Tips for Sick Kids 🤢

- Man, I don't know what bug is going around, but it found our house this past week. Anyone being sick is the worst, but sick kids can be so hard.
When I posted in my stories for help, tips came in from experienced moms. These were my top 2 favorite options that I used this week & they worked 🙌🏻
I bought 10+ throw away table coverings this week. If I don't use them for sick kids, I'll use them for family gatherings (for their actual intended purpose) & same goes for glow sticks! I'm always going to have both these options on hand from here on out!
#sick #stomachissues #stomachflu #stomachflusucks #momhack #momhacks #momtips #sickness #🤢
These are some great tips! That glow stick one is pure genius! I’ll keep these tips in mind next time anyone in my house gets sick ❤
Yes! I bought the items to keep at my house because you never know when it's coming 😅😅.
@@galpractical That’s honestly an amazing idea! With it still being cold, at least where I live, it’s expected for people to get sick more often so you always gotta be prepared 😂
I’m sure you’d just have to give them one bc I feel like they’d just grab them out of the bowl lol
@@Dr_pepper_lover LOL that’s true
But then u have to dig the glow sticks out of the vomit
Other pro tip, get a bunch of those plastic produce bags at the grocery store and layer multiple on top of each other inside a bowl so you don't have to take the bowl away.
Wait that is actually a really good idea
And put some paper towels inside to help absorb so it isn’t so sloshy.
Works every time!
This is what we do!!
My parents do that all the time for me and my little brother :)
This is so smart thank you so much
This is amazing! But I can feel them being traumatized from glowing radioactive vomit 😂 but I’m definitely saving these ideas for later
I think they’re meant to try and take the glow sticks out before hand but yeah if they can’t grab them in time it might be a little gross for them 😅
AHH throwing up is literally my WORST fear!! 😱
Me too me too!
Same huge phobia of me throwing up or anyone throwing up. I go into an instant panic attack. I have 6 kids and I damn near die when they get the stomach flu lol
I was balling my eyes out when my little sister got gyrogoing with is a stomach flu 😔
Same its really bad that one time i got a huge panic attack and had to go to therapy because I wasn’t eating since i was to scared to
@@yourgirlkaitlyn524l8OMG me too!
Hope they feel better
Are you stitch.
@@gamingwithharry6650OHANA. MEANS. FAMILY.
My pooping in my diaper mommy come clean it up😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@ArielSharpsame I do that
Well the glow sticks work but I throw up on the glow sticks too
Also puppy pee pads! I layer them between the pillowcase and the pillow so I don’t have to wash the whole pillow if my daughter pukes!
That's smart Im not a adult yet but I'll us this next time I have the stomach bug
When i was a kid and got stomach flu i ALWAYS ran to the bathroom when i felt like i was going to throw up, but i NEVER made it to the toilet. I always threw up in the doorway😂 after the initial throw up then i would have a trashcan next to me. But nowadays my mom and i joke about how i really did try to make it but never did. I have learned now how i feel before i throw up so i have enough time ti get a container or get by the toilet, thankfully. Good luck to the parents here❤
Edit: to clarify, me running to the toilet was the first time i felt like throwing up. After that i was given a trashcan to keep by my bed for the rest of my time being sick. I did not try to run to the toilet every time.
Same but i knever threw up on the floor, well kinda. So if i was sick my mom would put a bucket next to my bed so when i had to throw up i always did in the bucket. A week ago i was sick and i didnt have a bucket so i ran 2 times to the toilet. The first time i made it but the 2nd time i also made it, but barely so i had no time to go on my knees and it ended up flying out of the toilet lmao. I had to clean it bc my mom wasnt home
why.. i use to do that until i realize its way easier and better just to lay down and have a bowl.
@@twothousandandchewreal like standing up make it worse just lay down I use dog pee pads under the bowl
I just went to my mom first and then go to the bathroom
My son. God love him he makes it to the toilet by literally barely and soon as he gets to it projectile vomits all over it . #ithinkthedoorwaywouldbebetter
now I feel sick 🥲
edit 1: I am sick 🤣
edit 2: I’m better 😱
I am sick 💀
Same
I hope you all feel better ❤️🩹
i’m so sick 😭 i threw up 6 times..
