  • Today, we share with you some good news and some sad news. Unfortunately, we were left with only one chick from the broody hen, as we lost the others. This being our first year raising chickens and the first time we’ve left eggs to hatch, our lack of experience has shown.
We faced an infestation of fleas and ticks in our chickens, which is extremely dangerous for the newborn chicks. We realized that we should have ensured the broody hen was free of lice before letting her sit on the eggs. We managed to isolate one chick, de-parasitize it, and provide it with food and water since its condition was critical. After two days, the chick gained strength and was returned to the broody hen, who was also externally de-parasitized.🐓🤗
To prevent future issues, we sanitized the coops with fire and dusted them with diatomaceous earth. We are determined not to use chemicals on our animals, and this natural treatment worked, saving the little chick’s life.❤️🐥
It was a tough lesson, but we’ve learned from it and are committed to continuing on this path. Thank you for your support, and we will keep you updated on our progress.🤗
Additionally, an update on the chicks hatched from the incubator: starting today, they have begun spending their days outside, but we bring them inside at night.❤️🐥❤️
