Even tough it's obviously maintenance I find it ironic that we have had some small incidents with Joker and Harley Quinn Crazy Train since Kingda Ka closed
Cedar Point went to Intamin first, however Intamin wanted more space, and they would have needed to take out another ride to do so (I do not know that park that well, so not sure which one it was.) Zamperla said they could do it in less, which is clear that they could not. There is also the fact that the state of New Jersey was probably not too keen about them modifying the ride again. I understand why they closed the ride, the cost to operate it was absolutely immense. However, the manner in which they did so was literally the worst possible way to do so.
I’m extremely anxious to find out what the replacement of Kingda Ka will be and I hope it’ll be just as tall and as fast as Kingda Ka to keep the marketing. If it’s not a reimagined Kingda Ka, there’s absolutely no reason for them to wait until next summer to announce it!
I could see this happening especially it would edge out competition with Hershey Park, Dorney Park, Six Flags New England, and Especialy Lake Compounce.

Only an enthusiast would think this "will haunt" Six Flags. And that's fine, any hobbyist in any hobby is likely to minimize or ignore the business needs, practices and decisions that keep the machine running and the profit flowing into the corporation that administrates the hobby. Ridding itself of Kingda Ka (and hopefully/probably Top Thrill 2 as well) will be quite the opposite of a haunting. This is an extremely wise and beneficial business decision that should've been done long, long ago.
That is true! It's not a story, it is simply what happened. Intamin submitted a proposal, and it required removing Iron Dragon in order to extend the layout
Yep. Also, when TTD was being built, they were ready to remove Gemini in order to build it. Intamin was able to shorten the launch to make it fit without tearing down Gemini
Ngl, if I was a Cedar Point executive, I wouldn't hesitate-maybe Iron Dragon could've even been relocated to Michigan's Adventure. Also, they would have some new space for a nice new family attraction.
Zamperla, Cedar Point, and Cedar Fair’s catastrophic failure is why this is happening. This should be getting a TT2 treatment from Intamin but cedar fair would have to be smart to do that.

If I was designing a reimagined kingda ka, I would add a twisting back spike, and the coaster starting to launch backwards. I would also replace the top hat by an inverted top hat, and then go to green lantern's plot for twists and turns, a zero-g stall, and a zero-g roll, and finishing into a few airtime hills.
Correct, Zamperla killed Top Thrill Dragster, making major mistakes that will result in Top Thrill 2's demolition. Cedar Flags will only benefit from both of these headaches and money pits disappearing into the annals of roller coaster history, joining Son of Beast as some of the biggest coaster mistakes ever made from an engineering, financial and business perspective.
The old Six Flags killed KDK. It wasn’t profitable and the main reason the park wasn’t really improving. This will give the park a breath of fresh air to start new with more land for a better ride.
For the lodge I can see each room having photos of attractions/coasters of the park. I can also a memorabilia of Great Adventures history. Aswell as both an indoor and outdoor pool and deluxe villas/rooms with exclusive views of Great Adventures roller coasters. For example, assuming the hotels lot will be in an original portion of the parks parking lot, then rooms facing that way can see Kingda Ka/ Eltoro. Rooms facing the boardwalk can see Superman, Flash and Nitro in the background. (Imagine waking up seeing Ka) The hotels entrance can be designed as a standard lodge with a modern take. A large sign that says “Great Adventure lodge” will be located here with Great American Scream machines loop half over it kind of like an arch (to pay omege to the rides past presence and location) Guests who stay in the Great Adventure lodge can get perks such as getting into the park 30 minutes before or stay up to an hour after parking closing. (Park hours varying tho) or a priority pass that works every 2 hours or whatever. (This can also work for hurricane harbor.) I really don’t know if there would be an indoor pool or outdoor (due to New Jersey not being like California or Florida where it’s hot asf everyday) but regardless, I could see a pool shaped in the original logo of Great Adventure. The hotel will also include a transportation system that can bring guests to Hurricane Harbor.(again not always available due season closures/ weather) Ofc a special entrance to Great Adventure from the hotel would be perfect. This might be too Disney related but I’d also like to see a sort of park hopper type of thing where guests can get a ticket that will allow them to go to the dry park for like a while, then go to the water park for a bit, come back to their hotel and then spend the rest of evening at the dry park. Regardless I’d love to see great adventure do this and everything you said with Ka.
