  • I visited Bricks and Minifigs for the first time! In this video, I am explaining what a Bricks and Minifigs store is, and I am comparing the value you get from the bulk pieces section to the Pick a Brick wall at a LEGO Store. My bricks and mini figs seemed to be way over priced. For there pick a brick thing . They where using cups a very small cup was like 10. Biggest one was 50 I believe. Your bag seems way bigger then the 50 cup.

The cups seemed overpriced, but the bags didn't seem that bad. I got a lot of bigger pieces, and also retired pieces, so I feel like I got my money's worth, or at least close to it.

I would kinda agree, I tryed to trade in a box of Lego and they wanted to give me $5.00 only cuz they had to much bulk already to put out

@@cenaguy1246 A classic "supply vs. demand" situation. When you're trying to sell an abundant commodity, the selling price will suffer. If they were hurting for bulk LEGO they likely would have offered more, since they weren't their offer dropped. This is what happens in every market where pricing varies in response to demand. It's the same dynamic which determines why rare collectibles cost more than common ones.

There are two more Bricks and Minifigs in the Milwaukee area. North Shore MKE (Fox Point) and Brookfield. I love that there's always something new every time you visit and while I've seen some horror stories when it comes to pricing I haven't seen any glaring issues at my local ones. Especially when there is no shipping cost to worry about and you know 100% what you're getting, no fake sellers or misrepresented sets

I was considering going to the other two locations as well! I would love to try and go to a store closer to me to see what they have as well, it will probably be a very different experience! And I agree, the prices I saw at this Bricks and Minifigs location didn't seem outrageous

I'm not sure a weight comparison is all that accurate when you consider that Bricks & Minifigs sells their bulk LEGO by volume and you selected a bunch of larger pieces in comparison to the size of the pieces you selected from the LEGO store's Pick-A-Brick wall. The density of a box of small pieces versus a bag of large pieces isn't going to be the same. For the exact same $50 you could have filled the B&M bag with 1x1 dots and blown the cost per ounce ratio out of the water, so I don't think weight alone means anything. A more meaningful comparison would be to compare the number of pieces gained, but even that approach has limitations.
The best comparative measure may be the usefulness of the pieces acquired at each location. In that regard, it appears they both serve different functions. The Pick-A-Brick wall has less selection, but when it has elements you want, they are there in large quantities, permitting you to get a lot of a specific element for an excellent price. Meanwhile, the bulk brick bins have a wide (and somewhat random over time) range of pieces from different eras of LEGO, permitting you get elements you otherwise wouldn't easily have access to, although you aren't always guaranteed to find a specific element or in the quantity you may prefer. It appears both venues service the LEGO community, but in different and complementary ways. I do not see them as competitors, but as partners who each fill in the areas the other isn't as strong in.

I agree! That's a really good analysis of it, thank you for sharing!

I alwasy like going through my bricks and Minifigure bulk table more then once i have found a rare parts that paid for most of my bag of parts when sold on Bricklink. I like how not all the good stuff is sorted out.

The SW tiles you could use a plate to put them both together on black plate, in a like sign for one of windows of cinema would probably look cool, like one toward top n bottom corner stepped, as if theatre is having a SW day

The only thing about bricks & minifigs is the price. Some are fair for sets while some others .......seen a few B&M have a set priced at 3,000$-5,000$ despite the set when looked up on bricklink and eBay is nowhere that much.

I totally agree, I saw really tiny sets for $50-80, and the bigger sets were exponentially more expensive. It was cool to see retired sets in person though!

Hi there, we just recently got a Bricks & MiniFigs nearby, well not "nearby", its still 130 miles away (one way) in REDDING calif. But Im in Arcata Calif (Pronounced "Are-Kay-Ta"). We have absolutely NOTHING here being in the "Sticks", but I donno if it would be worth it to drive all the way to REDDING, just to go there to Bricks and MiniFigs. What you think? They did tell me that they were interested in me doing a LIVE there someday (They opened in FEB 2024) but i couldnt make the grand opening since it was in winter & we have to climb 2000 ft ASL mountains on the way.

Don’t go every single one I’ve ever been to has been disappointing to the point that I’m actually genuinely pissed off leaving the store

@littlelego I would call the store before you go, to see if they have what you would be looking for. However, if you're more interested in the bulk bin tables, then you would have to take a chance on that. Personally, if you've never been to one I think it's a cool experience, but for me it was a 15 minute drive, so taking a drive for 130 miles is a different story.

There's a decent chance those dark red plates and bricks you got from the bulk tables were mine, from a disassembled Minecraft set I traded in

The best ting I have seen at a bricks and minifigs is there small builds. These seem reasonably priced. Anything else is overpriced and is only worth it for your "gotta have it" list.
