Yeah, a lot of players usually get scared when their defender starts to crowd them and get aggressive. To be honest, these are great drills to give many players CONFIDENCE under pressure.
this isn't just for fitness, but for everything. basketball channels always provide excercises and content, but they don't provide schedules for those excercises. For an unexperienced person with time management like me, I watch all these videos but do not know what to do with them. I personally love this channel and everything it provides but I'd love to know which excercises are daily, biweekly, or bimonthly in order to maximize the efficiency of my overall (b-ball & fitness) training. Maybe you guys could consider this comment as a suggestion? I've rambled on long enough, but case and point: I really need help with 1. training & 2. Time management for that training, maybe this is something you could include in your videos? *I copied & pasted my old comment on this vid for more of a chance of being replied to. :)
Hey Coach Drew I was hoping you can Elobarate on the 5 second rule as a defender. Is this rule for just NBA? Or does it exist in NCAA and HS? I want to teach these drills to help avoid 5 second calls, thanks!!!!
Not sure if you ever got your answer to this, but....Its called being closely guarded(within 6 feet). You can't stand still holding the ball while being closely guarded for 5 seconds. You must get rid of it or dribble. Same thing goes for when you are dribbling while closely guarded.
Hey Kelly Camorongan, thanks for subscribing we really appreciate it. Dive into our playlists and let us know how our training works for you. - Joe @ TeamEGT
can u show me some drills i can do as someone who isnt relatively good and can do behind the backs and between legs very smoothly, as well as not knowing many sick handles or moves to get past someone such as crossovers.
Defensive pressure is pretty much the same no matter where on the floor, your job as the offensive player is to beat it. The principles in this video apply to getting picked up at half and or full court. We don't have that video. - Joe @ TeamEGT
EGT is truly the best basketball training program in the world by far which makes me sad to see this video (ruclips.net/video/KcdKrTPZdzY/видео.html) discredit all you guys have for us. Drew Hanlen in my humble opinion is the best coach in the world. Taylor Alan, Alan Stein and the rest of the crew are also amazing at their jobs
Zeddie Mackey First thing, you can hear the trainer say at one point: 'okay im foulin him i'm foulin him..', he's trying to simulate contact and pressure that is designed to make players more comfortable under pressure.. (of course he was giving just enough pressure to cause discomfort and not hurt the guy) Sometimes refs dont call contact like those, so if the player keeps his/her composure and focus after taking that much contact then the drill has served its purpose. When a player gets too fixated on the rules it could easily be a cause of frustration in-game.. By all means, if this happens to you in a live game, try to have your coach work the refs. But if the refs don't listen and the opponents somehow get a lot of slack, then a drill like this would have prepared you for such situations. Cheers, coach. Good one.
+Overdose, I see that now, you'd be surprised at how many comments we get like that where the person doesn't mean it the way Zeddie did. - Joe @ TeamEGT

A subtle element to the game and yet critical. Also, something that goes overlooked.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
Name those drills please
This is the kind of problem that you really need to solve for your game to improve, but fail to notice. GREAT JOB EGTBasketball! Thanks Coach Drew!
Thanks. You're welcome.

Best basketball coach ever
Thanks.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
GREAT for getting that mental resistence (to pressure) right. Many players have an aversion to the slightest contact.
Exactly. There are multiple lessons here.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
Drew love the drills man. I will definitely add this to my training tool bag for my kids.
Thanks. They're great drills.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
One thing I like is that ull show drills in full speed.
Thanks.

Preston Pratt Get the EGT program and it’ll tell you. 3-4 times a week with different workouts on extra days is good if you want.
Thanks for making these videos. Honestly, it's helping me a lot!
Great. You're welcome.

THANK YOU @EGTBasketball
can you do some lower body or leg strength exercises?
Did you look through our playlists?
- Joe @ TeamEGT

Hey Coach Drew is hand checking and arm baring the person illegal on defense
He's doing it intentionally to make the drill even tougher.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
Rocky Solomon you need to get used to that, becaude you don't always get whistles.
will shooting on a crooked backboard mess my shot up? I can go to the park but maybe not always, my portable hoop has a crooked backboard.
NBA & Clash of Clans Pro it's probably better since it's harder to finish

How to get foul defensive player?
I Wiiiish He was my personal trainer I already do everything he says in my driveway for Hooours
Keep doing what you're doing, just make sure everything you do is with INTENTION and not just going through the motions.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
Would this work when ur defender picks up right at half court and also do u guys have a vid on full court pressure or a full court play
Defensive pressure is pretty much the same no matter where on the floor, your job as the offensive player is to beat it. The principles in this video apply to getting picked up at half and or full court.
We don't have that video.

Thx
You're welcome.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
Ron doesn't seem happy lol
But there id 8 second vaiolation
Who would dislike this?
I think the same thing.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
Defenders
With the rip though.. I thought you couldn't touch ball with both hands?
Somebody show me some defensive drill...
thanks my 10 year old brother (yes I said 10) pressures me cause he like to foul alot😂😂😂 and Everytime I call foul he wanna wine about it
Get space and then break his ankles.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
EGTBasketball 😂
Um u can still be called 5 seconds if u don't create space
I'm confused. He can't do that first drill workout an 8 second violation
How bout just rip thru once or twice then advance the ball with a pass?
Ron Duece its practice
That requires a lot of stamina.
So does playing the game.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
If 1v1 defense, you got no choice. If not, better pass the ball.
Coach has clamps
He's a beast.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
5 second violation?
Not if you're actively moving and do what Coach Drew demonstrated properly.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
EGTBasketball so I have to dribble or move the ball around in order to not get a 5 second violation.
Usually, the refs only call the 5-second violation if you're completely trapped and don't have a dribble left.
- Joe @ TeamEGT
11 aggressive defenders disliked this very helpful video
Haha. True that.

is that legal in basketball
We wouldn't post it if it was.
