His mentality is absolutely astounding! He once said, that he usually likes to attack in both mid 500s (500-1500 m). That's crazy, but genius at the same time. Keeping up the first 500 m is fine, not falling behind way too much. Then, when the most painful & mentally tough part comes, cuz you are in the middle of nowhere, he starts pulling like a madman. It's great for your brain because you're not waiting until the toughest part is over, but you're actively destroying your opposition and getting into the lead may boost your mental attitude during the race. All of this makes "surviving" your last 1/4 of the race somehow easier. I've been trying to adapt to his race plan and as I said, it's crazy but genius. Needs lots of mental toughness to not break down towards the end of the race. Still adapting, but I like his strategy and somehow it changed my view on a race. What an inspiring idol! Calves are exceptionally useless in rowing, but strong quads and especially hamstrings are the opposite of that. You should try it no matter how strong you are ;)

Calves are exceptionally useless in rowing, but strong quads and especially hamstrings are the opposite of that. You should try it no matter how strong you are ;)
