I love your small dairy of cows ! I miss those days milking cows in a barn like that when I grew up. Feel sorry for Allan having to drive a John Deere , LOL ! But he lived to tell about it ! Keep warm and God bless !
Thank you Alan and Jen for taking time to help your MIL get out, best daughter and son-in-law ever, gotta luv farm families 🥰🥰🥰 Love Mom Oh and Dads JD made your Day😂😂
Al, before Jen explained what you were doing running a Deere, you were fixin to get a corner torn off your IH man card. Great video. Always love to see the kids helping out with smiling faces while doing chores.
I love you guys!!! Keep doing what you’re doing. And believe me when I know what you’re doing. You have no idea how many people love envy you!! Take care of those cows!
Funny when I saw the two of you on the John Deere, I remembered the story that when dad was dating mom he did not have a car so he would drive 6 miles to see her on a John Deere A.😂
I'm glad u like that Mac saw. that's what makes us all different. I was born and raised on a power shift 4020. I learned at a very young age all tractors are ok but what's important is if they start at how hard they're to shift. My family was all red until 64. The power shift 4020 turned us green and we never went back. And here I thought I was the only one who uses Massey combine weights for stuff other than Massey combines.
John Deere 4020... Very handy and popular tractor. What I thought was kind neat was the Mc Collough saw and the Husqvarna cap. There's a little bit of everything on a smaller farm.
Hey Allan you looked like a natural on that GREEN BEAST 😂. I had a Mac 10-10 I bought new in the late 70’s and it had a 20 inch bar on it I cut many a Rick of wood with it through the years, it was great saw.
One of the best machines I've owned was a '68 4020 power shift, had that thing better than forty years. It was 8 years old when I bought it. Looks good on you Allen. Best regards from Indiana.
My grandpa's got a 40-10 and a 4020 no bucket loader though the 4010 runs good 4020 needs an overhaul unfortunately he was done milking cows before I was born I wish we still farmed but I got memories on the 4010 we used to use it to plow the garden and I used to sit on the fender and my pa would drive that's how I learned how to
I've owned a few McCulloch's, they are great saws, but I'll tell you, the ones I had were twice as heavy as any other saw I had. Using one of those will certainly give you an upper body workout.
Dad used to have a McCulloch saw it was a great little chainsaw. It finally died a few years ago, should have had it rebuilt. We bought a Stihl to replace it been happy with it so far. 4020 looks like a good runner but it sure wouldn't keep up with an IH lol stay warm 👍👍
We used to milk in the old tystall barn also whit delaval,we had 6 milkers and always milked whit two persons. And i quess i know the next stop for Alan is the JD dealer for sure, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Looks like you had some great conversation while milking. That’s something I definitely miss in the tie stall , it’s just not the same with the robots now.
Hello people nice to see you all again great video always busy but I guess that’s farm life right …….I hope your all well thanks for the video stay safe god bless until next time oh and how is your hay and silage holding out good I hope
Jen's family is originally from Southern Minnesota. They had 40 acres that they raised Appaloosa horses on and some corn and soybeans. Jen's Dad worked for a John Deere dealership when he was young, so he's always been a Deere guy.
I still got dads mac 10 10 still runs good 3rd pull starts he bought it back in the 70s the chain titghtner has a crack wear the screw turns in have to tighten about 3 times for a pickup load we made a buzz pole pile every spring .then buzzed it up inthe fsll had a buzz rig on front of h intrenational pile about 12 cords in the basement thise saws are all steal not a piece of plastic on them
think that alan doesnt really care what kind the tractor is as long as it doesnt give him a lot of trouble! got different kinds now whats his favorite brand, i dont have one myself got 4 different kinds, you guys milk just like my buddy he does 50 grass fed ,love barn pics
Snow plowing............When I left my MN dairy farm in 2012, I would plow my driveway like Alan is doing to open up but then the township plow( road grader with a wing) would plow private roads for a low fee after public roads were plowed. That wing would eliminate the banks of snow along edge of driveway and thus it wasn't prone to drift in easily. Sadly, I heard a couple years ago they quit plowing private driveways.
Why do you keep your cows shackled in the barn in such a confined position? Seems like there is a better way. I am not a tree hugger nor a leftist. I am a Conservative Christian so please do not take this personally. I live in the country in North Idaho in a Conservative area where my neighbors have cows in pasture. Maybe you can educate me why you choose to shackle your cows versus utilizing a less confining method. Keeping animals shackled in that confined position seems very out dated. Great video otherwise. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle.
Do you crate your puppy at night or when you are away? The same idea. It is as much to protect the animals as anything. They spend time outside as much as possible, but when it is really cold or very bad weather they need to be kept indoors. Your reference is also coming from a short time on a video. They are not in their barn 24/7. One could argue that the tie stall cows are better off than those wandering around a free stall barn in the pampering they get.
Our barn has stanchions and tie stalls. The weather has been -30 lately so we keep the cows in. On warm days they go outside and during the Summer they are outside full time and they are only in the barn for milking and then they go right back outside. Our goal is to someday build a free stall barn for them. We do all we can to keep them comfortable while they are in the barn. They are on rubber mats and get fresh straw. Hopefully that answered your question.
I love your small dairy of cows ! I miss those days milking cows in a barn like that when I grew up.
Feel sorry for Allan having to drive a John Deere , LOL !
But he lived to tell about it !
Keep warm and God bless !
The of the best channels on youtube

