Great guitar, I liked all about it, tone, color, pickups, bigsby… i think this is one of the best guitars ever made. I wish Fender start making this for everybody. Cheers.
Tyler, Nice guitar!......I own a Modern Player Tele (charcoal black) and wonder if the setup you did would work on it? mine does have a humbucker at the bridge position but see that they have a kit for that, I believe........I just don't want to invest in the hardware if it wont work on my MP Tele..... Thanks, Mike Cossey
Jackson Willette I'm not following you ...I'd need more info......what's the tail end of a B5? All I get is tailpiece.......and don't the strat bridges need routing? sorry for my ignorance.....
Michael Cossey Michael - sorry for the delay - I've been travelling. OK - Jackson - that's not right at all, or as Michael said - we don't understand what you mean - Strat bridges can not ever be routed or fixed for bigsby trems - doesn't work. The profile is too low and you don't get the string "break angle" you need. Michael - I don't THINK it would work - but that being said - it's a possibility. If you got the whole kit like I did - the (VIBRAMATE V5-TEV-2-HB STAGE 2 search on eBay) It might work. You would most likely lose the ability to string your guitar through the body (which you wouldn't need anymore cause..bigsby) You would need to fill and re-drill holes for the bridge (hard-tail strat-style bridge like the Modern Player Tele has - will have 3 holes, Vibramate has 4) - and it would all center around whether the Vibramate bridge would still let your saddles sit in the correct spot (24.5" from the nut...If I'm remembering my tele scale length correctly) If that last part is true - you should be good to go!
Tyler Johnson I looked closely at the OEM bridge on my MP Tele and it has just 3 mounting screws and the kits have 4 ..so I guess it's a no-go..unless (possibly) if I drilled..........dang!
Hey Jim - I got the router attachment for the Dremel - i took the inlays I had already cut - (forgot where I got the dimensions...). I lined them up down the center of the neck - and centered them between frets. Then I penciled them in and routed very slowly and carefully. If had a choice - and the right tools - I would've done it differently. I don't recommend doing this with frets on...it's a pain! But it was a learning experience. It's WAY better to do this with the fretboard before it is radiused and attached to the neck.
Loved your comment - and I put a Fender logo on it for the same reason they put a Fender logo on their guitars...It's a Fender design, from top to bottom - but with my tweaks. They deserve the logo on the headstock. I'm biased - (VERY). But when people take a Fender design and build the exact same thing - then put their name on it - I get more offended by that than putting a Fender logo on a guitar that wasn't built in a Fender factory. It's a polarizing argument - but that's my view.
I did it myself with my first couple builds, more as something to hide behind. I'm in the process of converting one of them into my own shape and logo. But to each their own. Also, you've sold me on that Xtrem from the other video. (B5's out of the budget)
Hi there. I'm looking to install a bigsby onto my thinline modern player. I have the bigsby but am not sure what bridge to use! Any help would be greatly appreciated
Max Wheatley Music Depends on how little work you want to do. If you go with the standard Tele/Bigsby setup - You'll need to route and have a totally different bridge setup, re-adjust the neck angle, etc. OR you can use the Vibramate stuff and it's ALMOST a drop-in replacement. I think you want the V5-TEV (or one of the variations).
+Tyler Johnson This is exactly my question as I'm considering doing the same to my MP Thinline. What I'm wondering tho', is if a MP Thinline can support a Bigsby attached directly to the body. In other words, is there enough meat/wood for the Bigsby screws to dig into? Great build/mod btw!
Great work, great sound. Love the switching, love the pearl. Like Mae West said "Too much of a good thing is wonderful"
What a wonderful inspiring video thank you for uploading this

Gorgeous! Nice work.
Is this guitar sonicly much different than the Xavier? What's the difference between them? From your perspective

On using a Dremel to rout the neck inlays, did you use some sort of template, if so was it homemade or can you buy one somewhere?

Where did you get the body and neck?
My only question would be after putting so much effort, work, and heart into it why did you give Fender credit by slapping their logo on there?