I think this might be simpler than what is being presented, we know Cedar Fair holds grudges, and I think they saw an opportunity to remove the rollercoaster that topped Top Thrill and they took it. Now Top Thrill 2 will be the tallest, fastest rollercoaster on the continent, back at one of their legacy headline parks. Whatever they replace it with won’t compare to Ka, especially if it is some form of shuttle coaster. Shuttle coasters can be a fine addition to any park, but they really shouldn’t be the headliner.
@chadmorris946 true coaster fans actually do know how roller coasters work like @ElToroRyan. If you truly are a fan and want to know how they work, it doesn’t take much to do some proper research in how they function and how to properly design them. They have newer coaster games, like Planet Coaster, with ALOT more specifications and design requirements to properly design them.
Intamin was asked to do dragsters reimagining, but itamin was giving issues . Because of that , they aren’t going to deal with intamin, because at the end of the day , besides coasters, intamin doesn’t do anything else. Cedar fair can just get a better or like product from other manufacturers
Did they announce the closure of the drop towers attached to Kingda Ka? I remember hearing about Kingda Ka and Green Lantern but no mention of the drop towers…or did i just miss that part of it 🤔
Since we don't know much about it, would it be possible to still use the tower without it being a "reimagined version"? I know they said they are removing Zoomanjaro which obviously is a bad sign (and bad in it's own right) but i still haven't found an official statement saying that they are for sure taking down the tower structure. I mean, they could place track on different sections of the tower so it isn't the standard Accelerator model with a launch-perpendicular top hat and then return track. If that is hard to wrap your head around, just use the Polercoaster as a comparison. I mean, it could be any number of layouts that use a tower without be a reimagined Kingda Ka. I'm not saying that's likely, just possible. If I'm wrong about that and they have officially announced that the entire tower is coming down then that sucks. I'd appreciate a link to that announcement
I never got to ride King Da Ka so I do think CF now 6F should have given the GP a season to say good bye and ride again. I always loved Top Thrill Dragster… those hydraulic launches will be missed.
If using LSMs was an option to get it up to the necessary speed, wouldn’t they have done that at Cedar Point instead of building a swing launch spike tower?
As much as I would miss the hydraulic launch I think having all those elements tacked on to the end would make it worth the trade. You lost me at the hotel portion though I don't think that six Flags needs a hotel....
How do we know the didn’t try to make a Kingda Ka 2. It wouldn’t be smart to make a KK2 as the cost to do so would be a lot if. If KK cost 25 million in 2005 today it would be 40 million and since this ride is old almost 20 things would need to be replaced. The thing with removing this ride is that now SFGAdv can save money to improving the park and building new rides. Also why do people think Cedar Fair has a grudge with Intamin, after 2012 Intamin didn’t make a new thrill coaster in America till 2020 and they’re steadily coming back to the US. Did legacy Six Flags also have a grudge with Intamin they didn’t work with them since 2011 and were ment to get a coaster this year. I do see that maybe if theme parks don’t like Intamin they may only use them if they’ve got something special to offer but pretty much every manufacturer has a Launch coaster then it’s who you know works the best.
Never met someone this delusional about a ride on Six Flags. It was really expensive to maintain and compared to other rides it doesn't get as much ridership. Use your brain for once, oh wait you never had one to begin with.
They never announced the closure of Zumanjaro so hopefully they are going to reimagine kinda ka. Add to it. Longer. Inversions. More trains. Etc. I think they're doing this to have an all new entrance plaza.
I mean I've honestly decided I'll hate the replacement no matter what. It doesn't JUST need to fill the shoes of Kingda Ka. It needs to fill the shoes of Kingda Ka AND THEN make me say "yea it was justified to remove 6 rides with no proper sendoff". Something to think about with this project, I'm sure I'm not alone with this perspective.
As someone who doesn't live terribly far from Great Adventure, I continue to remain so upset that they're not giving more consideration to reimagining Kingda Ka since I'd be so grateful if I were ever able to get the chance to ride a reimagined version of it. And I continue to wonder just exactly how it's going to be demolished. Will explosives be used to take down certain sections of the ride?
After TT2, they had absolutely no desire to repeat history. There's zero guarantee that the current Intamin team would have been any better than Zamperla. There's actually more people at Zamperla that worked on both rides when they were originally built than there is at Intamin.
I mean... you say it's not a good business move to replace it with another record breaker...but the record breaker probably won't cost $10M plus annually to maintain.
