I bought 10 comfrey cutting in late October 2022. It is December 4, 2022 and I have nine of the cuttings that have come up and they are beautiful. One came up a couple of weeks ago and within these past few days they all started coming up. I had previously bought from another source and only half of them came up and none of them ended up surviving. The ones I bought from Perma Pastures as very hardy. I can't wait till they grow larger so I can plant them all around my garden.

I read a a post that stated that different parts of the comfrey had different levels or concentrations of the minerals in the plant, and you had to understand which parts were more laden with the chemicals the plant produces. Depending on whether you were using it externally or ingesting it dictated what part you used. Just what I read.
I'm also a fellow comfy lover and comfort geek and plan on planting rows of comfrey to have for many different uses. What two books is it that Michelle is referencing in the video?, because I would love to add them to my collection. Thank you so much.
An older herb book, copyright first 1980, "the Way of Herbs" by Michael Tierra, C.A., N.D. has 4 pages on comfrey, and addressed the impact on the liver being exaggerated with common sense details from the source, and when not to use it.
That is one of the best herb books available ! I have used Comfrey since 1978. The government done research using Comfrey , 1940s, it was the best thing ever used on 2nd , 3rd and chemical burns. Raw Comfrey leaves , blended up , with raw garlic and raw honey. Left on for a week to 10 days. Skin came back before scabs. Its the best , bar none , for burns ! But the government considered it as a catastrophic failure , because it only works FRESH . They couldn't use it frozen or dried , only fresh. I've taken it internally many times without a problem. I blend it ( fresh leaves ) with a little water , add to milk or juice, many put it in hot water as tea. I could bore you on it for hours. There is not one documented case of Comfrey hurting a human ! They mention the PA s in it.
People now , for the most part , believe in DRUGS. There isn't a drug that cures anything ? But most have crazy scary side effects , but people knowing take them ! One article on Comfrey and people are scared of it ! Look at Michael Tierra's credentials ! Who he studied with and where ! He knows herbs and foods. Anything can be a poison. Too much water will kill you ( some kids die each year from college hazing during gallons of water in an hour ) . Salt can kill you in large enough amounts , internally or externally. " Scientists" point to one part of an herb super concentrated and fed to a rat or mouse ( with a very low immune system, breed that way to get sick easier ) for 2 years , a rats life , and it gets SICK !!! LOL . Comfrey heals , many many things , externally , diaper rash , poison oak , cuts , burns , etc. Internally , food poisoning , ulcers , CANCER, and speeds healing of most things , IN MY OPINION !!! I CANT TELL YOU TO USE IT !! THATS ILLEGAL !! Like ANYTHING , use in moderation ( not daily for LIFE ). It's sad so many die from fear , to not use ILLEGAL now herbs. I'm not condoning "weed" lol. I'm talking healing herbs ! The plants God created to heal you , ( leaves as your medicine , fruits as your food ) . FYI I'm not afraid to say GOD!
Take a quart jar, fill about half full of comfrey leaves, pour boiling water over it to the top. Cap, leave all day or night. It tastes okay to me and I don't add honey to it. It did feel better when I drank it. I must get into the habit of drinking all my herbal teas and infusions on a regular basis. I do feel much better when I do. BTW, I love you porch and the view!!
Alright 👍... I was a wondering what I was going to do with the comfrey leaves I cut yesterday 😅 Making tea as I post this. Do you mind sharing the title of the book about things to do with comfrey? Thank you 😊 once again for a great video & your great timing.
Good stuff as always! You eluded to the benefits of cannabis, which was my entry-point to growing; now I grow everything. Nonetheless, I use specific cannabis strains to help manage cognition, anxiety, pain, sleep, and etc. via "the high." However, I also use Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) topically to treat pain, eczema, and other problems that arise from my chronic tick-coinfections, which does not cause a high (results may vary because my tolerance is elevated). To the point, our Government works for the interests of the majority they are interested in working for... and Comfrey is/was one of those things certain interests were less interested in having as competition to their interests. Anyone who has read the warnings of using pharmaceutical medicines, approved by the FDA, understands my point.
I think simmering the dried herb brings out the earthy flavor. I made some several days ago and soaked my feet in half(healing some old wounds) and froze the other half into ice cube trays thinking maybe an ice cube a day for osteoporosis but I haven`t read anything for that application yet so haven`t started yet.
Just harvested 90% of my comfrey. I’ve transplanted root sections all over and still have about 1-200 left over. I also used the leaves in mulch rings and some in a bucket of water to make comfrey tea for the garden. Wish I had a website to sell some root cuttings. Trouble is I have common comfrey, Bocking 4 and 14, can’t tell them apart. Oh well…
@@brachashighhopeshomestead226 Bocking 14 (I’m not sure about 4)-named after a town in the UK where it was developed, I believe, is the less invasive form of comfrey-the kind you want. You are so very kind by friend!
I have comfrey planted around my pigpen. They eat whatever is close enough to get a snout on and we pick leaves off for them as they grow. They absolutely love it and will eat it before just about anything else!
My pigs eat that stuff by the arm load!
I use the dried root powered in my formulas typically or boiled root and let it steep as bath or tea
Sounds like a wonderful idea
Yay! I can’t wait for mine to grow!! I’m heading to the festival next weekend and I’m so excited! I’m also really bummed that I couldn’t get off work Friday to make the butchering workshop! This week I’ll put in 70hrs but I’m packing up my car and leaving from work to make that 10 hour drive!
Awesome! Look forward to meeting you!

