It's still a democracy. It's a democratic Republic..it isn't a pure Republic nor is it a pure democracy. And before you geniuses say "constitutional Republic" that's not a thing. Anything can be "constitutional" because the constitution is an arbitrary document.
A pure democracy would be a disaster. Simply mob rule. Our country's founders understood this. And formed a republic.
