Tems I'm listening 🎶 to this with a friend of mine. Wish you could see the smiles youve put on our Zambian 🇿🇲🔥 faces . In conclusion RESPECT TO NAIJA PEOPLE 🇳🇬❤💯🔥. 👌
Replay on repeat; that's the new wave! 🌊 Tem is the drug, and replay is the high. We return for our daily dose, and still, it's not enough. "Je Tems," I mean Je t'aime! ❤️ - Somong
I was at Target store here in California taking a piss in the bathroom when this came on the radio I put my phone up to the speaker with Google on the tell me who this was and I'm hooked!
She might be one of first artist to introduce A&B (Afro beats and blues) to the western world 🖤💚♥️ I can see her being a smash hit in the US..they are eating essense in the black community
Her style of music defo fits in the Alte genre too... not all Nigerians, Ghanians etc make afrobeats... some of them like to make music in other genres and mix them together. For example Tiwa Savage she grew up listening to both RNB & Nigerian music(the other genres too not just afrobeats) and so she mixes them together. So she and Tems and the Ghanian-American singer Amarae fit in the Alte(Alternative African music) genre. If you go into that Alte category you can do anyhting because those young people grew up lisening to many genres of music from the continent, from the UK and from North America. Plus you have the second and first generation of african youth who grew up in Australia too and they're making their own music and they have many influences also. I just like the variety we're getting as a music fan...and it will encourage other black ppl from across the diaspora including the US, the carribbean and latin america to get into different genres of african music not just afrobeats. P.S. I know the Ghanian artists are next to get exposure outside of the continent and their diaspora communities globally.....then the South africans because their house music and amapiano music are both blowing up... its just very fun to dance too. But I really want the congolese musicians to get their shine in North America because they are already popular in France but not that this generation does not care about singing in other languages or dialects(pidgin english, patois, kreyol etc) then they'll be more open to francophone african singers or french black singers too. It slowly happening with Aya Nakamura and Lous and the Yakuza, Fally Ipupa, MHD, Dadju, Tayc... not to mention of french carribbean artists doing the zouk mixed rnb. Uggh there's so much to discover....
black people globally just need to keep continuing to experiment with music and forget about sticking to one genre....just mix it up if that what they feel inspired to do. And not listen to record labels or producers who try to change their sound too much. Just make music they like and it will sound good with time. That's what Tems did because she knows her self despite being a young woman. She has a vision for her music projects. That's what you need. Think outside the box and learn from the artists who inspire you but still find your unique sound.
@@Bonitaymorena you have a very good point. I laugh when people say she's an afrobeat singer. nah, this lady can do anything from r n b to pop to reggae to soul. She doesn't fit into one box. Nigerian Alte singers like her are just stereotyped as afrobeat cos they are black. To me, she's an higher version of Lauryn Hill and Lauryn wasn't even regarded as an afrobeat artiste.
@@olugbengaomotosho2408 Yep it's like how black american or black Canadian artists who are doing rock music or alternative music or electronic music were being discriminated against eventhough those genres were created by black ppl. To the point that the term afropunk had to be created to recognize those roots since black americans created rock and house music. And even on the continent they have their own versions of electronic music too so its ridiculous when ppl try to pigeon hole us into a few genres. Even in the Caribbean if you are from a certain island like Jamaica and you want to do rnb music or electronic music you face adversity from other black people there saying you can't make that type of music here it won't sell.... what happened to this Jamaican girl so she had to move Germany for a bit and Bjork retweeted her cover of one of Bjork's songs. And here in Canada FeFe Dobson... she was a mixed race half jamaican half white canadian singer who was doing rock and she came out around the same time as Avril Lavigne...but she got no promotions eventhough she had talent and basically made it easier for the black and mixed girls to do rock music generations later. Samething goes for Kelis, Janet Jackson. In the UK for AlunaGeorge who were dominating electronic music in 2013 and she was being treated poorly by the british music industry and they only recognize the guy who made her beats(george) because he is english/white eventhough he has no desire to be in the spolotight and prefers to just make beats while aluna sang the vocals and wrote the songs. She is now a solo singer but she speaks out against the discrimination against black and mixed women in the music industry. But thankfull because of the internet it's improving now.

So very true. Greetings from germany!
What part of this is "Afrobeat"???
Tems is not an Afrobeats artiste.
This isn't afrobeats. Just Cos an African person is singing doesn't make everything afrobeats.
