- Tribute to my favourite film couple: Margaret Sullavan and James Stewart!
My original video with Frank Sinatra's "It had to be you" was deactivated, so all of you who want to see the first version, which is a bit longer, can watch it here: goldenageofholl...
music: It had to be you - Vera Lynn
scenes from:
Next Time We Love (1936)
The Shopworn Angel (1938)
The Shop Around The Corner (1940)
The Mortal Storm (1940)
Great, legendary actors. I am indeed a big fan of both, and love them both endlessly!
The Love of Jimmys'life
@kaja19 Logan further said:'When they first met, they did have an affair. And it was a passionate one. But their love affair was short-lived because a Broadway producer came to see the show at Princeton, and a few weeks later, Margaret was making her debut on Broadway. Jimmy said to me, "I'll never find another girl like her." I said, "Cheer up, Jim. Why don't you become an actor and you'll be bound to run into her again?" I got the impression that he didn't shrug off that idea.'
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost my password. I would love any help you can offer me
Ibrahim, you don’t know about the password recovery option?
I'm just so jealous right now, because Margaret got to kiss and hug Jimmy so many times!!!
;-)
A beautiful video, LadyViolet7. I am yet to see a complete film featuring Jimmy and Maggie, as Jimmy films are hard to come by locally. I'd never heard Vera Lynn's version of "It Had To Be You" before, but it's lovely.
James Stewart is one of the handsomest men to grace our screens.
Thanks for sharing your work with us!
Very beautiful tribute for two great legends of Hollywood! One should more often re-examine all these beautiful film. My preferred film is" it's a wonderful life " but I like too " The shop around the corner"!
Thanks for sharing.
@kaja19 Stewart's wife Gloria and Joshua Logan, a close friend of both James and Margaret, said that they had an affair when they met at Princeton in the early 1930s (1930/31) when Margaret was in a play named "The Artist and the Lady" and James Stewart was the stage manager of that play...
Thank you so much for sharing this absolutely beautiful tribute of Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan, the most romantic screen couple ever.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! This means a lot coming from a devoted Margaret Sullavan fan like you! Thank you very much!
And yes, they were a stunning couple!
How nice of you, Karolyn! I really appreciate it!
This made me smile, such a wonderful pair of actors, and the song was perfect too. Thank you for sharing this with us. ♥
I absolutely agree with you! Nobody can top them! Thanks for commenting! I'm glad you like it!
Love those classic films! I love Vera Lynn! What a wonderful combination. You created a fantastic romantic video.
Sending my happy thoughts through the looking-glass.

@wtmj100 That's exactly what I think! After they've had that short affair in the early 30s, they became lifelong friends and Jimmy never really got over her. But I just don't understand why she didn't marry him?! Why not even try? Many people who knew both of them said that she loved him too, so why on earth didn't it work out?
Jimmy's wife Gloria had her own answer to this: 'Jim was madly in love with Margaret Sullavan and she was with him. But she was more in love with her career.'
It seems that he wanted a wife who didn’t work, had children and stayed home with them.
She was not going to give up acting to be a stay at home parent.
I just bought Next time we love the other day! So I will be able to see all of the Sullavan-Stewart films
Bravo! That was wonderful! I loved the song, and all the clips were adorable :) Great job!
Jimmy and Margaret are my all time favorites. I love and miss them so much. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you for the compliment! I thought it was long overdue to pay them tribute here on youtube. I didn't know the Vera Lynn version myself until youtube forced me to replace the Frank Sinatra version. But I like it very much!
How cute! :) I LOVE Jimmy Stewart (no matter what movie)... but especially at Christmastime. I look forward to seeing more videos! :)
Thank you! I had lots of fun making it and am glad that it's being so well received.
This is soo romantic!!! And I LOVE romance!
Thanks for this dear!!!
Wonderful editing, I loved this!
@desertrose777 Thank you for your kind comment! :) I'm glad you enjoyed my video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
this is really well made. thanks.
They were so much in love that scrued him up most of his life.
I believe that he loved her dearly when they first met, but when she went on to marry his best friend Henry Fonda, he respected that, and since the three of them were already been friends and from my own understanding about James Stewart personality, I dont think that he was going to take any step further even after their divorce because that would have meant to destroy the trio friendship and knowing how loyal, honorable and honest Jimmy was, no way he would have done such a thing.
I believe that he loved her, but he was strong and wise enough to keep her as friend to the end of their lives and kept everything else to himself.
However, when I occasionally see clips from their movies together it comes to me perfectly clear from the way she was looking at him or hugging him in their scenes that was not acting from her part, she felt in love with him after loosing him, and she realised it too late, and tried to compensate that by demanding that he should be her leading man in her movies so his talent could be showen the way he deserved and in the right spot . Again this is my own understanding.
Thank you. :)
I shared this video on my Men of Old Hollywood page on facebook
Wonderful
Wonderful tribute!!
Love it!
Lovely video Corinna.
Thank you very much, Monika! I value your opinion!
They were a perfect couple, weren't they?! Thank you so much for your comment!
@CSInatalia2270 Thank you very much! I am glad you liked my video!
years ago when AMC was still a decent station they showed The Mortal Storm,.
I'd like to see it again.
Love is like two "kids" falling in love & raising a family for God & country. I had my chance & though I failed at times. With God's help I'll do better with what time I've got, loving God & then the one's around me.
Merry Christmas...
The Mortal Storm!
@staclynn72 Thank you! :)
