Thor and Chris Hems worths performance as Thor was perfect, some folks problem was, they've never seen a character like Aragon from Lord Of The Rings, who Tolkien took some inspiration from, people thought Thor " wasn't relatable " well he's sure as hell isn't relatable in goofy Ragnorak using words like " thingy " and cracking jokes when the freaking world is about to end, read Ragnorak where Thor rips of lokis head, carries it around, or when he stops Mangog with one arm, or he stops sutur by manipulating him. Thor is a serious badass, not the thing you saw in Ragnorak
@@devaraft watch the scene in Thor 1 arguably the best one, where Thor, takes his hammer summons lightning and cracks the ground opened to stop the frost giants, that's Thor, or when he says " ANOTHER!!" That's thor, or in dark world, when the cops says " she's dangerous, and thor replies " as am I, this is Thor, he's not supposed to be joking with his sister saying silly stuff like " But he can "
Kinda sums up Marvel's problems atm, maybe the success of spiderman and deadpool kinda made disney think that the whole "quippy, witty," superhero thing is the formula but it is not working at all, Thor used to be an honorable soldier who was willing to sacrifice himself for Asgard. No idea who the fuck this is.
Poor freaking Sif.
I don’t know in the comics even way back in the day they were romantically involved. She was a very beautiful woman in the comics and here too.

Marvel and DC: Lets put a joke in literally everything.
It's the guardians of the Galaxy effect
Yea I think DC bombed in a lot of their earlier films for being too serious. Audiences showed they like some humor…just now both studios are doing too much. We like a balance of humor, drama, and action.
After reading the actual God Butcher comic, saying this movie dropped the ball is the understatement of the century.

Taika really blew it. He had such a strong intro into the mcu. Then he fudged it up by pulling a Gunn… he realized the positive feedback he got from mixing the right amount of emotions and he made a sequel and multiplied the emotions times infinity, just like Guardians 2
except guardians 2 was awesome
I think Thor 3 was a mistake too. Thor 4 was the eye opener to realizing that Taika only has one joke and it was funny the first time, but he kept saying it until it was obvious that the first time it wasn’t really funny either. These Taika films are effectively Teen Titans Go. Funny at times, entertaining even, but they are not how we wanted to see our superheroes portrayed as in mainstream, as it hurts the hero’s image in the long run.

It's funny, but also shows how little he knew. At the end Jane went to Valhalla, she didn't die in the battle, she died after. She didn't even die from the battle, it was the cancer. So if someone can make it there, was only a warrior for a couple months, and died from natural causes after the battle I'm sure someone who dedicated her life to battle, and died from injuries she got in a battle would have gone there too.
But she died "battling cancer"... tee hee (kill me)
@@DR34MTH13F I actually heard that somewhere else after I posted this. Kinda makes sense but imo if you allow that then you can argue most deaths would be some sort of battle. Even if you killed yourself you could say you died when you lost the battle with the darkness/ sarrow/ whatever made you do it. Literally anything other than doing it yourself? If you didn't want to die that was a battle of life and death that you lost.
@@tonyblake7569 I had hoped that the last part made it clear I find that perspective utterly ridiculous. You don't "fight" or "battle" cancer. It kicks your ass; and if you're very fortunate, you survive with a level of suffering that you can endure. Being a survivor doesn't make you a warrior in a conventional sense. Taika Watiti needed executive oversight for this movie.

This could have worked if it was played as gallows humor from thor to break sif out of her funk. Its the "hate to break it to you" that kinda kills it.
This was a missed opportunity to show how scary Gorr really is. They could have shown a fight between Gorr, Sif and Falligar where it is shown Gorr kills Falligar and Sif. Eventually this scene comes and reveals sif survives and is taken by Thor to heal.
Perfect example of Taika either trying too hard or just doing too much. He did the same thing with Ragnarok really. You either end the franchise at its peak, or survive long enough to bring it all down in flames.
I feel like if Thor had an actual personal loss from Gorr. Then the movie would’ve carried enough weight to get us invested in bringing Gorr to justice. Otherwise, I really feel like Gorr had a point about the Gods for the most part. Like if this scene was Thor finding a dying Sif, that would’ve made everything afterwards much more compelling
