qotd: do you have a large collection for any of your character dolls? aotd: i have a good few nanea, lea and now caroline outfits which i’m so grateful to own - but not many of their accessory sets or big ticket items :)
I have Addy's original meet outfit and accessories, her Beforever meet outfit and accessories. I also have her limited edition stilting outfit from 1997 and more.
What a wonderful haul you got for so little money! Great job!! I end up buying bargains on eBay that need to be washed, so I have a lot of experience washing AG clothes. I haven't had any problems using warm or hot water. I always hand wash everything in a small tub so that I can let them soak for a while. The biggest thing I've found is making sure that you wash like colors together so that you don't have colors bleeding onto each other. I use a little laundry soap, sometimes scrub a little with a toothbrush (if that's needed), soak for about 24 hours and then rinse a few times to make sure all of the soap is out. I generally put the wet clothes in the washer on the spin cycle to get the excess water out before I hang them up (also helps to reduce wrinkling that happens if you hang them up really wet). I really enjoy washing my second hand AG clothes - they feel so fresh and new once I'm done. :) I hope that helps!
wow wish i had read all this before doing it lol! caroline’s nightgown is quite crinkled now as i didn’t think of spinning them like you do. i definitely have realised i have more clothes to wash, so will be referring back to this comment again lol!! thank you for always watching, your comments really make my day - so nice to talk to other collectors ☺️
@@irishseadollies The fabric on the nightgown may wrinkle badly no matter what you do, so don't fret. :) I've heard other people suggest using a steamer on wrinkled AG clothes, which I think would be much easier than using an iron, but not everyone has a steamer. But you can always try rewashing (or even just rewetting) and then spinning and laying flat to dry to see if that makes a difference. Did the yellowing come out when you washed it? How about the blue dress - did that discoloration improve, or did it stay the same? Yes, I agree that it's so very nice to talk to other collectors. I always love it when you reply to my comments. :)
@@irishseadollies Oh, and I should have mentioned too that my most recent eBay AG purchase was one of Caroline's outfits. It's the only outfit I have of hers, but it's my very favorite. I sold one of Kit's outfits to another collector on Instagram, which gave me some extra money to finally justify buying Caroline's Work Outfit. And it's normally very, very expensive and I found it for a pretty decent price. The next time you're on Instagram, take a look. I posted the outfit on my custom #26, Annika, just about a week ago, but it was my most recent post, if you go right to my profile. :)
this might seem absolutely crazy but i've only just discovered i have to press a different button to see replies to my replies on youtube studio... after 2 years. i cant believe how many comments i've missed out on! to my shock the yellowing did come out of both the nightgown and the blue dress. i then cut the snags on the blue dress (the ones that i could tell wouldnt unravel) and then sewed up the hole. i had to cut off a lot of the bow too. but for the money i spent on it, the blue dress is now the only one not in pristine condition and it's still very wearable so i'm delighted, as i know all too well how much they cost. i've seen your caroline work outfit and adore it! it's always been one of my favourites. i used to love the photos of it with her calf in the catalogues.
If you want to wash, the best is to use water slightly colder than handwarm and handwash in a bit of liquid detergent. Don't scrub them. Be gentle. Rinse well. Lie them flat on a towel to dry. Then iron on low. The gloves you may need to put in a small bowl with water and a bit of bleach, (after you have washed them) for a half hour. Rinse well. Again, lie flat to dry. Do not use a machine or wrong out any water. Gentle is the key.
thank you! i followed a youtube tutorial and washed everything out very well. it's completely perfect now, and if i come across more things i need to wash i might make a video. this is really great advice though ☺️
Oh, and I meant to add that if you haven't painted the shoes yet, I wouldn't paint them if I were you. I think you'll be happier with pink shoes than with painted ones, as I think the paint will chip off and make them look odd. But if you've already painted them, then please ignore my comments. :) Also, I have the shoes that go to that outfit, as I found them separately (or with a group of other items, I don't remember now), so you never know, you might still find those shoes separately too. :) They're so pretty with embroidery in the toes. I put mine with the Pretty Print Outfit from 2007, as that outfit originally came with boots that discolor with time, so I only have the jacket, top and skirt and Caroline's shoes look perfect with it. :)
thank you so much for this! i will probably only paint them if i find the correct kind of paint for the fabric. i don’t mind so much since i have the duplicates- but i’ll definitely take this into consideration. i loveee the og shoes, jealous that you came across them like that!
@@irishseadollies I hope you come across the shoes separately too. It's so fun to find a group of items together when you can use several of them and they're a good price. :)
