First - hope surgery and recovery goes smoothly and quickly.
Second 1422 sticky base coat - it’s amazing and also because the odds of an indie maker having lab facilities to formulate their own formulas, I am almost positive they all source from a couple of wholesalers.
So I hypothesize that any green tinted sticky base is most probably the same thing.
Lyn B also carries it, and she sometimes has MASSIVE sales. I’m on her mailing list and I add a few bottles of her sticky (and ridge filling, but I’m not trying to smooth the sand texture you are I don’t think) base coats when I fall prey to her gorgeous colors.

    My favorites
    Top Coat: G&G and Cuticula
    Base Coat: Nail Aid Keratin
    Sticky Base: Orly Bonder
Water based: SheModern foil top coat
Orly bonder is great for nail art to apply chrome powders, glitter burnishing, pigments, and reverse stamping. It’s the best sticky base from all I have tried. My favorite water based top coat is SheModern’s water based foil top coat (it does not crack foils or chrome powders). Apipila’s smudge free is great (absolutely no smudge) but I won’t repurchase since discovering G&G does not smudge stamping. Apipila does not work with foil sheets (ruins finish) but works pretty good with chrome powders (finish is slightly less chrome). Maniology’s smudge free did smudge some.
For top coat, G&G is the best all around for me. No shrinkage, doesn’t smear nail art, and dries fast. Second is Cuticula’s for the plumpness. It dries slower. I will apply this as a second layer for plumpness or apply it first if I don’t have nail art to smudge.
I’m using up my other top coats for swatching or as a first layer for glitter manis (I like to use loose glitter on my nails and I don’t want to contaminate my favorite top coats).
My favorite base coat is nail aid keratin. I found that it is good to hide ridges if I use 2 coats. I’m thinking about trying dazzle dry base coat system at some point. I’ve heard it prevents staining and can apply regular polish over it.

Very informative. My holy grail topcoat is Cuticula. I can use it over my stamping or nail art and don’t have any smearing. And topcoat I like is CC Poesy and their bottles are 16.5ml. Because I have peeling and splitting my basecoats are Anchor & Heart Mermaid tears and Cuticula Mic Drop. I don’t think you can get the anchor and heart any more because of supply issues. That’s why I picked up the cuticula one to try and it has helped a lot. I am still looking for a good sticky base coat for when I stamp. Another base and top coat that I find that works well is china glaze eco glaze. You can get them on polish pick for 4 dollars a bottle. There is something in the eco base coat that helped my nails grow which is a struggle for me. The topcoat dries fast and I had no shrinking. I have heard rave reviews about Victorian varnish. Thank you for doing this video. Hope your recovery goes well

Super Dry is the best for swatching! I've never used it on my regular manis, so I'm not sure how long it lasts. My go to is Glisten & Glow, but I may have to give VV a shot. It's on sale for $7 rn 😊

I loved Super Dry when I found it a few years ago, but since switching to KB Shimmer and VV, I don't use it anymore....I don't think you'll be disappointed in VV...it's becoming a new favorite 😄

I love that your husband wears polish too just like mine! 😀 I fell out of love with Seche Vite for the reasons you mentioned. Vibrant Vinyls F&H topcoat is now my holy grail, as it's like Seche Vite without the drawbacks lol. My hubby loves the Glisten&Glow one as it is more long-lasting than other topcoats and since they don't paint as often as me, that is a huge plus (especially with all the housework lol).

I have been using the CND Sticky base coat and find my nail polish lasts a little longer. My polish never really lasts past four days whereas before I would be lucky to get one full day!😢
Orly Bonder didn’t work for me!
Oh wow! I am glad you figured out that the Essie base coat was the culprit on your polish not drying!
I love the Cuticula and Moon Cat (with MC edging out Cuticula). I just wish it wasn’t scented! Lol.
I got crazy shrinkage with Seche Vite.
I am saving this video to refer to when I have to buy more top and base coats.
    You looked lovely!

Oh interesting how some top coats work for some and not others. After trying and finishing 2 (maybe 3) whole bottles of that one I decided I didn't like it bcs my bottle thickened up way too quickly. And I had to constantly use thinner. But my main complaint with that one is that it bubbled up my mani terribly and took forever to dry.
But that's great that it works for you though!

Very informative video, ty!I agree with you abt the seche vite tc. I still own abt half a bottle but only use it up when I do full glitter manis bcs I find it tends to not pull glitter bombs as much as straight cremes. But once I use it up I do not plan to repurchase.
I am team G&G, and Cuticula comes at a close 2nd for me. Those are the only 3 indie ones I have ever used. Other than that I have tried some mainstream ones but dislike them in hindsight bcs Cuticula and G&G have spoiled me.
I have heard other ppl say really good things abt the Night Owl one and I must try it one day. And now VV is on radar too thanks to you!

Thank you so much for a video. After watching your video I ordered 2 bottles of Victorian Varnish Top Coat. Looking forward to try. They are on Sale for $7. At the moment I am using Glisten and Glow top coat. I love it, but it is getting thick very quickly. My favorite base coats are Orly bonder and Nailtique formula 2. I have the same problem with Seche Vite. It shrinks. Too bad I ordered 4 oz bottle. Such a waste.

Great video! I'm always trying to find the 'perfect' base and top coat. Agree about Seche Vite. I use it and while I like the finish and how quickly it dries, the shrinkage and thicking is annoying. I hear that Seche Vive is better. I may try that when I'm out of Vite.

If you want something like Seche Vite without the shrinkage and going thick so fast, I love Vibrant Vinyls Fast&Hard - you can even put it over polish that hasn't dried yet - it's amazing! Not spon haha, just a fan 😄

The ORLY Bonder made my natural nails look terrible. I've switched to Dazzle Dry for base coat. It's pricey, but my nails now look nice even without polish. It also seems to go pretty far. I got the bottle at the same time as my HG top coat, and there's a significantly lower fill line in the top coat than in the DD base coat, despite the fact that I use 2 coats of base coat and only 1 coat to top coat in every manicure. Speaking of HG top coat: I am now using Bee's Knees I'm Fast. I'm Very Fast. It dries really fast and doesn't cause shrinking. Cuticula does not work with my skin chemistry and the top coat caused a lot of shrinkage. The G&G top coat has toluene, which I will not use on my body.

Was it the color of the basecoat that made them look terrible, or did the formula do something damaging to your nail? I use that one and it used to work OK but I have damaged nails right now, (something stupid I did, so totally my fault), and I'm not sure if the issues I have with my polish lasting is a result of my nails not being healthy, or if my basecoat is the culprit.

I’m not a fan of the glisten n glow topcoat. It’s okay, but it turns color easily if you use bright polishes. I wear red a lot so topcoat is always pink. My Cuticula doesn’t do that. It’s probably my favorite topcoat I’ve tried.

That's interesting! I haven't experienced that with the GG topcoat, but also haven't used it a ton like the others....I'll definitely keep an eye out for that....thanks for watching ❤️