@@that1chocoholic i threw up 6 times 2 weeks ago😐
I'm one that can sleep through throwing up, so tips for that?😅
Probably to make sure you don’t choke on your vomit! Sleep on your side for sure. Idk any other tips
I do that my dad woke me up and Carred me to the br my uncle I think had to come over an help he's a emt
designated sick sheets and maybe those pads they use for bed wetters underneath?
if you're already feeling nauseous probably ask someone to check on you in the night to make sure you're okay
Kids sick day episodes with throwing up 🤢.
The faces in the beginning 😭
when i was a kid my whole family got sick, for some reason im the only one that is not sick.. probably because i bite my nails and my immunity system got used to it..
We use an old gallon ice cream bucket with the lid. It's easy to carry and you can close it all up
Our family keeps the plastic coffee tins. The coffee smell covers the vomit smell.
@@TekieScytheI like the idea but idk if I could handle the coffee smell when I’m throwing up lol
In my opinion I think this video is so handy
We just got over the stomach bug at
My house
Mystery bug is everywhere
Lol my house my room is right next to the bathroom and when id get stomach sick id just grab a blanket snd and lay on the floor in the bathroom.
Same!
It's so hilarious because this video is perfect for me because I'm sick now😊😂
I have a chronic gastrointestinal illness, and I know all the ways to get sick, without upturning your whole life.
-if you get sick, and start dry heaving, try drinking some soda, like sprite, ginger ale or cola. The liquid can help the intense dry heaving lessen, and the sweetness helps the stomach acid be less intense.
-Look into disposable bags, especially in the car for motion sickness. Having a disposable bag can stop the mess, and not have barf all over the car. In a pinch, using 2 dog poop bags one inside of the other, works as well; the second bag is to make sure there isn’t a hole in the first one and to provide extra leak protection.
-Have medication ready. Sometimes, medication like Dramamine can help with nausea and vomiting. It’s a motion sickness medicine, but it can help with vomiting.
-introduce cold foods first, and encourage sucking on ice. With GI upset and illness, one of the major issues is dehydration. Sucking on ice cubes can help lessen inflammation of the stomach, and allows small amounts of water to quench thirst. Once more solid food is added, try freezing applesauce or getting frozen banana pieces, first. The cool can help with any inflammation or stomach pain, when solids are introduced.
-sports drinks are a good options. They act similar soda, by lessening the taste of bile, but also can help hydrate.
-if possible, try to buy unscented sprays or sanitizers. If you can find unscented products, then the smells won’t be associated with the stomach flu or vomiting. The smell of Lysol to this day makes me nauseous, because the only time I smelled it was when we would get sick. We had other products for cleaning that wasn’t that spray, and the smell alone can make me sick, all on its own.
-keep a fan, or other air movement device, near the person. I buy folding fans, in the Dollar Tree decor section, and use them to help with nausea. The moving air can cause nausea to get better.
-This last one is odd, but works great, for nausea: Alcohol Swabs. I am in and out of hospitals, medical clinics and other health facilities. For nausea, the #1 tip is to open an alcohol swab/wipe and take a few deep breaths, inhaling near the alcohol swab. It’s not 100% fool proof, but it does allow for extra time not throwing up, and allowing a person to get to the bathroom or a better place to get sick.
the smell thing is so real my mom would give me peppermint oil when my stomach hurt and now the smell of it makes me want to throw up lol
That’s the same reason I can’t stand the smell of Lysol spray! I got the stomach bug really bad in 4th grade and that’s what my parents used during that time when my sister and I were sick.
