when i use the pen tool it automatically turns into a minus sign and deletes points. So i use the line tool but then when i go to trim, these lines dissapear. Help!

when using the pen tool, make sure your using the actual pen tool and not the remove anchor tool. before applying trim make sure the lines are expanded.

I found that is the letter is selected or the object is selected while using the pen tool it automatically makes the pen tool delete anchor points. How ever if you don't have the letter or object selected, and hover the pen tool over an anchor point it turns the anchor point square white instead of blue allowing me to add lines with the pen tool. Hope that helps you. :)
