  • First off a very special THANKYOU for Ten Thousand Subscribers! I am so humbled and grateful. This Labor Day weekend was lots of fun because I went to Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in New Milford Ct. I left all the sounds of the flea market intact so I hope you enjoy all the great stuff there! Thanks again!!!

    Thank you for showing all the tool's as well as the old radios (one of my other hobbies) and all the toys. My wife collects Raggedy Ann dolls (she has over 400) and she spotted the Raggedy Ann book or toys in your video. You made her day!! Thanks, that makes collecting a family fun day and extra great video

    Congratulations on 10k subscribers. I would have to imagine that there are a LOT of old tools that have been saved from the scrap pile thanks to your videos. That alone is quite an achievement to be proud of! I've restored a couple of those short handled army shovels in the past (some of my first resto projects, actually), and they come out really nice with minimal effort. The flea market looks like it was a blast and makes me want to hit one up before winter. It's mostly yard/garage or estate sales where I'm at--flea markets, or good ones, anyway are kinda hard to find.

    You got a good deal on the selerescope. We use them at work to test the hardness of pieces we heat treat. I’m a mechanic at an industrial heat treating facility. The V block is an anvil for round pieces to be tested. It holds them steady while the penetrating anvil does its thing.

    Ice tray from a Crosley "fridge." Powell Crosley also made radios, small (short lived) cars and also owned the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. A very innovative man. Love your channel...Newk from Kentucky

    Congratulations on 10K subscribers!
    My wife says she's going with you on your next flea market trip!
    At $75 for the hardness tester complete, you made out like a bandit. Any toolroom has got to have a hardness tester for checking the results of heat treating. There are charts showing the equivalent values between the different hardness scales. So comparing Scleroscope value to Rockwell C (most often used in the toolroom) for instance is no problem. A Rockwell hardness tester is from $4,000-$10,000 new... and a good used one would cost you $1,000.

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад +2

      Hello ARH! Wow! You are just the right person to justify that purchase! LOL Yes, I am used to the Rockwell scale but I will be glad to see how this works! It looks like a very interesting piece none the less! =) Thanks so much! And tell your wife she is more then welcome!!!! My GF always looks for Hummels!!!

    Love these kind of videos. Thanks for taking us along. BTW: I knew the man who invented those lever action ice trays. He was old when I knew him in his 80's. He was in my Rotary Club. He had several patented inventions but his biggest success was those ice trays.

    I have two ice cube trays just like that, and I love them. You have to run the frozen tray under water before using the handle to break the ice cubes free, otherwise you could (and probably will) bend the handle.

And Lastly, I don't have thick glasses, but my glasses makes everything look like it slants to the right! SC... Congrats on the big 10-K. Firearm re-loaders use the metal hardness tester/evaluator to check for the specific hardness on cast or casted bullets. They normally check for the Brinell hardness of the bullet. These are made by a few companies... Brinell being one of them as well as King Portable and Rockwell. There are specific numbers that indicate the hardness or stiffness of the metal or bullet. Thank you for the video as usual. Happy Labor Day!!

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад +1

    I love flea markets even if i don't buy much the stuff is fun to look at. We used to have the largest flea market in Ontario not far from my house it ran year round every sunday they sold a lot of junky stuff some new stuff and some good things it was a fun place one day they just shut it down I guess the land was worth more for other things. I have been collecting things for years.

    ScoutCrafter, Congrats on reaching 10k!!!👍👏🎉 I was also there and I have to say I saw a lot of what you did but missed that Little Giant pipe wrench. Glad I did so you could add it to your set. LOL! I actually still have those old plastic dinosaurs and I had a different version of those old ice cube trays growing up. I'll have to ask my mom if she still has them. Great score on that machete and seeing it in Jaws! That flea market was like walking back through time and remembering all the stuff I used to have. There was even an old Argus slide projector exactly like the one I have from my parents with the rectangular magazines. The guy said " well now you can have two" and I said I was in the process of transferring my slides to digital, but thanks anyway. LOL. I also missed that perfect handle screwdriver but saw a different one with a broken handle. I may have past by you at one point. Funny, your video showed you focused on a lot of items that I did as well. Wish I grabbed that old army shovel though. We'll meet up next time, see some great stuff and tell some stories and you'll get me to buy a bit more. Haha!

      Hi Steve! I did a really nice intro to this video that was about 60 seconds long, but had to cut it out because I can't upload a video longer then 15 minutes! ...In the original intro I thanked everyone for the 10K and went on to say how we just missed each other at the show! I also mentioned how when you are actually at the show you tend to miss a lot of stuff that is there because your senses are overwhelmed and your brain can't focus! Literally! every time I review footage of what I shot I say to myself "I didn't see that!" yet it was right in front of me! LOL I bet there was a lot of stuff that you just saw that you didn't notice too! I hope your Wife had a good time, it really is a fun day out! Talk to you soon!!!!

    I used to go to the Beaulieu auto jumble when I was a kid with my dad who was renovating an old bsa. It was a lot like this then with boxes of treasure on every stall.
    We went last year and with the advent of eBay, it’s not the same anymore. Lot of Dutch people still come over to get there British car parts though.

      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад +2

      Hello Brian! I didn't get a price on that but it was an Anvil/vise, I restored one and this one was missing the rear jaw but had the yoke assembly! Strange! Cool though! Thanks very much!!!!!

      I knew EXACTLY what that came from the second the camera panned across it. Mostly because I need one in my life. That may even become the fixture of the living room plopped right down on the coffee table.

      I noticed Scout was being a little coy when looking at the tools, when he looked at that Little Giant I said to myself that is going home with him, the other purchases were not as noticeable but that pipe wrench was a dead give away.

    You should be buying any kind of replacement wooden hammer handles like @ 7:25 if they are cheap. They aren't $3 any more and are a hella lot of work to make.

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад

      You are so right!!! I bought about 30 a few years ago because like you said they aren't cheap now and the wood isn't as stable! It just takes a while to re-handle a hammer the right way! Thanks so much!!!

    I really enjoy your flea market videos 😎 As a kid, I had one of those tin barns with the animals and fencing. Have no idea what happened to it, in those days, after you grew out of something, your parents gave it away. The other thing of interest to me was the mini ball peen hammer. I have one also. It came from a flea market or in a lot from an auction, years ago.
    Congratulations on 10K !!! 😎👍👍👍

    First, let me congratulate on 10K great keep it up.....second love when you do a walk through I miss lea markets they do not do them here in Indonesia, now to my questions. at 1:40 there was a screw jack, what would you use that for, and then at 5;54 the Anvil/Vise what a heavy duty bad boy that looked like. I have my routine every morning after my morning prayers, I go get my pastry and coffee and then open RUclips and hope to see a new video from you, really makes my coffee and pastry more enjoyable. Thank you my friend for all the great work keep 'em coming.

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад +1

      Hello Abdulah! Thankyou so much my friend!!!!!! That means so much!!!! The screw-jack is used to brace something that has an unusual shape on the milling machine or drill press to give the part more rigidity! Also the Anvil vise is just like the one I restored however this one was missing the rear jaw! Otherwise it was pretty nice!!!! Thanks again my friend!!!!!!