Thank you so much for your business Tammy!
I just ordered your comfrey. Looking forward to learning more about it.
Stay tuned!
Living here in Savannah Georgia comfrey has not done very well for me…FIRST YEAR… but this year I TRIED to transplant a root and low and behold it took off …I have made Cremes for some time and love the benefits …I’m guessing the heat here was not helpful in establishing my dream herb lol…sometimes things just take longer and patience does prevail…wonderful coming across your online site …found you through David the Good and Doug and Stacy…looking forward to more learning from like minded people…thanks ever so much…stay blessed
Great information y’all ! I got some from y’all and was wondering what else to do besides chicken feed!
I Love to learn how to make that salve !
Stay tuned! We hope to cover most of that pretty soon.
Comfrey has been a fantastic discovery for me on the farm. No one can have enough of it. I’m still learning more and more about it. If only we could grow it faster. 😉
This is my first time here but not my last. Thank You so much for sharing.
Have a fantastic day
This was a nice video. You all are very loving.
I like to see you all together
Perfect timing for this video! I just picked up my comfrey and bone sauce at the Post Office yesterday!
Thank you so much for your business!
Will you have roots available again? I’m ordering the bone sauce and didn’t see the roots as an option.
I would love to have this on the homestead...live in Texas Panhandle...very dry and hot in the summer and very cold and windy in the winter. 😬
My first few 18 day piles were done in 60 days.
Tomorrow is comfrey division day. I’m finally going to do it so I can cover all of my plantings. Going to make comfrey tea too.
I forgot the last thing I was gonna say.
It’s all good buddy. You’re doing great!
comfrey tea helps your snotty nose dry up! Have used it when I had to do a training class and my nose was runny. Helps dry up a "full head". -)
I love comfrey. I've grown it for years and treated my kids and animals with it for years. The tea isn't bad. It tastes a bit like grass. I mix it with mint for my kids to drink
Just received a comfrey order the other day and put them in the ground today. Packaging and presentation was awesome and shipping was fast. Pretty excited to add this to the garden as well as trying to supplement feed for the meat rabbits. Started following you on truth social tho I rarely go on over there. Great content my friend. Shalom.
I was just the other day, asking my wife how we were supposed to use the comfrey. So I thank you for the info here! Very informative. She started using the comfrey on the basis it supposed to help with my arthritis. So I guess that's the tea end of this. Thank you.
I wonder if topical usage would help as well!
Great idea for the comfrey series! Thanks for a detailed video on this topic.
There is much more to come my friend!
I just ordered my roots today from you guys.
Oh I had to laugh when your beautiful dog came racing over & sat using their tail as a broom, just brilliant as you just kept talking & explaining without missing a beat. I am going to put a tub of comfrey in as what you were explaining makes great sense to me.
What an amazing channel & I am so glad if follow you. Cheers Denise- Australia
That’s perfect for me to learn comfrey tea for fertilizer. Love to know the names of the books you have for comfrey. Great start to the video of comfrey. Will be waiting on future uses.
Coming up very soon my friend!
Thank y’all so much! Blessings
Thank you and blessings to you and yours!
I LOVE comfrey!! Incredible medicinal properties. I used it to heal an internal fistula.I drink it in tea everyday. I would LOVE to learn how to grow it. Just found your channel...good stuff!
I steep my tea 12 hours plus, not longer than 24, using dried leaves. I also put Nettle and Holy Basil in there with it. Tastes minty. Check out the book Lost Book of Herbal remedies by Nicole Apelian. I think you would love it.
A friend called to ask how to heal an internal wound from surgically removing a fistula. Did u heal via comfrey tea or poultice?

I've got about 30 comfrey plants l am using my second batch of comfrey fertilizer, now I'm going to try the tea. I drink horsetail tea so I'll drink anything.
Let me know how it turns out!
Recommend yarrow and nettle as well!

