I remember when Kieth died, i was just graduating high school. He was one of the few current singers at the time that i liked. If he had lived i'm sure the would have had an amazing career. Just wish i could have gone to one of his concerts, never expected him to die before i could see him on stage.
He passed away the yr I got married. Just one month later, and I cried for over a month. I couldn't believe it was true. I know he never knew how much he was loved. And it's so sad what alcohol does to tears lives apart. He would have had an Amazing career. And just like Jason up there said, would have been King of Country, in my book anyway. He will always be missed.

I remember when they announced his passing. I am not a guy who wears his heart on his shoulder, or is ever caught with some ridiculous old tear in his eye at a sad movie. But that day, and being I had always loved his full hearted music with genuine feeling and true persona of a country artist, I thought my gut had fallen out of my backside and the ground was a thousand feet below. His untimely passing, was so very hard to accept for me and I am sure for many other lovers of country in that era. Very few artists nowadays, a few but not many, have that true, natural, deep rooted countrified sound and feeling to their music, especially in this dime-a-dozen, computer generated music scores and external authors of written lyrics. There is a great, really good and openly honest documentary about him and his life, and his problems and passing, on RUclips here:

I am not one to give credit to rumors, but in this situation, and being that Lorrie Morgan had been married one time already before Keith, and being that she married 4 more times after his passing? I can't help but give credit to at least the firm possibility that those rumors spread might be true, and she was having an affair with her producer, her career keeping her away, and an obvious problem with marriage later proven by multiple divorces. Some people think being divorced just means you have a lot of experience in being married, others feel its a gold mine adventure finding the right bank (husband) to get married to.
All I can say is I think Keith died from a broken heart, and drank himself to an early grave that night as he sat alone in in the dark at his home.

Not all of these songs are Keith Whitleys' voice. I can tell you which one's are being sung by him. It is still painful to hear his voice after all these years. I stopped listening to country music shortly after his death because country music turned into crap music after Keith died, and now it isn't even music anymore. Just a bunch of crap noise pollution!
You should check out the Reeves Brothers, Joe Wortell and The Natural Law and Nikki Lane. Good Country is still out there
