My wife have been . One of our favorite seaside towns in the UK. A great video showcasing this wonderful town. We usually go there on off season. . All the best mate.👍 Jim and Harriet
Decent video, Joe! It's crazy how the population increases in the summer. It's pretty similar for us in Gibraltar when a cruise ship docks except our population only grows by 4,000, but it's still absolute madness. Keep up the good work mate.
Great little video, I sometimes watch the St Ives webcam. I've not had a real Cornish pasty for years! I left North Devon way back in 1982 to come to Canada and have gone back for visits a number of times but I still miss my old hometown. I think I visited St Ives probably 60 years ago!
🎉🎉🎉 OH MY GOSH JOE This was a wonderful tour 😊. I had never heard of this place before and now I know because of you 😊. I actually prefer these positive reviews and videos versus the doom and gloom. That must have felt nice meeting one of your subscribers on the street. You’re so close to 10K Subscribers 🎉🎉🎉 It’s always nice to see your newest videos. Blessings,Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
Hey Carlos! Thanks so much for the support and kind words! St Ives is stunning! I much prefer to make the positive videos but often they don't get the same response views wise unfortunately. Hopefully this video does ok 🙏 hope you enjoy the future content
Good to see a UK seaside town that is still going strong, but I was sorry to hear about the gentrification; It seems to be a widespread problem in Europe (I also see it in Denmark).
@@JoefishJ Cool, you're always welcome! I'm in Copenhagen myself, and there are lots to see... I recommend visiting in summertime because of the cold(er) weather we have. I'd recommnend the canal boats, the museums, old architecture, Christiania (hippie freezone being "normalized" these years, so last chance), to name a few. If you are going outside Copenhagen we also have some stuff in the rest of the country, but the comment will be too long. 😉
Awesome 👍 I got it from Tiki Surf in Braunton. It's made by Columbia. However I will be getting my own crazy fleeces made soon that I'll be selling. So keep an eye out! Thanks for watching and the kind words. 👍👊
As much as tourism boosts the local economy, unfortunately it kills the local community. Often making towns unaffordable for people to stay and care for the villages all yr round. It’s is a bitter sweet fact.
I've been a couple times in height of season and I'll never do it again 😂 took hours to get in and out of the town. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍
@JoefishJ I'm with you there, I just feel the people need to see the horrors. Also, I'd stand with a whole pasty in my hand, just to show the pure audacity of those seaguls. Last time I tried to eat one there, my head was attacked, and when I opened my eyes, I only had half a pasty in my hands.
Hi Joe! Wow, that's pretty! Love the streets, literally, the cobblestones. Hey can you answer something for me? I notice you and others say "U.K." or "United Kingdom" instead of "England". Why is that? I know the difference, I just have noticed how few people refer to "England" anymore. Hope you're well, thanks for more great content. Jen PS ~ You're SO close to 10K! 🤩
Hey Jen! Thanks for watching and the support 🙏👍 I think it's shorter especially for titles but in all honesty you raise a really great point. Well fear not in the next video I'll refer as England. When you hear it you can say I told my mate Joefish to say England! 😁 Thanks Jen, I'm going to heading to the states by the end of the year!
been there loads of times, only snag a lot of the b and bs we used to stay in have gone now,all holiday lets now and the parking is a nightmare, still like a few korevs in the sloop inn
Yes from the Easter half term it gets really busy! I'd never go in the height of summer, did before and was impossible to get through the town. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍
It seems to be quite far from Birmingham haha. All the streets are so narrow and tight! Now I want some of that famous Cornish pasty too 🥐 Cheers from Moscow!
Swanage, across from Bournemouth is my favourite seaside town, it's out of the way , a lovely little bay, best fish n chips I've ever had, just along from Harry Ramsden's but better, and Harry Ramsden's ain't bad. I live near Portsmouth and have lived along the coast when younger but Swanage doesn't suffer from Dinghy diversity, haven't been there for a few years, but i hope that's still the case.
The gull attacks are down to idiots feeding them, they are bright, intelligent birds...revered by sailors with alot of respectful folklore attached to them, much misunderstood creatures...amazing parents too...in fact i shall go as far as to say that if humans treated their offspring as well as seagulls do then there woukd be no need for the NSPCC ......again,another beautiful cornish village full of 2nd homes, visit on a winters night, barely any homes with people in,same up near me fowey and polruan. Youngsters no longer able to rent let alone buy in the villages that they grew up in
There's an art to eating fish and chips by the seaside. The seagulls know you've got fish and chips as they're not stupid and thats their favourite. You've just got to let them know you're not going to be a victim.
The secret is if possible always eat with your back to a wall. Seagulls like the element of surprise, and will usually attack from behind. So enjoy your fish and chips outside but remember........backs to the wall.
St Ives is beautiful, I know,it gets a huge influx of tourists but a million seems really crazy - I can vouch for the seagulls too, one grabbed my bag and was pulling it away on the beach there because the seagull saw me put half a pasty in the bag….true story
Your right parking is defo an issue in high season. The best solution is to catch the GWR branch line train from St Erth station to St Ives station. Takes about 10 mins and it is one of the most scenic train rides you will ever take.
As I was going to St. Ives I meet a man with seven wives. Each wife had seven sacks, each sack had seven cats. Each cat had seven kits. Kits, cats, sacks and wives, how many were there going to St. Ives?

'One million visitors every single year' is far from flooding...that's actually 2,747 a day which is peanuts for ANY Cornish coastal resort....and across the UK coastline. Going from that misleading gen.....the seagulls: Herring gulls frequented St.Ives long before the grockles came and were allowed to eat all the fish leftovers the fishermen of St. Ives left on the Wharf......for centuries. Now, that food source has moved from the pavement to grockle's hands; can the gulls tell the difference?. Walk-rounds like this, condemning the gulls, should check their facts before anti-gull rhetoric. Who am I?...somebody who lived in St.Ives and accepted that herring gulls were part of the scene. The gulls go for the food source not the muncher; it's nothing personal.
Shall I tell you what gives you away as an 'Emmet'? Which is actually what WE call tourists here in Cornwall. The fact YOU call tourists "grockles"... 😂 Nice one mate👍
st ives is awful crap parking and fees terrible place for food and its always wind swept i can think of far batter parts of cornwall to visit plus nice swimming surfing and beaches but its what you like i suppose .

At last! Joefish visits somewhere that isn't a sh**hole! Thanks for showing us all a seaside town that isn't in decline mate. Keep up the good work.

@JoefishJ Perfect Joe. That sounds like a plan. Let me chuck you an email today, and we will sort it out.

I only live a few miles from Snives but only visit in wintertime as it's just madness from now until November.
It was really fun watching this video.
St. Ives seems to be a very lovely place and I learnt a lot from your comments about this little town.
Love St Ives a real gem of a seaside town - even better for kids coz the sea is super shallow for a great distance!
Yes definitely! That's a good point that's what also creates the lovely rolling wave that's found in the bay there 👍

Yes it's a big problem across Cornwall! I know a number of people struggling to find homes due to the second home and air BnB issue.
These 'quaint' UK seaside towns sort of remind me of the The Prisoner TV Series! Perhaps worth a trip to Portmeirion in the future?
Such a lush place! Have you done one on totnes? X
I have happy memories of family holidays here when it wasn't so touristy.
An awesome spot before the height of season. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍
Stopped in a B&B, at St Ives, last holiday, right opposite a cemetery, it was dead quiet, nice grub, but as you say Joe gets very busy..
Yes from the Easter half term it gets really busy! I'd never go in the height of summer, did before and was impossible to get through the town. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍
