*CORRECTION: We completed one step in the Skidmore testing out-of-order. For maximum accuracy, match marking should be done AFTER performing the initial snug tightening, but results will be similar (though marginally less accurate) if it is completed snug tightening.

Is the Skidmore test being performed correctly? I believe the match marking should be done after performing the initial snug tightening. The nut is then turned until the Skidmore reads the minimum required tension. A torque value is read at this tension. The nut is then rotated further to a prescribed amount of turn. The amount of turn is measured from the initial match marking.
