Hi Michael, the distance of the contact and length. Tropo tends to be a little more stable IF the weather is stable but tropo is much lower in the atmosphere. If you look at the VK4OX contact in the video, note the very fast fade. That's a Es characteristic. Also, tropo on 2m over 1500km is rare.
This is a good video, but I dont agree fully with the explanation. RF doesnt reflect or skip, it refracts in the E layer. I made a video about Sporadic E also recently.
Jan 30... typical. Those of us still of the 'working class' excluded..... was 2022 Not seen any 144 Es this Summer in QG62... VK3 to ZL has had only one opening I'm aware of 🤔
Serious high quality productions
Excellent explanation! Knew what it was but could never have explained it this simply to my mates. Many thanks.

How do you know it was sporadic E and not tropospheric ducting.? Just curious to know how you can tell the difference

It's been just on 12 months since that day in January 2022 Scott ;) Nothing this summer on 2m in VK3 either.
@@VK3FS there was a VK3 - ZL 2m Es a week or two back... eastern VK3??? I think Norm VK3DUT got involved. But I could be wrong.