We SHOULD have 2 Of The Best Coasters In The World With Updated Strata Coasters Especially With How Far The industry Came Since Their Opening.. What We Got Was a Piece Of Trash That Might Not Work Ever Again a Top Tier Ride Removal for Most Likely a Mid Replacement , and Probably Losing The First Of It's Kind Sooner Now . Cedar Fair / Six Flags You Sold So Bad You Really Ruined What Could Have Ben Actually Legendary For Us Humans Now Were Just Kinda An Embarrassment .
STOP THE SILLY THOOSIE WHINING. THIS WAS A BUSINESS DECISION THAT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED IN DETAIL ALREADY. I have no doubt ka would have be reimagined had CF not hired the dollar tree of coaster manufacturers to reimagine TTD...Your thoughts have been exactly what I've been saying for well over a yr...Great video..Bigger picture if the new six flags continues to ignore intiman amongst other blacklisted companies the future is bleej, why travel when all the parks are filled with clones of rides in other parks
What if they are tearing down the tower, because reusing TTD's tower is one of the main issues with TT2 and now its a headache to negate that, so they dont want to do that again.
Six Flags is working with Intamin again. But on smaller projects in the US. They will have to prove themselves again before they will ever put $30 million dollars into a paperweight ever again.
SFMM could beat the height record if the ride was built on Samurai Summit. And if they chose to use a tunnel, they could get the longest drop record too. Use Superman as the infrastructure and build up and out from it.
I don't think Falcons Flight's records will be broken. One factor is cost. The Saudi government is funding the roller coaster which probably cost about 500 billion to build. No park I know of has that kind of money. Factor two Land. Falcons Flight is taking up a lot of land in the middle of the desert. They have the land to do it. I don't see any other parks having that kind of space to build something like that.
So has any seen or know if there is a demo permit for THE TOWER structure for kingda ka at all? NO!!! BECAUSE THERE IS NO DEMO PERMIT FOR KINGDA KA AT ALL. They are taking down the track and off of the main tower structure. Hence they are taking down Kingda Ka the ride but the structure itself! Hence the new 2026 record breaker could be 400+ tall and all those records it lost
There will be. They've gotta deal with the failure of their first three permits. Ka is the hardest one to demolish. They're going to have to put more effort into the paperwork. But they have explicitly confirmed that top hat is coming down.
@quintopia what ride had they have to do that too? What permit have they had issues with? Because it was for Green lantern not kingda Ka. They've never filed a permit for Kingda Ka and have yet to.b
@QBallTech All three of the permits they had filed failed and have to be refiled. But I'd be surprised if they don't get the Ka/Zumanjaro permit filed within the next month.
@@quintopia You must be new to Cedar Fair Hi we're Cedar Fair even though we change their name we're still the same. Until that permit is filed, The structure will remain up. The track will come down, when they reference the top hat that is the track. A top hat is a roller coaster element. For example a corkscrew, a loop de loop, a hill, rollers, heartline roll, stall, inversion. Those are all elements like the top hat is an element It is not the structure. If I put a tilt-a-whirl inside a building and then building is named building b, does the ride change its name to building? No
@QBallTech Okay, let's say you're right and they just remove the tracks for Ka and Zumanjaro and leave the tower structure to build on. They're *still* going to need permits to do that disassembly, not to mention the rest of the track. The fact it has not yet been filed yet tells us nothing.
I still believe that KA will get re-imagined. SF just can't or wont admit it, and with all the other tear downs and the idea that KA would not open in 2025 they had to say something. Mis-info, dis-info..fake -news with the state of TT2 that also adds to the lack of info. Time will tell, but SF has a way to save it, and sure its future is in the hands of TT2., and its successful re-opening. With the recent testing of TT2 that could also add to the idea that KA could be redone. ( if issues are fixed) Also Zamperla may need to do KA on the cheap for reparations. On the other hand I was shocked that Green lantern was not converted to a floorless and sent to SFSTL, Valleyfair or WOF. .
Was planning to go NJ and take my daughter to ride king next year ....but they decided to remove it .....she finally got tall enough to ride big coasters so sad about the removal
A launched RMC T-Rex would blow everyone away but sadly I don’t think the new Six Flags would take the chance since RMC has proven to make costly launch systems to keep running. Any opinions?
The reality that nobody wants to say is that WHATEVER THE REPLACEMENT IS, IS GOING TO BE LIGHT YEARS BETTER THAN KINGDA KA! everyone is just emotional about this ride being removed because its an old ride that has sentimental value💯 but the fact is Kingda Ka was not that good of a ride, the drop tower was better than the actual coaster! whatever they replace it with is going to be way better then that old junker of a coaster was
Yes, because I'm going to trust the company that is combined of all the worst people from old Cedar Fair and Six Flags. Cedar Fair's executives are in charge at the top, but there's a TON of people in upper management making a lot of the terrible day to day decisions of the old chains in the new company.
