SADC-EAC Summit | Conflict in DRC - Isaac Lukanda

Leaders of the Southern African Development Community and the East African Community are meeting today and tomorrow to discuss the ongoing conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The DRC is a member of both SADC and EAC, while Rwanda is a member of only the East African Community. Both SADC and EAC have initiated separate mediation efforts, the Nairobi Peace Process and the Luanda Peace Process.

You are right that SADC has tended to favor a military intervention approach which is preferred by President Tshisekedi of DR Congo. On the other hand, EAC approach has favored a political and diplomatic solution
