The Dodgers Are BETTER Than We Thought

  • Going into the 2024 MLB season, people were worried about how good the Dodgers would be. Now that we're over a month into the season I think it's fair to say they're even better than we thought. They have multiple MVP candidates in Betts and Ohtani and an all-star lineup that's nearly impossible to shut down. On top of that their offseason moves have basically all panned out with Glasnow and Yamamoto leading the team in pitching. The Dodgers might not have the best record right now, but I'd be surprised if they didn't by the end of the season.

    Tyler Glasnow
    Yoshinobu Yamamoto
    James Paxton
    Walker Buehler
    Clayton Kershaw
    Bobby Miller
    Gavin Stone

I hope that them being so good on the hitting side will allow them to rest or not pressure their pitchers as much to keep them healthy. We're seeing a major push for pitchers to throw more, and throw harder and so many guys are going out because of it. Realistically the only major way to avoid those issues is to just not throw as hard, (not removing the pitch clock or more sticky stuff like some people say). With the dodgers being such a dominant hitting lineup I hope that they can allow their starting lineup to go a bit less crazy on velo through the season, keep themselves healthy and have depth free of injury because of that later in october. This is a team that realistically could have their pitchers throw 90% effort for the entire season and still make the playoffs. It would be interesting to see if doing something like that, perhaps even sacrificing the best record in the league, in order to have a Bullpen and lineup at 100% health come October would be worth it, that's simply not a luxury any other team has but it could work magic in an age where its almost assumed that 1-2 of a teams best pitchers and hitters will be unavailable come postseason.

I agree! I say the same thing about my Braves. Ever since they won the World Series 3 seasons ago, everyone assumes they will just steam roll through the season and walk through the playoffs. That's not how it works. You gotta pace yourself through the season. So, you have enough left in the tank for the playoffs. That's why more and more wild card teams are making it to the World Series. They are forced to peak at the end of the season, then they just ride that wave through the playoffs. When teams like the Dodgers and Braves win their divisions (basically) earlier in the season, it's hard to flip that switch come playoff time.

Honestly , who cares, what other fans say. If other teams ownership would spend the money, they too could be successful as well, and they would not be bitching at all. The Dodgers spend money,, but they also have a fantastic farm system, Smith , Buehler, Pages, Outman, etc. They have also pulled some quality players off the scrap heap, Justin Turner, Max Muncy, Chris Taylor, and Evan Phillips to name a few. Their front office has made smart moves, Betts for Wong, Downs, and Verdugo and then the obvious, spending smart money on fee agents, Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Teoscar. I guess my point is, lots of teams throw money around, the Dodgers throw smart money around. Sure I have been disappointed with their playoff dumpster fire,, that needs to change, but I still love the way the Dodgers have done things over the last ten or eleven years. Bleeding Blue since 1974, actually born into Blue in 1967, but the first thing I truly remember was the 74 series against Oakland
