Hehe.. No, Death is Dracula's General. Walter Bernhard was merely a means to an end. He's was the vampire Dracula ate the soul of to become the lord of darkness.

I felt so sorry for the toy maker in the game.. I was kinda hoping to see him escape?. Without a fight but here we are fighting. Soul caught in a game of death and shadows.
No, you are slightly confused by it. His heart is still pure, his mind however was corrupted. Which is why he had the boy keep it so it didn't get corrupted as well. He is a man of good intentions. But he was tricked, he was deceived into thinking he had the opportunity to have a good workshop to live in to make toys but was cursed upon agreeing.

i am still confused, why was the the toymaker crying in the end? was it because he was so happy to be free, or was it because dracula was the boy who guarded his heart and he had become a monster?
My answer to why he was crying - Was because after the Burnheards hold over the castle was broken, it was Carmila who had taken its place and after her death then Dracula. The Burnheards are dead and so is the Forgotten one. Dracula had taken over and also became the inherited slave keeper of the toy maker. After Dracula was defeated, the toy maker was free again but remained asleep ( with no chance to run ) like everyone else. I believe he cried because he realized so much, like the time that had passed, thought to have eternal rest, having his soul and heart taken over from one master to another and another. Plus the fact that Dracula himself still lives and that he stand before him. After all that, the toy maker realizes that his soul under Dracula's ( or perhaps the next masters ) reign may never rest. So long as Dracula lives the toy maker is fucked. The castle stands and the Burnhards curse on the toy maker remains valid since the very same powers of said curse was inherited by Dracula. The toy maker and his curse became an accessory to the castle like air conditioning to a building. Dracula told him to guard his heart well because the castle itself is a living being. ( you saw the video ) it tried to take him. Dracula has no intention of dying yet. So again, till the event of Draculas death the Toy Maker is beat. No Dracula, No Castle, No Curse. That's my spin on it. I cant think of any other way.
Well, I couldn't imagine this one smiling; it would cause the universe to implode. And also, he is written to be very grim and dark in this story. I can imagine a Dracula in fiction smiling. Maybe a sinister smile as he is about to drain someone who has given him a lot of grief. The Count from Sesame Street is always smiling because, you know, he really likes to *bleep* .
hm , before god of war there were good game with story, i think even castlevania is not so theatric as god of war its still deep , full of unique ideas and atmopshere
Hey what is it with vampire games and toymakers as villains!? You had to fight an evil toymaker in the much older Blood: Omen Legacy Of Kain on PS1 too, now you fight his brother in this game, or maybe this is the guy that started the Mattel company, and in Blood Omen it was the Hasbro guy. Both probably evil.
The story of the Toymaker reminds me of the origin story of the Toyman from Superman: The Animated Series. Both featured toymakers who were tricked by powerful men, and were unjustly imprisoned as a result.
Is this game worth it? I remember buying it around the time it came out, only played like 2 chapters or whatever and then I stopped thinking if I should dust the old PS3 n launch the game again
Anyone want to explain this to me? Was Gabriel the boy who he gave his heart to years ago? Was Gabriel as Dracula he one who locked him away in the Castle as Walter Bernhard?
Is it just me, or would the story the Toy Maker is telling could actually be the plot of a cool comic? An evil vampire lord invades a great kingdom seeking to rule it as it's king. The powerful Sir Walter immediately fights valiantly for the kingdom, his skill and his strength impressing the vampire lord who has yet to unleash his true strength. The vampire lord fells the great Sir Walter, but with his dying breath the Knight manages to instill a seed of goodness in the vampire. The desire to protect the kingdom the vampire seeks to rule. Seeing that the kingdom is weak, a terrible and powerful Dragon awakens from it's slumber, and seeing that the long line of legendary knights who had protected the kingdom for so long has finally ended, it attacks. But it doesn't anticipate the vampire lord, who quickly moves to defend the Kingdom he now rules. The dragon and the vampire fight viciously, but despite the dragon's power, it finds that the vampire lord is more than it's match. Before now, the knights and Sir Walter himself had only been enough to drive the dragon back into slumber. The dragon, nearing death, unleashes it's flame breath. But the vampire is unfazed, for only holy powers can harm him, which were fresh out thanks to the death of Sir Walter. The vampire defeats the dragon, and secures the safety of the Kingdom. And with the last breath of the dragon, the vampire learns something else; incredible power doesn't guarantee that one's actions are just. And thus the vampire returns to the kingdom, humbled by the lessons of Sir Walter and Sauronguntherax. He rules with a strict yet kind heart, and with his protection the kingdom is prosperous and happy for eternity.

I have not played this game honestly it was the first game that kept me away. Mind you I enjoyed the first game but the nails in the coffin for me was one of the first bosses you fight against is a shadow of colossus rip off and the denial of camera control or bad placement in two areas of the game. The first one at the start of the game your expected to make jump to a ledge with a gap where you can fall and die having to start over from your last check point. The camera itself was positioned behind the wall so you had to guess the direction on where to jump if you get good for you if not got to go back to the last check point. The second place it was terrible was the entrance to death's domain where there is platforming and the farther you get the farther away the camera will move away from you making platforming difficult more so than necessary and your also being closed in by a good number of reapers immune to damage but can one shot you learned from trying to kill one. So that stopped from finishing the first lords of shadow and even if they port this to ps4 or make a new one. I'll buy it used not giving konami my money after what they had done to MGS and silent hill franchises.
I'm new to this game but I found it AMAZING! And it almost as God of War's game style. Almost... and some other games that I couldn't remember. Oh, this reminds me... Prince of Persia, this game style is almost the same as Prince of Persia. Almost... Oh, I thought that big toy was Zodiark (FFXII).
You guys remember devil may cry 1? Yeah this reminds me a lot like it, especially the ifrit gauntlets and ice version of alastor. That's not a good thing. Game still seems tight tho.

I honestly think if anyone could kill Kratos, it would be Dracula from Lords of Shadow 2.
so true
So what's the deal with the blood?
You guys remember devil may cry 1? Yeah this reminds me a lot like it, especially the ifrit gauntlets and ice version of alastor. That's not a good thing. Game still seems tight tho.
Hope I'm not the only one who read his name as Troy Baker
Welcome to the Magical Theatre of the Strange and Fantastic(excuse me if this makes me think of Puppeteer)
So what does this mean was dracula the vampire that made him a slave ? Or was it someone else? Also toy maker said he knows him ?
Wow this voice acting is good.
I'm starting to imagine hell having demon toy makers, like this one. IDK why.
So the toy maker remembered who he was , who he was really can someone tell me?
The boy in the story
CTLLV oh , thanks.
wtf, the boy is the boy. the toy maker is the toy maker. the story that has been told in that play is the real story. that's the toy maker really was. it's obvious.
This is one of the greatest boss fights....
The puppets are giving me the shivers
One of the best series ever!!
Holy shit the evil toymaker absolutely terrifying ! 😱
The toy maker looks like Chuck Schumer
I loved this sequence.
Isn't Walter Bernhard the vampire you kill at the end with Leon Belmont in Lament of Innocence?
So the way to Toy Maker's heart IS through his stomach. Interesting.
if just all the game were in the castle and not in that modern day...
For a 4 yo game, the graphics ain't that bad.
I think that the art style carries the game more than anything.
This game is soo underrated.
Who was the kid that kept the toymaker's heart? Was that Gabriel?
Did he just say Walter Bernhard? The villain from Lament of Innocence?
Love it. Such a great game.
Toy maker's character was inspired in Eduard Punset ^^
This was extremely informative
This needs to be on the PS4
