- How to Apply for a French Student Visa (VLS-TS) Visa Long Sejour
Countries with Campus France or following EEF procedures:
Algeria, Argentina, Benign, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ivory Coast, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, United States, Vietnam.
Step 1: Check which type of Visa you need
After you fill in your personal information, you’ll see the documents required and you can also start your application by filling out the form in the portal.
Visa Wizard: france-visas.gouv.fr/en_US/we...
Step 2: Create an account and fill in the Application Form.
Once you have filled this in, you can submit. Print out the application form, sign and put the date on it.
You will also get the French Visa Receipt so it will contain the ref number.
1. It’s a separate document from the checklist.
2. It can also have your requirement checklist beneath the visa form.
Step 3: Book an Appointment with VFS
visa.vfsglobal.com/are/en/deu...
• minimum of 15 working days (for complete application files)
• incomplete files/insufficient documents will cause a delay in processing and may result in the refusal of the application
• Plan your application ahead to avoid any delays and issues in your travel plans
Step 4: Book a pre-consular interview!!!
Email subject: (Pre-consular interview) Appointment request
Send the message to manille@campusfrance.org
- CV one page
- Acceptance letter by the French university (or registration/enrollment certificate)
www.philippines.campusfrance....
After the interview, you will receive a certification that you have completed your pre-consular interview that you need to submit to VFS.
Step 5: Go to your visa appointment with complete requirements!!!
The supporting documents to be provided are as follows:
• Pre-requisites
o Application form dated and signed
o A travel document, issued less than 10 years ago, containing at least two blank pages, with a period of validity at least 3 months longer than the date on which you intend to leave the Schengen Area or, in the case of a long stay, at least three months longer than the expiry date of the visa requested.
o France-Visas receipt.
o ID photograph
o Pre-consular interview certification
o Offii Form: www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/IMG/pd...
o If you are not a national of your country of residence: proof that you are legally resident in that country (e.g. residence permit)
• Purpose of travel/stay
o Country following the EEF-Études en France procedure: Certificate of pre-registration generated by the EEF-Pastel application, stating the EEF ID number. Country outside of the EEF-Études en France procedure: Certificate of pre-registration (or registration) in an establishment of higher education or training.
o Last completed degree (countries out of procedure "CEF - Studies in France")
• Accommodation
o Proof of accommodation for the first three months: hotel reservation or statement/undertaking from the host (establishment/institution or private individual) or explanatory letter from the student.
• Funds
o Proof of a minimum monthly income of €615: certificate of scholarship or bank statement showing a deposit in a French bank account or an undertaking to accept financial liability from a guarantor who must provide proof of adequate, reliable and regular income, as well as a copy of their ID document.
Visa cost : 99 euros (€), (50 euros if you’re in an EEF procedure country)
Step 6: Wait for the visa decision. If you live outside Metro Manila, you can request for shipping for a fee.
In my experience, it took less than 15 days to get the decision.
If you get your visa, then you can now prepare for your departure to France!
You will receive your passport with the visa and the OFII form with the embassy stamps. Please do step 5 upon arrival in France
If your visa gets rejected, you can always submit for appeal. The instructions on how to appeal will be on your visa decision letter.
Step 7: When you arrive in France, you have to register with your local prefecture.
Submit your OFII form to the prefecture. You can ask help from your international office!
You will need to get a vignette from the prefecture to make your visa valid. You have to do this within the first 3 months of arrival.
- OFII form stamped by the embassy - www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/IMG/pd...
- Passport copy
- ID photo
- Certificate of residence
They will send you an appointment letter. During your appointment, bring:
- Timbre - you have to pay for atimbre online.

This is very concise and helpful Meryll!! Good job for putting this together. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very very informative! 💯 Thanks for giving us an idea of this whole thing, Merryll! This is very helpful. 😊
Super detailed and full of information, this will be very helpful to some people!

