- From her 1991 album of the same name, Suzy sings "Aces" on season 18 episode 4 of Larry's Country Diner. The producer of this album was Jimmy Bowan, who changed the way music was recorded in Nashville. This Teen Idol from Dumas, TX also produced "Strangers In The Night" by Frank Sinatra as well as Garth Brooks, among others. What an album Aces is!

Been a fan since the early days! I’ve been lucky enough to have seen her twice in concert and it was like listening to a CD. She is an amazing artist. Someday Soon, Letting Go, Drive South, Outbound Plane. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Suzy probably looks back and this and goes ... "yeah, we lost some money on that appearance. But we still owe the record company ..." That's the way stuff worked breaking into Nashville, LA or any of those talent-rich towns back in the day.
She's always been the best voice in Nashville. Those 90s era women were incredible and Suzy was the best IMO. Nuff said.

The song is about three people: persons A, B, C. It starts with persons A & B. Person A introduces person B to person C. Persons B & C go off into the sunset.
A & B were friends, and C was lover of A. The singer is Person B, who A introduced to C, and then B & C became a couple.
Person B is singing to Person A, who complains that they became a couple. Hence the line "You can't deal me the aces and think I wouldn't play."
It's as simple as that. Singer (person B) had the goods, shot her shot, and in a way "stole" person C from person A. The aces represent the upper hand that person B could play, maybe even dishing dirt on person A because person C would then see that person A has a lot of skeletons or something. Person B and person C will live together forever, but person B wants person A to forgive her for being a man-stealer, because it's also person A's fault that person A had negative attributes that person B felt person C needed to know about person A.
