  • If you’re a Closet Confessions regular, you’ll know that I have a tendency to go wild with the scissors. Fear not - this time I’ve relied on the expertise of seamstress extraordinaire Azucena to cut up this old Alice Temperley dress and turn it into a much more wearable co-ord. Let’s see how many ways I can style this new top and skirt, from laid-back casual to full-on glamour. If you have something beautiful in the back of your wardrobe that you know you won’t wear again as it is, consider turning it into something a little more versatile…
    Take a whistle-stop tour through Trinny Woodall’s (fifteen) wardrobes with Closet Confessions. In each episode, Trinny deep-dives into a particular section of her closet, mixing high street, vintage, designer and everything in between. This is everything you’ve ever wanted to know about fashion and styling, from the expert herself.

    Is it just me or does anyone else feel like the top needs to be taken up s smidge at the shoulder it feels like it is hanging to low in the the front and in the armpits? Love the top with the wide leg pants and the skirt with with white t-shirt.

    I don't think the round toed shoes work on you either. They make ones legs look shorter. I also struggle with shoes.

    Gorgeous fabric and I reckon the skirt in particular is a winner. Only a suggestion, but I wonder if some black mesh around the bottom of the top (the way there is around the bottom of the skirt) would make it look a bit less like it's been cut off :-)

    Amazing! Would’ve loved to see it with your champagne coloured platforms from LA recently.. Love those shoes!! and perhaps both the skirt and top together, with a sheer long sleeve shirt or top underneath, untucked.. An elegant/updated boho kind of look.. Maybe with some boots instead too.. So many options.. How fun..

    It's absolutely miraculous that this apparared as I was taking a gorgeous slip dress of mine to the tailor to split the top and skirt. Think it's a great idea especially if you don't attend that many dressy events. I found that I was wearing the dress with a waistcoat on top most of the time anyway.

  • @roxysimmons
    @roxysimmons Год назад +2

    Love the skirt but as you said, the camisole is long and I really feel that maybe if you shortened the shoulders and had a push up bra it may work better. It’s just so long and dare I say, droopy. I have to do the same with my boobs otherwise everything is just so low.

    • @alteredcatscyprus
      @alteredcatscyprus Год назад +1

      It was made to be droopy though, that’s the 1920’s dropped silhouette of the original dress. She would be totally refashioning it if she lifted it. That could be risky. For the same reason, pushing up her boobs in it would be weird, because it’s designed to give the impression of being flat chested/droopy boobed/straight bodied. I love that 20s look and I think the sporty and saucy braless glam of it it suits Trinny so nicely, but I guess the question is, after cutting it, is that reading anymore? Does she even still want it to read?

    • @roxysimmons
      @roxysimmons Год назад

      @@alteredcatscyprus I know it's supposed to have the dropped waist, but that's the reason Trinny converted it in the first place. She has a long body and I think the longer straps on the top emphasise this. Just my opinion!

    I saw a gold pleated skirt in a store today that was gorgeous but wasn’t inexpensive. I know I can wear it so many ways to dress it up or down, but I live in Perth, Western Australia which is generally very casual. Is it the magpie in me attracted sparkle or am I dressing my fantasy self? I do love high-low dressing though. Do you need the avant-garde personality to go with that kind of piece? People expect Trinny to wear sequins and sparkle to work. She looks stunning 🥰

But winter shoes, that aren't boots, just can't be found...or is it that style, for the everyday, has become so casual that any "real" shoe looks as if it's for some big occasion?!
