      @stevencramsie9172This would be a fair point with any other team, but the Cowboys' cheerleaders are a huge draw, that's why they made this entire show about them.

    • @Cuddly-Cactus

      It's so infuriating that the football players (men) get paid millions of dollars and meanwhile the cheerleaders (women) are making peanuts and then getting told they will get "free" Botox, and salon appointments (and yeah they're barely in their 20s!) 😱🤬
      Can you imagine if the guys were told they were being paid with like gym memberships and f*cking sneakers? Do you think they would be okay with that absloute BS? 🤷‍♀️

    • @TeaghanYoung

      @Cuddly-Cactusthis is such a good point!!

      @TeaghanYoung
      Indeed! And I always think of what the reverse or in this case something similar would be like when it comes to double standards and blatant sexism.
      Professional football players sign contracts where they get paid millions of dollars per season, and so it was even more insulting that the cheerleaders had to do a zoom call to figure out if they should just go on strike to get a mere few thousands of dollars more for all their hard work. (They did get a raise, which is good obviously, but it's no where near what the men are getting.)
      And it's not just the Dallas Cowboys paying the cheerleaders peanuts, it's like that for every single NFL team. It makes my blood boil! 🤬

      It's amazing to me that they don't want to pay them a living wage when they could practice even more AND exploit them even more if it was a full time job. Having the whole team available for events most of the time seems like a no brainer

    Fitting the dancers before cutting them is DIABOLICAL!!!

    • @Cuddly-Cactus
      @Cuddly-Cactus 7 months ago +107

      Indeed! And plus the make overs too. Giving these women new hair styles, cuts, colors, extensions ect, only to find out later, NOPE sorry, you didn't get picked! 😱
      I've been watching the show, and the way they string the women along for months is just so cruel. One of them even says that when you audition for The Rocketts you go in, do your dance routine, and then they call you and let you know if you made it or not.
      And that's the way it should be! But instead of doing it the right way, the DCC picks 66 women to go through training camp, which lasts for months, and there's only 12 open spots for the cheerleading squad! (And they don't even announce who makes it at the same time, they do it on a weekly basis, so one or two of them they cut, then the next week, same thing, and I hate all of it! It makes my blood boil! 🤬

      @Cuddly-Cactus i think its bc the rockettes are viewed as "professional dancers" (esp in nyc where theres a dance audition around every corner) and the dcc are "just cheerleaders" in texas where there might not be as many opportunities. So the dc can just screw around with them for fun.

      It's such an infuriating insult! Every single one of thoes women could easily be a fashion model or a dancer for Lady Gaga (or some other pop star) or an actress, ect.
      And instead of paying them with f*cking Botox and hair and nail appointments they should be giving them knee and hip replacements after they retire from the cheerleading team! Which they will undoubtedly need in a few years. It's beyond disgusting!

      And that right there is the problem! To me, it feels even worse when women are telling young women they need to get Botox and fillers!
      I mean, no one should ever be making comments like that to anyone, but it just feels extra gross when we see older women telling young (and already beautiful) women they should get that stuff done. Like ma'am please sit the f*ck down and STFU! 🤬

      Lol, many people do NOT go to the games because of the cheerleaders, they’re just a bonus. Doesn’t matter how far teams get in the playoffs, the fans go for the football. That’s why teams that are historically terrible every year like Cleveland, fill their stands every week

    • @Cuddly-Cactus
      @Cuddly-Cactus 7 months ago +8

      @stevencramsie9172
      Yeah we know that most people attend sports ball games to watch guys run around and toss a ball to each other. (Which is super boring compared to what the acrobats/dancers, aka the cheerleaders, and doing on the field. Plus there's music!)
      And I really don't get the whole thing of let's go watch this losing team play again this week even though they lost so much last season. Small town pride must be the reason, well, that and once the country fair is over there's literally nothing else to do in places like Cleveland Ohio!

      To be fair, do you think the football players (men) need to memorize all thoes pages of crap like the cheerleaders (women) do? 🤷‍♀
      Football players also talk to the press and their fans, but I don't think I've ever seen any vidoes of them sitting around reading pages of information that they need to memorize before practice. These women are really being treated super unfairly and it's disgusting.

    • @CaulkMongler
      @CaulkMongler 8 months ago +5

      @Cuddly-Cactus they don’t need football players to be smart, they don’t even need em to be able to talk. They only need results and to be able to work with their teammates, and cheerleaders def aren’t gonna be getting concussed on the field on a regular basis.

      @yevgeniyaleshchenko849 what do you mean "calm down"? i'm already calm lol and sure, most women do age naturally, but women in the entertainment industry are constantly pressured to get botox and fillers just like the girls in the video, which is disgusting since some of them aren't even in their twenties yet.

