Calling an appointment an appointment that truly is not a traditional appointment is the problem. It needs to be called something else that reconciles with the customer. I worked in dealerships over 30 years, so I'm familiar with everything you've talked about. I visited family in NY a while back and offered to bring a car into the dealership for an oil change at a 9:00am appointment. With a straight face, the advisor told me it was an appointment to drop the car off. I laughed and walked out. Went down the road to a different dealership and they took the vehicle right in and changed the oil. Some dealerships just can't get it together to save their business from lost profits...

Just on the appointments... Im a personal trainer and live each day on appointments. I respect my clients' time too much to not be prepared, gameplan ready, and ready to hype you and everyone else up when it's time to get started. I guess I just expect the same. Congrats on your new job though... I also deliver the hours I'm free and enjoy it!

Customers are more likely to complain than to compliment. If I understand your message correctly you are able to control most of the appointment time variables. The Service Advisor is not so lucky. Parts & Labor Availability. General Labor Shortage is a pandemic in itself. Some days are much more busy than others. General Dislike of Car Dealerships and the people that work there. Its like a juggler trying to keep as many balls in the air without dropping any. So comparing your job to that of a Service Advisor is like comparing apples and oranges. Have you noticed the labor turnover at car dealerships? Tiffany has an advantage over me because she is a lot younger and cuter than I am. That is a distinction that I will just have to live with.
