Wow, not too many people have seen this one I guess. I believe I watched most of it as a child I n 1982. I Iiked the scenery and costumes because this reminded me of The Empire Strikes Back at the time.
I still enjoy watching it here and there even today. David Soul’s performance is very good as well as Rock Hudson as the president.
I should prep the praise for this film by saying it is often something I will have on in the background while doing something else. There are scenes which I like to watch and a whole heck of a lot of dull moments, build up etc which seem out of place and unwarranted. Perhaps these scenes are there as Filler because they needed the time for two nights. A lot of these scenes just don’t really go anywhere. They mainly focus on character building of Caffey and The President but really don’t add a whole lot.
There’s something else I notice when I watch this film. The Soviets are reported to have a force of around 40, but when you watch the fighting and their casualties….it seems like they have 200 people. Either that or more keep dropping from the sky as they are shot and blown up.
The ending scene between Caffey and the Russian Col also made zero sense and seemed forced. Perhaps this scene could have played a lot better if it was someone’s dream…

Wow, you and I have the same relationship with this movie. I loved it as a kid (and I'm sure the similarities to Hoth had something to do with it), and now I watch it in the background a lot.
I hope you stick around for a few other videos, and let me know if you have a Movie you want me to review! (I'm watching "Countdown to looking glass" in the background while I configure software lol).