I'm sorry but your whole logic doesn't make any since to me because, if they were indeed to reimagine KDK in that small footprint of land, what would be the whole point of ripping out Green lantern and twisted top spin. I'm my opinion, CF always had an ax against Six flags and KDK for snatching the title away from the now piece of junk TT2. This merger was perfect for CF to do a hostile takeover to slowly eliminate their biggest competitors and reclaim what was once their title. As soon as CF placed their top management at the head of the table, the first agenda is to get rid of two world record breakers at Six flags, KDK and Zumanjaro. CF sits their and announced the closing of 5 rides at GA just to say to make room for a record breaker multi launch without even going into much details, FOH; pantheon at Busch Gardens has four launches and it not a record breaker, I also do not believe that Zamperla destroyed KDK, Zamperal destroyed TT2 and CF destroyed KDK, this is why CF did not give a F**** about KDK nor the other 3 rides proper farewell (how disrespectful) this wouldn't have happened under the old six flags co. leadership.
… nobody fight me, but … does this not take six flag great adventure off the map a bit, forgive me for not wanting to drive across the country for a few good coasters (& not the KING of coasters)
Now, if Cedar Fair actually went with Intamin for the re-imagining of Top Thrill Dragster into TT2, I bet that the re-imagined version of Kingda Ka will become a top 10 worthy coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Listen, they lie. Great Adenture lied about Ka’s fate this entire time… first saying it’s staying for 2025 and rumors are rumors, then silence, THEN sunsetting announcement. Maybe Ka won’t be demolished I’m still holding out hope because maybe they don’t understand the mistake they’re making and are paying attention to us. Zumanjaros cables are still intact while Ka’s cable is slack, AND no demo permit filed yet!
I feel the plan was to reimagine Ka with an extended layout but it was going to take over the Green Lantern plot. I believe Green Lantern was going to close at the end of this year and get removed like it is now. Ka would have opened for its 20th season and then closed mid summer 2025 to start the conversion to open in 2026.
I AM NOT BUYING A SEASON PASS FOR GA FOR FIRST TIME IN 20 years. Good job GA. I go every weekend to ride Kingda Ka. The rest of ga feels like an old run down park whose company stopped taking care of it. I only go to GA for one reason. LOL AND FLASH. 😂😂😂😂 WHO CARES
Another crying thoosie. Hint, thoosies are mid single digits of a regional parks attendance. You're not as important as you think. The GP don't care and will just say, there is knew ride where that launch green thing was..ie...most don't even know coasters names.
So could this play into the rumor about an unnamed manufacturer building a 1000 ft high launch coaster? Are they entertaining the idea of building bigger coaster. I was under the impression that this decision on Kingda Ka was about maintenance and costs. So, Dennis Speigle, from International Theme Park Services (does anyone know if he or the company is legit?), claims that he’s seen the plan and that it is waiting to find the final “international” location. Not sure what he means by “international.” Does it need so long of a runway that it goes through two different countries? It’s a strange use or misuse of the word. Anyway, the article was from Southern California News Group, by Brady McDonald.

Intamin needed Iron Dragon's space to expand, which would have gotten rid of that coaster
Could they be holding out to see if Zamperla fixes the train issue, see if its a success, and then make a decision?
I hope so, I really do. Been praying every night.

It’s not unfortunately. The entire structure is getting imploded, so therefore, no sign reimagining Ka.

Cedar fair just seem to be a pain to work with.
Better actually be special I really don't want any spinning coaster
Pleeeeeaaasse have this mockup built in a simulator for a POV. I would love to ride this
Lol it’s not getting reimagined after Top Thrill 2
I mean... you say it's not a good business move to replace it with another record breaker...but the record breaker probably won't cost $10M plus annually to maintain.
Zamperla blows 😂
We SHOULD have 2 Of The Best Coasters In The World With Updated Strata Coasters Especially With How Far The industry Came Since Their Opening..
What We Got Was a Piece Of Trash That Might Not Work Ever Again a Top Tier Ride Removal for Most Likely a Mid Replacement , and Probably Losing The First Of It's Kind Sooner Now .
Cedar Fair / Six Flags You Sold So Bad You Really Ruined What Could Have Ben Actually Legendary For Us Humans Now Were Just Kinda An Embarrassment .
There Is a World Where Both Of There Rides Get Fixed and Run Beautifully With Different New Layouts !
