Just got mine in. An interesting thing of note is that the goggle housing is the same as the analog Transporter 2. So if you use the analog version as well you only need to carry 2 screens and one housing.
As for flying in the cold ( @ 8:51) , I hear you on this. I live in Canada, but my hands hate the cold. Gloves, warming bags, etc. have not been helpful, just awkward. I fly indoors in winter, if I'm not comfortable, I'm not having fun anyway, and for me that's the point. Good review, BTW, you always give good info !! I take your reviews seriously, you are fair and impartial as a person can be. I've bought several products you had good reviews on, and you have been spot on.
They sell a stadium tent which is big enough for 1 or 2 chairs depending on which you get, about 100-200 dollars. It's best to get the 2 person pop up, or stadium tent so you can run a small electric heater under the chair. Guaranteed to keep you comfortable.
Cobra X is such a superior product though. Honestly, it’s in the same class as EV800D, but as goggles, I prefer the EV800D. Every reviewer of these goggles mention that the screen is too close to the face and wish that distance is farther, but probably not practical to have so much weight far extended in front of your face (botgrinder and drone camps come to mind). Similar to the EV800D, the detachable screen is what seems to be a main value of this product. Did you not watch the flight playback? Emax products are cheap throwaway junk imo. I have a graveyard of emax products to prove it. In the price range, definitely get the Cobra X.
@@jumpstartfpv I’d still rather get cobra x and put the vrx on them. The cobra x is a nice box goggle. This transporter thing is not usable for daily use imo. It’s just a gimmick that emax stole from eachine (my theory), but failed on product testing to make the goggles a legit daily driver. It has selling points like detachable screen and aesthetics but all emax stuff is crappy use for a little bit and then ends up being a junky toy you upgrade since it’s just not that good. Botgrinder and DroneCamps both were trying to be positive but talked about how they couldn’t get it to focus perfectly for them. Paying $200+ for “cheap” things you’ll end up upgrading is the biggest waste in fpv hobby.
@@justainchoe6141 huge latency with cobra x + vrx. I think glass to glass with vrx is more than 70ms which is painful. The Cobra X itself has a base latency of about 20ish ms, because of the flipping of the image.
Just bought these with the minihawk III freestyle kit and had a great first time flying! I did experience an issue with the transporter 2 hd powering off unexpectedly mid flight. I notice one other commenter mention short battery life so I was hoping someone could let me know what the expected battery life at full charge should be before I assume i for a faulty unit. I got ~15-20 minutes worth of time flying but i did leave the unit on and idle between flights. For now i will be using a power bank and lowering the screen brightness! Great video thank you c:
Quick question, Nick. 5:37 You mentioned the boot switch, and also that their website has more info. I'd like to read more about it, but can't find the info. Would you leave a link to where that info is please? Great overview. Interesting that the playback is very choppy. 🤔
Ah yes, well it looks like the preview link I had been sent is no longer available and not listed on the emax website. The best we can do is to look at the hdzero manual which should step through the functions similarly but with the buttons being difference. On page 7 of this link is about the switch. www.hd-zero.com/_files/ugd/967e02_37269c94d09a4660829dbbdf3021d826.pdf
Yeah thanks to you when I got the emax tiny hawk I had to change the channel to 8 because what channel it was on when I started flying would knock out the cable where my wife couldn’t watch tv. Haha
I greatly prefer HDZero. I just feel far more connected in flight due to the fixed latency. Plus the HDZero environment seems like it will be much more open than Walksnail when it comes to hardware manufacturers but I could end up being wrong on that part. I know they were planning to go open source with HDZero. They may have already done it.
@Vaeloron not to mention I can fly through the type of digital static hdzero does with range / interference where walksnail looks like it either looses bitrate (smooth unsharp video) or studders. I doubt walksnail will ever be open source, I feel like it's a type of dji system. Maybe some of the same chips so dji can sell hardware through a US company. It sure looks and acts like some of the 2nd gen dji fpv stuff. It's a good way to sell off older chips that were never used too. All said I do hope there is a solution to lock in a set latency with walksnail in the future but having the expected latency on the OSD helps out alot. I can deal with 35ms without too much weirdness but I do enjoy flying tight stuff with hdzero and low latency elrs. I have both, each has its advantages and disadvantages.
Can you speak to what video system you prefer for backyard/park style flying? It seems like a DJI vista is too heavy for anything under 3.5” and 3.5 4s may be too loud and dangerous to fly in a neighborhood. Is DJI practical for backyard flying?

In some cases we have to unlock the vtx for all channels and update the vtx table. This though sounds like the goggles are picking up the near channel/frequency rather than locking onto the actual frequency. What do you see if you manuall change the google channel to R8?
Looks like a great inexpensive way to upgrade from analog to a newer digital FPV system. Analog2 is clearer than analog, that's for sure! Too bad there's really no other benefits to Analog2. The penetration is actually slightly less than plain ole analog. You could just barely make it around your house, so that's something! 😎🤘

A stand alone receiver will certainly have more range than an spi. One thing to investigate is if the rx is in d8 mode (look in betaflight configurator) we need to be sure we match that on the radio. If its in d16 mode, we likely need to switch it to d8. Historically, we found with frsky protocol and d16 mode not to work well.