You have done a spectacular job at explaining this and love how you added the things that are not in the paper and that people do dont tell you about!!
Wow! This was an awesome video! I always wanted to study in France but never knew how. Such an interesting process and so so helpful!! 🥰

So nice of you to make this kind of video, could be life changing to know such things. You explained so well too!
This was so thorough and you explained all the visa application steps so well. I know someone interested in studying in France and will for sure be passing along this video to her. Thank you so much for putting this video checklist together!
This was a really great video for people looking for information it seems really complex getting a Visa!
Thank for sharing the detailed steps that you took in applied for a student visa for France. I too studied abroad in France and while I don’t remember the application process, I’ll say that it is definitely an experience of a lifetime! Congrats and have fun!
I love how you explained every step in detail.

I been to your situation also, getting a visa but here in Finland. I started with a student visa and if I will plan to move to France, your information is a big help to me. Thank you for this.

@Kohen Ryker you are welcome xD
Love ur voiceeeee talaga ate hihi🥰❤️

I hear for the first time about showing your ears in the picture for visa. Why is that? It is a very explanatory video, I like such videos with all the details and step by step guidance. I have once applied for travel visa for the US and got it just a few days before the date of flight. It was quite a challenge but somehow I felt that I was going to get it ☺
This is very helpful. We never know baka I’ll find my prince charming in France 😂 Lol! 😘 Btaw thank you for this video! I’ll tale note of it.
Hello po! Saw your video and I appreciate how detailed it is. I would like to ask if there is a need to get a medical exam for the visa or for the resident permit?
Very informative ate! 🤩 For sure this will help those aspiring students who want to study abroad specially sa France. GOOD JOB ON THIS. *Big thumbs up* 👍
Hello Meryll, did you pay a downpayment for the explanatory letter? I’m checking my options for proof of accommodation for my student visa application this Dec. 🙂
hello sister new fun here from Gemany .. lets support eac and stay connected .............
Hi! Thank you for this informative video. I just wanted to ask if you did submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your university here in the Philippines? Thank you.
Hi! What is the NOC for? I did not submit that because it was not on the list.
Hi! I send an email to campus france for requesting a consular interview..
Usually, how long will it take for the campus france to reply ?
🥰🥰🥰♥️
Michelle Into Myrvoll after a billion years, nabuhat na gud naku ni 🤣 mura kog nag rap sa video sa kadaghan dapat ingnon hahaha
Hello Meryll! I'm Nikko from the Philippines. I just had an online orientation with Campus France along with other Filipino students going to France. I will have my VFS Interview tomorrow. Seeking for prayers, please. I already have the documents I need and I already paid two months of my apartment rent. I wish my visa will be approved. Btw, I'm also from Ateneo but it's in English already. We were told by Campus France to have our NSO and other necessary documents to be translated into French as we need it for our registration and documentary procedures. Thank you for the advice!
I'm hoping I could have my visa approved within 10 days too as my target departure in the last week of August.
Hi Nikko! I’m so excited for you!!! Which uni are you going to?
Yes! definitely translate your birth certificate, you need it for CAF and other subsidies for students ☺️
@@MeryllGoRound I'm going to the European Business School. It's now under INSEEC Groupe. I'll be taking Global MBA and a good thing it's an English Program. Actually, I don't have scholarship here. In other schools that I got admitted offered me scholarships. But, I was looking forward to their school coz the program has a holistic approach. 1st Term will be at EBS Paris (fundamentals and more major subjects), 2nd Term I get a chance to look for schools outside France but if not, I can take a specialisation (not sure if this is already a double degree), 3rd/Last Term is the paid internship. A total of 18 months.
Sometimes, whenever I check other schools' emails on the scholarships I got offered, I regret a bit but I think I'm on the right track. Merci beaucoup. :)
Nikko Elnar MBA is definitely a good choice! I believe INSEEC is a grande ecole so I think it will be worth it! I’m also considering taking a second master, maybe an MBA in a few years (there’s a minimum req of work experience usually and I got my first job in Paris haha)
Let me know if you have any other questions ☺️
@@MeryllGoRound Thank you. I'm actually thinking if I don't get admitted in the overseas schools I've applied, I might end up here at Ateneo Rockwell. But, I was looking for cultural diversity and I wanted to extend network from the ASEAN to the Western Side.