.. We're Just In The Wrong One 😢
STOP THE SILLY THOOSIE WHINING. THIS WAS A BUSINESS DECISION THAT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED IN DETAIL ALREADY. SIX FLAGS LEGACY PARKS ARE A FINANCIAL DUMPSTER FIRE AND CEDAR FAIR IS TRYING TO SAVE THEM, SOMETHING THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER PROBABLY DONE. THEY SHOULD HAVE LET SIX FLAGS HAVE THEIR EVENTUAL IMPLOSION & BANKRUPTCY UNDER SELIM THE FOOL BASSOUL
Love the concept, but are you sure its not a record breaking skyline lightning racer?
I have no doubt ka would have be reimagined had CF not hired the dollar tree of coaster manufacturers to reimagine TTD...Your thoughts have been exactly what I've been saying for well over a yr...Great video..Bigger picture if the new six flags continues to ignore intiman amongst other blacklisted companies the future is bleej, why travel when all the parks are filled with clones of rides in other parks
Yes, it would be a much more practical approach and save Six Flags money. It would still be the tallest coaster and new attraction altogether.
This ride looks like an intamin launch coaster I made called blackbird, it was inspired heavily by ka
What if they are tearing down the tower, because reusing TTD's tower is one of the main issues with TT2 and now its a headache to negate that, so they dont want to do that again.
That would have been cool !!!!
Six Flags is working with Intamin again. But on smaller projects in the US. They will have to prove themselves again before they will ever put $30 million dollars into a paperweight ever again.
Great video Brandon!
Delusional thoosie logic per usual from a business ignorant thoosie.
If it’s bad it’s going to be known as Kingda Blah
Do something to beat a record on falcon flight. I’m not sure America will ever beat the hight record but I believe we can still beat the speed.
What's with all the splash screens of words? Anyhoo, it's gonna be a T rex. Lol
On the other hand I was shocked that Green lantern was not converted to a floorless and sent to SFSTL, Valleyfair or WOF. .
Cedar fair executives won’t let it be better than TP 2.
Was planning to go NJ and take my daughter to ride king next year ....but they decided to remove it .....she finally got tall enough to ride big coasters so sad about the removal
TT2 will reopen, the trains were a prototype things go wrong with prototypes it will be fixed and TT2 will reopen
RCDB has Kingda Ka as Standing But Not Operating now not sure why
Who said King da ka wasn’t getting redone ?
They did go to Intamin for TT2.
I'm still not sold they are demolishing the tower, roller coaster utilized or not. The numbers don't make sense, due to the size of it.
A launched RMC T-Rex would blow everyone away but sadly I don’t think the new Six Flags would take the chance since RMC has proven to make costly launch systems to keep running.
Any opinions?
They should’ve called Intamin to begin with
Uhhh six flags is working with intamin...quantum excelerator at new england.....
The reality that nobody wants to say is that WHATEVER THE REPLACEMENT IS, IS GOING TO BE LIGHT YEARS BETTER THAN KINGDA KA! everyone is just emotional about this ride being removed because its an old ride that has sentimental value💯 but the fact is Kingda Ka was not that good of a ride, the drop tower was better than the actual coaster! whatever they replace it with is going to be way better then that old junker of a coaster was
Someone needs to cancel ^^^^this ones^^^^ RUclips account.
Probably.be a launched wing coaster
This is probably not gonna age well
Volcano closed for a worser coaster, Top Thrill Dragster closed for a worser coaster, hopefully it doesn’t continue.
Ka is one of the best rides and I worry the "replacement" won't be better.
Yes, because I'm going to trust the company that is combined of all the worst people from old Cedar Fair and Six Flags.
Cedar Fair's executives are in charge at the top, but there's a TON of people in upper management making a lot of the terrible day to day decisions of the old chains in the new company.
Great video Brandon. I think that layout would have been incredible.
Bull. They should have RMC'd it. 😂
It isn’t on Zamperla at all, this is all the fault of Six Flags
can someone PLEASE make this in planet coaster
Why the hell can’t they bring intamin in to fix up Ka??
Ummm I’m pretty sure six flags themselves said a reimagining is NOT HAPPENING… - let’s STOP with the false hope
They are making a big mistake.
The sudden closure of Kingda Ka was ridiculously unprofessional for such a legacy coaster and I will die on that hill
LOL
UNLESS ITS A GIGA LAUNCH COASTER. I DONT GIVE AN EFFFF. AND IT WILL NOT BE. SO IM DISAPPOINTED