    • @Cuddly-Cactus
      @Cuddly-Cactus 7 months ago +20

      @HélioReghin
      Yeah that part is so messed up, do NOT tell women that are barely in their 20s that they need Botox and fillers like its a f*cking job requirement. Instead make sure they get hip and knee replacements. (And in the show one of the women that had been a DCC for a few seasons got one of her hips replaced and was using a special type of brace and crutches to get around, and yeah, she was only in her mid 20s. I felt so bad for her, and you know they recommend that these new joints need to be replaced every so often so she's going to need more surgery eventually.)

      You would think that it would make more sense for the NFL to do that, especially with all the straight men watching the Super Bowl and all the other games every season! (I'm so glad by husband isn't one of these sportball nut guys! We watch some of the Olympics together but that's about it as far as sports go for us!)

    It feels so interesting to watch this as an Eagles fan because the male cheerleader on the squad for that team (I can't remember if he's the only man on the squad or not) is a special education teacher in Philly when he's not cheering. Watching them talk about financial stuff with cheerleading so interesting because the amount of rigamarole that they go through just to get on the team makes me feel like it has to be a full-time job

    • @Sofia-jd7dz

    • @Cuddly-Cactus
      @Cuddly-Cactus 7 months ago +48

      @Sofia-jd7dz
      There's that and the fact that she had gone through a rough break up with her boyfriend, and she was struggling with some mental health issues. (And before that she was in an abusive relationship with a crazy alcoholic guy that was not only physically and mentally abusive, but he was stalking her while she was hanging out with her new boyfriend.)
      There's even a scene in the show where she describes how awful he treated her, and the fact that she filed charges against him for domestic violence, but they were actually dropped. She had several witnesses and even photos of the bruises he left on her body but somehow that wasn't enough evidence to get him convicted for DV. It was both heartbreaking and infuriating to watch. She seems like such a sweet person, my heart really goes out to her. 💔

    • @DAQ34
      @DAQ34 7 months ago +4

      @Sofia-jd7dz thank you for explaining. I did see the series, but I thought they were saying it was something else that happened that was not mentioned.

      @Sofia-jd7dz
      Yeah, I saw that in the one of the episodes, and the reaction from the other cheerleaders was kind of ridiculous, they were talking as though she invited Ted Bundy over!
      I mean, if she didn't know the guy that well then that's not great just because of the potential safety issues, but literally nothing bad happened! No one was harmed in any way.
      Besides, someone would have to be a complete moron to hurt one of the DCC, like that's definitely going be catch attention!

    Previous college male cheerleader here, just wanna give y'all my perspective. I had NEVER cheered for a college before I tried out, only had high school band & mascot experience, but when I made the squad my entire semester of school was paid by the cheerleading scholarship. We had to buy our own shoes & pay for our megaphones (only male cheerleaders used them) but total that was like $100 or so? We had practice EVERY Mon/Weds/Fri/Sat from 6am-8am, and again from 6pm-8pm the same days & worked out in the gym on our own time (I usually went at 5am to already be there for practice) but as far as getting paid outside of the scholarship, we got nothing & that was fine with me because I loved cheering! I cannot FATHOM being a DALLAS COWBOY CHEERLEADER making that RIDICULOUS amount of money considering how much they're put through! From tryouts to training camp to cheering at games, I seriously cannot believe they aren't being paid at LEAST a fraction of what the football players make because if you know anything about the Cowboys, the cheerleaders are arguably more popular than the football team itself! We got to take our uniforms home but on certain days we left them on campus because we had someone who took care of cleaning/tailoring them when needed so the fact that they have to WASH THEIR OWN UNIFORMS is crazy to me especially when the players don't! The players literally make MILLIONS and the cheerleaders are on the field the same amount of time as the players AND perform for halftime, while these ladies are working full time jobs and have school etc too!? Like that's insane to me that they have the audacity to dangle Botox & other free stuff in their faces in exchange for fair pay when really they can get that stuff for free anyways by doing collabs or partnerships or sponsorships with the brands individually or as a team! Those ladies should be getting paid at LEAST a couple hundred thousand or something more than $15-20/hr considering all they have to do to get prepped for game time! It's genuinely crazy to me that they don't make more or even get health insurance like people really don't respect the arts like dance and cheer because they're more commonly women driven! I can bet any amount of money if cheerleaders were majority male, this wouldn't even be a CONVERSATION! They need to revisit the pay situation a few more times even though they've gotten a little raise since this came out like those women deserve SO MUCH MORE than what they're being given. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are THE MOST POPULAR CHEERLEADERS IN THE U.S., and should be respected as such, JUST LIKE THE FOOTBALL PLAYERS!
