That surface heat treatment will not effect the areas that are deep down in the cracks and joints of the wooden parts .

If the flames can't get to it the bees will struggle to access it as well. That's why we did the frames though

THANK. YOU. I’ve been searching all over for a full and clear run-through of how to handle this. Everywhere I’ve been has given me parts and pieces - thank you for being clear and very detailed!!!

Hi Lawrence, I think it would have been more helpful (for new comers to beekeeping) to see *in real time* of how the scorching is done (just 1-2 minutes of it would suffice)
It does not require a great skill, but it is almost an art form to do it correctly along with all the safety precautions being taken. Thanks for all the great content 🙏

Thanks. I use a steam cleaner on my hives and it seems to be ok.

Hi Lawrence, what kind of soda solution are you talking about using on the frames? what ratio are you suggesting to use in this solution?

I noticed that the majority world wide wood frames are made off pine, is that correct ?

Hi Lawrence, so does this mean you will be selling langstroth nucs next year . Yes same way I sterilise all my used equipment with the blow torch that reminds me I’ve still got a load of frames to rewire.

Thanks for that, but I think I will stick with Dave Gilmour!

If you heat treat it, why the soda solution? To heat up the wire's how about top/left and right/bottom. Cobus🐳

Hey - no messing around with cooks torches here! You need to torch it GOOD

@@BlackMountainHoney Oh I agree, not worth taking the chance, torching is the right thing to do. But I couldn't resist making a silly comment, the door was wide open :)