You know what I didn't have any GMAT/GRE, IELTS/TOEFL (since I already Mode of Engish Instruction from the Ateneo that I just got last Friday due to lockdown delays). That's why whenever a foreigner applies for a program outside his/her country, better look for programs already in English and with fewer requirements to make life easier. But, I think only few private schools/universities do this.
But, for the public universities, they require so much and one needs to have B1/B2 Certs and the aforementioned docs I've mentioned. Good thing I did some research. Also, even though I was also ambitious about getting into a top business school/uni, I just preferred a school that fits my character. Hope we could catch up. WIll check your other vids too!
I'm just really nervous about tomorrow. I need to make it. I've already resigned from my work :(
Very informative!!
Napaisip lang ako, is it required to have the show money of €600+ per month for two years(full duration of masters)? Or will 1 year be enough.
Also. Will the full tuition be included dapat sa bank as show money?
Thanks again Meryll!
during my time, it was 1 year bc we were only given 1 year visas (even with 2 year programmes)
you have to renew for 2nd year in France bc they also want to check if you have actually been attending class
regarding the tuition fee, it’s not part of the show money
personally, as long as you show you can afford it or your parents can support you it should be fine 🤗
@@MeryllGoRound thank you again! Sana ganon padin para di super laki. Cheers!
what I did was show money + notarized certificate of support, income tax, payslips and bank statements of my parent 🤗 yun talaga sure 😂
Can you please tell me what this is? Is it the first message you get when you paid for it or the message where it says you have been accepted? or neither? country following the EEF-Études en France procedure: Certificate of pre-registration generated by the EEF-Pastel application, stating the EEF ID number. Country outside of the EEF-Études en France procedure: Certificate of pre-registration (or registration) in an establishment of higher education or training.
Hello! So sorry, I just saw your comment. I just showed my acceptance certificate during my time. If you're from PH, we are a non-EEF country
How many weeks/days before start of school can the visa start? Does it have an official start date?
I think I was given a week before but I think you can request to have it earlier.
Did you need to get your birth certificate translated to French and legalized by the French embassy?
It's always good to have it. Personally, I had mine translated in France but I know people who had theirs apostilled and translated by Alliance Francaise
dream q talaga magcollege sa France hoho
kaya yan!!! ☺️ are you still in high school? ☺️
Opo 9th grade hshe
Pillows hihi practice french na! kahit self-study lang 🤗
Bonjour! I have a question where did you submit your documents when applying a long stay visa. Is it VFS or france embassy. In my case I have already Letter from prefecture of my visa.
Hi! My visa appointment was with VFS.
But for students, the pre-consular interview in the French embassy is required.
All visa appointments all VFS
Yes, we interview by French embassy before we got married here in Philippines
@@maritesvalencia6080 yes so I guess the visa application appointment is through VFS. I think all visa applications are done through VFS in the Philippines ☺️
Merci! Ms Meryll
One Question! What if your studies only last 7 month do I still need to show a 12 month worth for my fund?
well technically our studies usually just last 9 months per year (bc of summer) but we still need to show 12 mos of funds so I would say yes. It’s better to have more than less
Thank You for the reply!🙂 Gonna apply next month so making sure everything is good before I go to the embassy, You’re video was a big help as well!
@@zache188 good luck!!!
Bonjour,
I came here last year oct but i dont have offi how can i get offi because i have minuer schlorise visa and i apply in online but its inccorect pleaee suggest me i have to renew my visa in dec
bonjour ☺️ what’s your nationality? I think it depends on nationality and type of visa, I know some of my classmates did not have to go to OFII. what did the embassy tell you?
@@MeryllGoRound i am nepali they say notthinh that the problem now for me now i have to renew my visa in dec but still i dont have offi number😞 i can tried a lot of time through onlone but its incorrect
@@MeryllGoRound i came here under age of 18 so that why i had a problem i went prefecture in last dec 2019 but at that time they said in french language i dont about french language too much but still shell i go prefecture to demand my offi ?
@@sunima-gurung Hi Sunima, we have completely different situations. In my case I was given an ofii form when visa was given and I was required to go to the prefecture within 3 months. It’s bc I have the Visa long séjour. It would be best to ask your prefecture regarding your case.
can you message me on instagram @meryll_go_round ? I can try to help you research!
Hello sis ask ko lang if sa Pinas kaba nag exit papunta ng France?
Anong itinatanong at hinanap sayo ng Immigration pag student visa ang hawak? Salamat
Hi! Yes I came from PH 😊
normally yung files mo lang from the visa appointment.... but tbh they didn’t check my files at the immigration

