I’ve never cried so much during a video. I’ve been meaning to see a therapist, but After this I’m thinking I should be looking for someone who’s also a practicing Muslim. Im young and don’t want my experiences to hold me, my growth and my faith back. (Also on a lighter note the way Najwa looks like Anne Hathaway to me woah)

Dr. Gabor Mate work has helped me tremendously with my childhood trauma from abuse and neglect of my parents and the trauma that accumulated throughout the years because I have never addressed my childhood trauma. I highly recommend his work. He speak about how basically all of us are carrying trauma in our body and how we get addicted to many things because we are trying to self medicate our pain. When he speaks to his clients he doesn't ask them about why they are addicted, he asks the why the pain. He goes to the root of the issues. A baby inside a mother's womb can experience trauma if the mother is under stress. Generational trauma is what we are all dealing with and as Muslims we need to address it because unhealed trauma is the root of all our pain. May Allah guide us to the people and resources to help us heal from our traumas Ameen

This is insane. I recently went through something which changed how I perceive everything and it went as far as effecting how I view faith and it scared me I was fearing to get led astray from deen. It’s been an internal conflict and because of how I’ve always been hard on myself I told myself I was fine until recently it was pretty extreme and just as it was at it’s peak i ask Allah and I see this video.. subhanallah

Salaam Aafreen, I think most humans suffer from trauma, just some deal with it or are in denial of it and then use other coping mechanisms.
There are many ways to heal trauma. I'd recommend acupuncture, hijama and body based trauma release exercises.
Ruqyah can also help a lot, I'm suggesting these just in case they are useful as I'm currently healing PTSD due to abuse from family and someone I went to for spiritual healing, plus other issues.
There's also a gadget called Healy and so many energy healing modalities (except for Reiki, as that's not based in Allah's light).
      EMDR therapy and somatic experiencing.
insha'Allah I pray we all are guided to the modalities that work for us individually.
I'm still exploring what else I can do to rewire my brain and release the trauma from my DNA as we also inherit from ancestors their trauma if they didn't deal with it e.g. misogyny and abuse, war trauma

Trauma. Any experience that a person really struggles with in a way that affects their life in a profound manner. A spectrum. Big T trauma. War. Major distressing incidents. Small t trauma. Childhood adverse experience compounding over time. Piled one on top of another. Continuous microaggressions. Smaller distress that is piled one on top of the other. Growing up in a dysfunctional family relationship.

I really think that this is a difficult topic. I commend you brothers and sisters for bringing this dialog into the public space. I think it is difficult to reconcile difficult emotions sometimes, and what we go through waxes and wanes so quickly it could be difficult to accept trauma. I think that managing emotions and balancing a life of faith may be easier said than done. However for those of us who do let our emotions get the best of us I think that this support and the support of Allah (S) reminds of his gift of creation, and the capacities (yes even emotionally) that He has given to us out of His generosity ♡♡♡♡♡

Thank you sister. It's also worthwhile to know that trauma can be released from the body through various energy healing modalities. I'm currently seeing a Healy gadget therapist, know of EMDR and have done shamanic soul retrieval and entity removals as well.
A lot of us also absorb other people's trauma and emotions and that can be released.
Body based therapies are really useful.

I wish every Muslim community have Islamic counselors accesssible. That will make a world of difference, especially when you seeking counseling from therapist with no Islamic world view. And sometimes that even hinders you from seeking help because you know they will not understand you. That in turn intensify your traumatic experiences and sink deeper in to depression and fall in to despair.

I think that as long as I’m living with my husband I will never heal completely as he is a high level narcissist. My nerves stay raw and he constantly scratches at them. I constantly turn to Allah for comfort. Alhamdulillah Allah has recently given me a very quiet peaceful and beautiful place to live, except my husband being here, it would be completely therapeutic. I’m thankful for whatever I have and try to use the good surroundings to stay calm, focus on my relationship with Allah as much as I can and try to heal. I’m not able to do those therapies you mentioned at this time. I have occasionally in the past and hope to in the future but for now prayer is my only remedy. I think it would be good for me to have trauma counseling with a Muslim professional. If you know of any who would be willing to text council me without my husband’s knowledge and for free ( reward from Allah , as I can’t pay anything) I believe I need it very badly. If not, Allah suffices His servants🤲🏼

I lost a baby. Then i was cured and had another chikd. Then the cancer came back they wanted to take the baby out at 6 minths because of the risk to me and the baby. I prayed and cried everyday and put my trust in allah and went full term pregnancy .Then i became homeless again got cancer again.Luckiky they operated immediately.so i was recovering rehoused and my husband came out if prison now i have 6 kids going through all this alone then i get covid last last december stayed in intensive care for 6 months died three timez was in a wheelchair had to learn to talk eat walk and its only now 1 year later since i came out of hospital that i can walk and still i have serious breathing problems physical disability fatigue.im still standing here praying fasting being a mum to 6 kids.My issue is not being shaken up and put through tests by Allah but my issue is i do nt have good muslim sisters. There are many muslim sisters in my area but they really dont care they are hostile gossip backbite ..sisters need to be more supportive and less spiteful and snooty and judgemenyal.i see sisters giving big talks but they couldnt walk one mile just one mile of my life and they lecture me without knowing me!!!!ive lost my trust in muslims ive found muslim sisters have caused me trauma since i was 16 theyhave hurt me deeply.im 45 now and all my friends are non muslim.we need to stop giving speeches or therapy we need to start being empathitic and kind.islam and allah is the most merciful most kind.its vedy sad the state of muslim sisters.