Tell me why I vividly remember the first time of a book. My dad made me suck with ice. every time I got sick, which was like every five minutes. Ugh the dreaded stomach bugbi get on at least once a year on tim I got it every month
😂🙅
I’m 61 and did the tablecloth tip when my boys were sick. Back then we only had the thick vinyl w flannel backing. Easier to clean than carpet.
when i was young and had to spew, id scream “BUCKET!!” and one would appear before me right on time
My emetaphobic ass just does it in the sink… I’m scared of doing it anywhere else… the trauma I can’t even 😭
Put towels and then the paper and then for like when they're in bed and I have to pick You can just put oh with 5 blue sticks so I can see
i love a good barf bowl, but i also use hospital style barf bags. a lot.
Damn glow sticks are an awesome idea
We always used our easter buckets from the previous year XD that way they had our names on them lol
Kids: mom I think I'm going to- 🤢🤮
Mom: great! Perfect time to film a video! 😆
Ughh i wish I'd seen this earlier before my kid puked all over my rug 😭
Oh no but you are a good mum aww
yall i just hatee when i wake up at night and trow up like it ruins my sleep!
A bowl? My mom used paper grocery bags- doubled up. I still remember it like it was yesterday!🤮😝
When my kids were grade-school age, I insisted they keep empty 3-pound margarine tubs by their pillows in case of norovirus attacks in the middle of the night. This cut down on the amount of puke on the sheets, even if it didn’t stop my _always_ being the one having to clean it up!
Unfortunately, this meant I was also _always_ the parent who got clobbered with the same bug two days later. And people wonder why I turn into Paranoid Penny during norovirus season even though I now have one kid almost grown and one kid almost flown!
I would recommend putting a berry soft towel like a camping towel if they say they feel sick at all it’s a life saver
I'm 10 and sick it's also flu season we're I'm at :/
The best tip I read is to use plastic wash basins and put a puppy pee pad in it. It will reduce the splash back a lot. You can also keep a basin with the pad under the beds incase they get sick at night
Another pro tip is that if you have the gallon buckets from ice cream save those, those are puke buckets, use them. Also, another thing you can put more than one bed sheet on a bed.Triple triple quadruple.Whatever you need to do put a s*** ton of sheets on the bed.So that way , if something happens , you just pull the sheet off and throw them in a pile, in the morning throw them all in the washer. And another tip ginger is really good for your stomach. Whenever you're sick or you have motion sickness, or whatever if your stomach is upset, ginger is really good for it, and so is mint
These are great tips thanks ❤
Hope they feel better 😂
“Mum why is my vomit glowing?”
Trash bags, make sure they stay open by having a small trash can or something
My dad always did big paper bags (like at wholefoods) lined with trash bags so that it could stand up on its own and be thrown out all at once. Of course this relies on a sick child to actually make it into the bag but now that I'm older (and still get sick with concerning frequency) it's a real godsend of a trick
Nice ed tips my kid was sick today and I’m going to use those ideas
I had a stomach bug once, I refused to eat or drink anything that was not water
Put a plastic grocery bag in the bowl so when they get sick in the night you just pick up the bag and toss it no cleaning dried sickness out of the bowl. You can even double bag it for extra protection
I hope they get better bless them
Or… hear me out. Use old icecream buckets instead of a bowl. That way the kid can carry it with them easily. That is what my parents have us do.
Imagine the handle breaks tho 💀
Buy emesis bags, they are the blue bags from the hospital. Really cheap and great for easy use and disposable
Literally smart.
It also helps to put some water in the bowl so it's easy to wash it xxx
😂
That's good for a backup but always teach them to run to the toilet with a bowl in hand just in case
Then it's just a flush 😅
The babys: *picks up the cover and vomit on the table so hard*
This is brilliant. My only tip is use a bucket, not a bowl.
Use a bowl lined with a plastic grocery bag and put a few paper towels in the bottom to prevent splashback. 😬
Disinfectant in the bottom of a sick bucket helps the smell and makes it easier to clean out
Great tips! Personally with my young child I don’t turn the lights off and prefer to sleep with her on the ground but the other tip was great for all parents! Saved my carpets for sure 😂
hope they feel better
Nah my parents taught me to just run to the bathroom in the middle of the night. One time I felt like I was really gonna puke so I sprinted to the bathroom and made it
you can also line the bowl with plastic wrap or a bag for the same ease of disposal as the table cloths :)
Yessssss girl table cloth amazing.