hi paano po pag K12 graduate lang and want mag study ng french language sa france, qualified po ba yun na reason to get student visa and what are the requirements po ?
hello! I dont think there’s a minimum educational requirement for french courses but to get the long stay visa, you have to have at least 20hours of french courses per week and it should be more than 90 days
@@MeryllGoRound how about sa sponsor po, Yung iyo po mom nyo po Yung sponsor nyo, okay lng po ba ba hindi mo kamag-anak Yung magsposponsor ng paaral nyo dun atsaka hbd taga pilipinas ?
I’m not so sure how strict they are about the relationship with the sponsor actually. It should be possible I think! Feel free to message me on insta so I can send you links!
@@MeryllGoRound thanks u, i'll send u a dm on insta if ever matuloy plans ko to go and study sa france :]
From my last conversation with the french uni, she told me that i dont need to do the ofii anymore bec they will do that once i get there.
My questions are regarding the proof of funds and birth certificate. Confused ako if self funded ko ang studies ko, €615 per montb us the total tuition fee pa rin ba ang dapatmapakita ko sa bank certificate ko? Tapos my birth certificate should be translated to french?
im guessing you got into a private uni? or your international office organizes your ofii reg which is good!!!
translate your birth cert bc you need it for subsidies!!! sulit siya I promise
the 615 eur per month i dont think kailangan mapakita yung tuition fee... ako i just showed around 7-8k euros tas ayun na, no questions about my tuition fee
@@MeryllGoRound yes it is a private uni in france, i believe. Leonard de vinci uni.
Certificate of support is not needed anymore kung self funding ako? As in solo ko lahat ng expenses for my whole studies.
Nikz TV did they tell you not to include the ofii form anymore? I suggest print it out parin and bring it with you in case VFS asks for it! it’s better na meron just in case
no no it’s either the 8k bank deposit OR the certificate of support ☺️
@@MeryllGoRoundokay para safe na din regarding that ofii. I'll do that.
Okay either certificate of support or bank certificate pala. Akala ko both dapat meron. Campus France naman confirmed to me na I can use my local bank certificate since wala pa naman talaga akong french bank.
Thanks for answering my questions. Im looking forward to see pinoys soon in France this winter intake.
Nikz TV good luck! if you have more questions im just here!!!
Is the Campus France Pre Consular Interview in French or English? Thank you!
Hi! In the Philippines, it was in English. But if you’re fluent in French, I’m sure you can do it in French too.
@@MeryllGoRound thank you for the swift answer. What are the normal questions asked?
Normally, personal info, what you’re doing in France, future plans, career plans etc ☺️
@@MeryllGoRound thank you! Oh last question. I am quite confused regarding the accommodation. I keep on reading that Attestation d'Accueil is for stay that is less than 3 months and Attestation D'Hébergement for longer stay. I am just confused which attestation should I provide to the embassy. 😊
@@leolei9014 yes attestation d’accueil is for less than 90 days, but you only need this if you’re living with someone living in France
if not, i think you need a reservation at the uni residences or apartment reservation
Does anyone gets usa or UK visitor visa on vls-ts visa.?
I’m not sure what your question is but I got a UK visitor visa from France to visit my sister in London. You need to do the vusa procedure for UK in Paris though.
@@MeryllGoRound Thank you so much. For the quick reply 👍🏻🌸
My question is that : I m not student visa and visa category is vls-ts. So now I want to visit one of my friend in USA and other friend is in UK also.
Tell me does it easy to gey usa or UK visitor visa for visit friend of mine in that country while I m on student visa with vls-ts category..?
@@bhavsarvarun well the process is the same, you just have to submit the docs at the embassy and then they will give you a visa if you meet the requirements ☺️ I do not think it’s easier/harder with a VLS-TS.
@@MeryllGoRound Thank you 🌹
Why does it seem like the process is more complicated than when I applied for my US student visa? 😂
Abi Ferrazzini because it’s France... they have to be extra HAHAHAHAHA
