Still thinking which one to buy, interesting no one has compared the two in depth. Viltrox lenses do not react well to focus rack speed, is this fixed with Tokina version of the lens?
Both lenses are very similar, but Tokina paid Fujifilm for the rights to the design and Viltrox copied it. This is why Viltrox has a micro USB update port in it and Tokina doesn’t. I own the Viltrox 56 and Tokina 33, and they feel so close in quality but feel the Tokina gives me more confidence in never giving me an issue because they have the rights from Fujifilm
Viltrox did not copy it…. Both lens are made in the same factory, they are exactly the same, look at your Tokina, there is a small piece of metal where the USB connector is on the Viltrox. Yes, as I say in the video, Tokina paid for the licence, Viltrox did not… but the lenses are exactly the same except the way of updating the firmware. I actually don’t think Tokina makes the lens but Viltrox makes it for them or a third party company makes it for both and just differs in the way of updating the firmware. Thank you for your opinion.
@@EricGibaud Hey Thanks for the input! Youre right, the lens does have that slot covered on the Tokina. However, Tokina paid for the rights to use the lens while Viltrox did not so to update the viltrox one has to plug it in. So, all in all I guess it probably is worth the $100 savings to just buy the Viltrox
Tokina has good service in Europe ,5 years warranty and I'm not sure what to do with Viltrox. Does Viltrox has any corrections in camera for aberrations?
Good point. They are clearly the same lenses, but Tokina is authorised by Fujifilm so some in body correction could well be done. Thank you for your comment
I love these reviews. In depth but not losing the point by talking for hours!
Great job! Just got a new subscriber
Thank you very much

@@EricGibaud It looks like some of the CA's and distorsion might be corrected.
I just ordered the tokina from B&H PHOTO for 270dollars the Fujifilm film is close to 900 dollars and is not available at this time.
Big difference in price for sure
