Thank you for this video and the very accurate description of the event! :) It was indeed a memorable moment and wonderful to see how happy the musicians on stage and the fans in the audience were. Everyone seemed to have a great time. :D I´m thrilled to have been there and that I was able to experience the whole concert with so many old and new friends. :)
The happy faces of Sascha, Thorsten and Robert are something I will remember for a long time. They were as excited as we were. I wish the rest (Thomas & Bonni) were up there too, but let's have something to hope for the future...
@@taiaman Thorsten told me that Bonni had some health issues recently and had to be hospitalized, thus he couldn't participate at the show, although he wanted to.
@@DimitrisTsouanas What a shame, I went from Spain just to see them all together. Even if it was only for two songs. At least I was able to take a photo with them and enjoy Fred's friendliness. I hope they meet again and this time all for a full show.
@@taiaman When there are medical reasons, you can't do anything and it's above your powers. We wish Bonni a speedy recovery!! What can be called a shame, was the fact that our beloved Thomas Rettke is in good health, he was at the festival grounds, but unfortunately he did not want to go on stage. We respect his decision and we were aware since last November that he wouldn't participate, but it's still disappointing that he didn't perform these 2 songs. I traveled from Greece as well, just to see as many HG members as possible, even for two songs, as you did. We all hope they meet again, resolve any disputes between them and play at least one reunion full show, respecting the legacy of the "Heavens Gate"...
As far as I know, the last studio work of Thomas (along with Sascha) was the project Redkey, when they released the album "Rage of Fire" back in 2006. Ιt didn't work out, so the band's status remains unknown. Moreover, several years later, in 2013, Thomas participated in Avantasia's European and Latin American tour as backing vocalist in many songs and lead singer on "Scales Of Justice" track. Personally, I saw him in Barcelona that year and he was awesome!! Unfortunately, the last decade we haven't heard any music related news about him. I think he is a vocal teacher in his hometown Wolfsburg and also used to work at local Volkswagen. My personal opinion according to what I have read and heard from him, is that he is quite disappointed with the way things developed with Heavens Gate and with the music industry in general. For this reason, he avoids releasing new music or playing concerts and prefers to go to other people's concerts and listen to music... He is a humble and very likeable guy and we are grateful to him for the great music he has offered during the golden days.
True, it was quite low indeed. The other thing I didn't like was the lack of a second lead guitar. Heavens Gate anthems were written using two guitars and I believe they can be performed faithfully only when there are two guitarists on the stage. Bonny's absence was evident....
In November 2023, Thomas Rettke made an official statement in his Facebook page, to explain why he won't be attending the "Masters Of Ceremony Plays Heavens Gate Plus Special Guests" performance at Rock In Rautheim: "After I was officially informed that we should only play two songs with the original cast, I declined. When I told my fellow musicians that many fans will travel from a lot of European countries just to see Heavens Gate, I was told I would have a "distorted perception", although none of the others are on any social media network metal sites or communities. For me it would be a betrayal and embarrassing to only offer two songs to the fans who would come from abroad and then leave the stage after two songs. Our fans, who have always been by our side for over 35 years, don't deserve that." In my humble opinion, as a old fan from the early '90s, his statement disappointed me and I don't agree with his point of view, because two songs are better than nothing. However, I respect his decision, no one should do anything if he doesn't agree with the terms, nor he was obliged to get on stage. At least, I'm really glad that he was at the festival, I met him up close, we talked a bit, he signed my records and he was very cool and kind. Let's hope that at some point in the future, all 5 members will play together.
@@DimitrisTsouanas Thomas stood on the right side in the audience watching this show. What a crazy way to react and he has probably disappointed more fans with staying away and discussing this in public, instead of joining and enjoying it.
@@rockithoney At some point in the middle of the set, I think during "Living in Hysteria", I look sideways and 2 or 3 meters to my left, I noticed Thomas standing and looking at the stage. I was sitting in the first row in the center. It was a strange feeling, somehow sad. I think his expression also showed something like that. He looked at the stage and seemed melancholic. I'm sure everyone around there was thinking the same thing. Something was going wrong. It didn't feel right to have 3 members of HG up there performing all these favorite songs and you, Thomas Rettke, to be right there, a few meters away from the stage and watch the otherwise capable and lovely Adrienne singing YOUR songs. Crazy and incomprehensible, but unfortunately it was his choice not to participate..
Perfect, thank you for that nice Video 🤟🤟🤟

Unfortunately Adrien was way too low in the mix on both days.

Sin Thomas no suena bien ,ella hizo un buen esfuerzo pero sin Rettke no es Heavens Gate...
Where is Thomas ? The girl sings well ,but doesn`t suit at all to the band .