Hey Billy just saw you posted this video I'm working the homestead right now but definitely going to watch this once the sun goes down. By the way I planted your comfrey here in Northwest Florida and it is doing great thank you for your tips via email.

Funny I try'ed today to buy some comfrey and Borage... all sold out. Go figure 😂. Thanks for a great Educational treat. Yes sir I'm in. Ever loving mind. 😅😅😅😅😅
A story.....
I was rendering lard...and forgot about it...
When i opened the oven door...it was smoking real good.....
I pulled on the rack and it was stuck...i pulled harder
and it splashed on my thumb.....all the skin melted off my thumb...i saw all the tendons and muscles....
I let out a blood curdling scream...my daughter ran out and got comfrey...mashed it up and went and got the "kit".....
She covered my thumb with mashed comfrey and wrapped it...I slept with it on my thumb....
In the morning....we took the bandage off and looking closely...one could see the skin knitting together on my thumb...
After a while...i did physical therapy to bend my thumb....that was 20 years ago........💖😁😉
Y’all are amazing thanks so much for sharing
I made comfrey tee I put mint in it I thought it was good. It helped me with a lot of health problems.
Just ordered 10 comfrey roots from you. I put a comfrey plant by each of my fruit trees and cut the plants each year during the summer and use the leaves & stalks for my mulch in the garden beds along with cut up leaves and grass clippings. Going to make comfrey tea this spring to use as fertilizer in my garden beds and to fertilize fruit trees, berries and perennial flowers/ bushes
Thanks for the video! Seeing how you use it in action definitely helps me with how I can use it on my property! Blessings!
Stay tuned! We have a bunch more uses coming.
My friend gave me a plant of Comfrey a few years ago. I have it everywhere. She visited the other day and was concerned that I have so much! One reason I love it is the bees that it attracts to my garden. I am working on a food forest while on the other half of the property my husband is doing his conventional thing. He just has not found the blessings of Comfrey yet. Thank you for your instructions.
Just ordered 10 cuttings from you, can't wait to grow it! Thank y'all so much 💓 I guess all of William's bowls and spoons are sold out, good for him, they really are beautiful!
Great info as always. Thanks guys! (I think I’m in love with the world’s greatest Pyrenees. Those eyes… I can tell he is very connected and dedicated to Billy.)
We will be sure to add them in the description of the next video
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 thank you so much
An older herb book, copyright first 1980, "the Way of Herbs" by Michael Tierra, C.A., N.D. has 4 pages on comfrey, and addressed the impact on the liver being exaggerated with common sense details from the source, and when not to use it.
Thank you so much for the information
I couldn't hear what you used to deter deer????
Because of yall I just started comfrey.
Thank you.
Michelle, thank you for a confident presentation. :)
I am looking forward to using mine once it grows. So many benefits!
We barely scratched the surface!
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 yea!!!
I love y'alls videos. So jam packed full of information. Thank you.
I would suggest yarrow for open bleeding wounds and bruises. Comfrey salve is permeable to the skin and I’ve used it for a broken bone.
Alright 👍... I was a wondering what I was going to do with the comfrey leaves I cut yesterday 😅 Making tea as I post this. Do you mind sharing the title of the book about things to do with comfrey? Thank you 😊 once again for a great video & your great timing.
Love your shirt!👏😁Thanks for the info too!
Are you saying the wacky weed was a gateway... to... gardening? 😮😂
Oh and my comfrey that I ordered got a late planting but is now sprouting little green leaves in pots. Now to find them a home in the yard...
@@momcaregiver That is so awesome to hear my friend
Thanks for info.
Thank you so much my friend!
Just harvested 90% of my comfrey. I’ve transplanted root sections all over and still have about 1-200 left over. I’m going to plant a comfrey patch to generate enough for everything else I want to try with comfrey as this video suggested. I also used the leaves in mulch rings and some in a bucket of water to make comfrey tea for the garden.
Wish I had a website to sell some root cuttings. Trouble is I have common comfrey, Bocking 4 and 14, can’t tell them apart. Oh well…
what is Bocking 4 & 14 mean, RR? ty
@@brachashighhopeshomestead226 Bocking 14 (I’m not sure about 4)-named after a town in the UK where it was developed, I believe, is the less invasive form of comfrey-the kind you want. It is propagated by root cuttings. If you get regular comfrey via seed propagation, I’m told it can be wildly aggressive. I just started growing comfrey so am no expert, but this is what I’ve read online from several sources.
@@gogr2409 Are there any issues with it being wildly aggressive? Except for people who want it to grow in only one specific place... is there anything else bad about it? I would love comfrey to take over my yard.
@@briedubbels8690 I don’t think there is anything bad about it. Only if you want to devote an area to some other plants and it becomes invasive. I am aiming for a big comfrey area in my garden
Love watching your videos!