Btw if you have a designated puke bowl maybe you can paint the rim with glow in the dark paint. They will still be able to find it, you don't have to fish out Puky light sticks and it's probably also cheaper in the long run
She just dumps it all out including the glow sticks
@@Ur_localBiBbLe really? I wouldn't want to dump liquid like puke into a bag and hope it stays in there ... especially since the bag isn't completely proofed at the top. And then you'd have a reeking trash bin until it's emptied and you can clean the bin.
You could mix it with flour to make it less fluid, but then again it'd probably be less hustle to just dump the puke into the toilet.
Besides glowsticks are terrible for the environment, the paint is a one on thing and just stays there, which also saves you from running out of glow sticks. Plus it got some other nice uses, once you already own glow paint.
For example you can mark furniture corners so you don't bump into them at night or (night) light switched.
and a bit of my camping gear also glows ever so slightly at night, finding a flashlight in a big tent is less of a challenge now.
Thanks! Theres a stomach flu going around now where i live i wish i had these materials though!
i’m not even a kid but hell the glow stick one is genius
I like how I’m sick rn and I saw this and I was like ooooo 😂
I’m actually 🤒
Same:(
I would tape the glow sticks around the outside of the bowl instead
That first part got me tripping I have emetophobia
Me too!
Thanks for the tip!
Sending so so much love and hugs I’m so so sorry for everyone who is suffering or struggling in any way
Im glad you are all better now
Awesome parent right here
I hope your kids get well soon 😊 💓 💗 💖 💕 ❤️ 😊 💓 💗 💖 💕 ❤️ 😊 💓
Bro is a carpet better then a human life
Sleep on an air mattress and layer it with several waterproof fitted sheets. When one gets dirty just strip it off. We also do the bowl with the plastic bags layered as well. Great for the middle of the night.
Bro I don't think
I used a giant IKEA bag with an old towel on the bottom and glow sticks. Don't really have to aim with a giant bag, but I have hardwood, so the towel helps with the sound.
That is, you vomit light on the sticks
I remember when I was a kid I was home with just me and my brother because he graduated. I threw up and he didnt hear because he was listening to music and then my phone fell into the bowl and then I tried to take the throw up off of my phone and then I called my mom I told her I threw up and I could barely walk.
Get well soon you girl 👧 💓 ❤❤❤😊
In the 70s and 80s, we used a cleaning bucket. 😂
Another great tip is leaving possibly just an open garbage bag on the floor with the tablecloth leave about 2 or 3 garbage bags on the floor not closed opened that way if your kid gets really sick they can just open the trash bag and hurl away
Good idead
Me watching this the day after i was sick:
The first part is funny
😆
❤❤❤
me with emophobia: 👁🫦👁
Same here
Me too
My family doesn’t care enough to go through all this, just gotta wish luck and hope you make it to the bathroom on time 👍
That is the best thing ever. I’ll try that.
guys ik a way to make your self not to throw up if u hum it would probably help it helped me
I was sick last time but I recovered now 😢😢
A bowl 😰
Your smart
My mum keeps a big bucket next to both mine and my sisters bed. Because it's always there, i guess we just know
My mum makes me vomit in a bucket
You can cut a big rubbish bag to make it flat and cover the carpet with it so you don't have to buy table covers
The second I heard tis the season it made me want to sing tis the season to be jolly
ANOTHER TIP: PUT WATER IN THE BUCKET OR BOWL ITS EASIER TO RINSE OR CLEAN
With emetophobia, I DONT WANNA BE A MOTHER THATS THE ONLY REASON
Me neither
Did you guys test for covid?
Nope!
dude they have cold and flu
Could’ve used this vid last night😂😭
Same me and my hole family have been sick this week
I hope you feel better next time❤😊

Have you thought about their environment that they are living in. Maybe it might be a food that they are commonly allergic to or might be other external triggers