Bunch of precious children just what our country needs God bless you guys!
Hey Man that JD sure can push snow .
That's a nice saw! That 4020 looks and sounds great!
Thank you Alan and Jen for taking time to help your MIL get out, best daughter and son-in-law ever, gotta luv farm families 🥰🥰🥰 Love Mom
Oh and Dads JD made your Day😂😂
What a great family working together.
Ive spent alot of hrs on a john deere 4020 myself with front end loader .Excellent video as always.
Alan on a JD? He handles all that power darn well lol. A little Green paint on the yellow saw gives it a little more power too. Lol
Be careful, that chainsaw doesn't have the chain safety.I love your taste in tractors (everything)😊.
Al, before Jen explained what you were doing running a Deere, you were fixin to get a corner torn off your IH man card.
Great video. Always love to see the kids helping out with smiling faces while doing chores.
O yeah look at that big smile on Allen's face while on the 4020!!!😁
Sounds like it's running pretty good
I love you guys!!! Keep doing what you’re doing. And believe me when I know what you’re doing. You have no idea how many people love envy you!! Take care of those cows!
It’s January 25 here in Arizona and 70 degrees . And you call 32 degrees a beautiful day. You are so funny 😂
Yellow saws and Green tractors are what I grew up on. Nice.
Look forward to watching you guys. God bless

This 4020 doesn't have the power shift, but I know Jen's Dad said he'd like to sell this one and get a power shift one.
Very interesting. I feel like I'm right there with you and your family. God bless.
John Deere 4020... Very handy and popular tractor. What I thought was kind neat was the Mc Collough saw and the Husqvarna cap. There's a little bit of everything on a smaller farm.
Great to see the kids working and riding the snowmobile. Looks like you might need a better bulk tank by looking at your cows udders.
"Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌👍🇺🇸
I have 4 McCulloch chain saws 60 cc from 1950 s still working4 pioneer 60 cc still working good machines

Alan dad bought a new 4020 in 1965 starting in 1966 I spent a lot of time in the seat. That is a big reason why I have a 4010 now.
You look good running a Deere Alan. My Grandpa and Uncles were all John Deere farmers.
ALAN YOU DO LOOK GOOD ON THAT 4020 JD TAKE CARE GOD BLESS
Those are great saws! It'll pull a 28" with ease as long as it's sharpened right.
Hey Allan you looked like a natural on that GREEN BEAST 😂. I had a Mac 10-10 I bought new in the late 70’s and it had a 20 inch bar on it I cut many a Rick of wood with it through the years, it was great saw.

This one's not a power shift, I know Jen's Dad would like to find one that was.
Yous look good on that john deere 4020. Love all your videos

Spray foam might work. Cold here in Maine too.

Boy, I sure wish we had that straw chopper for bedding when I was on the farm.
Looks like you had some great conversation while milking. That’s something I definitely miss in the tie stall , it’s just not the same with the robots now.
Those old yellow saws are tough I got a few of them.

Yeah, I think they are around 90.
it looks cold thats all i can say and great video
Looks like the snow is starting to pileup
There's probably 12-14 inches on the ground, but where it's drifted it's getting deep.
Love my John Deere tractors. After driving that you’re going to want to trade those red ones off that’s what happened to me
Great job milking cows

Looks like winter over there. Did Jen's parents used to farm?
Jen's family is originally from Southern Minnesota. They had 40 acres that they raised Appaloosa horses on and some corn and soybeans. Jen's Dad worked for a John Deere dealership when he was young, so he's always been a Deere guy.
I had a McCulloch 610 that was just a boat anchor.
We called them that too.
I had a 55 and later a 7-10
whats that little straw shredder called? It's really neat
The brand name is WIC, and I think it's called a small bale chopper
Yeah he wasn’t enjoying the 4020 at all. ;) lol
Hello is this Margaret?lol
I'd get ready for the end of the world. ...a John Deere....really?! Lol
I still got dads mac 10 10 still runs good 3rd pull starts he bought it back in the 70s the chain titghtner has a crack wear the screw turns in have to tighten about 3 times for a pickup load we made a buzz pole pile every spring .then buzzed it up inthe fsll had a buzz rig on front of h intrenational pile about 12 cords in the basement thise saws are all steal not a piece of plastic on them
hi allen... love your channel and your videos... i was wondering if you heat your barn or do your cows heat your barn?
The cows heat it. I actually have to run fans to keep it from getting too warm in there.
That saw sounds great I love splitting firewood not to sure on that John Deere bud I would have told Jen to blur out my face on that lol
Lol!
Do you have a mix of breeds for a specific reason?
Nope, Jen just likes the variety.
I have 5020ccpoulan runs good cuts fast have agression chain 70 ag chian you get one you love way cuts
👍👍
Allen I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that my wife makes me drive IH which don't have to twist my arm lol
Curious. How long does it take you to do the chores?
About 3 hours
think that alan doesnt really care what kind the tractor is as long as it doesnt give him a lot of trouble! got different kinds now whats his favorite brand, i dont have one myself got 4 different kinds, you guys milk just like my buddy he does 50 grass fed ,love barn pics
Can a 10-10 handle a 28" bar ?
Not sure if a stock one will, but this one has been built up some, so it should.
Is that 4020 yours or the inlaws? Nice looking tractor 🚜 I have a Elvis Presley edition JD 4010 part of my JD collection
It's the inlaws.
Snow plowing............When I left my MN dairy farm in 2012, I would plow my driveway like Alan is doing to open up but then the township plow( road grader with a wing) would plow private roads for a low fee after public roads were plowed. Sadly, I heard a couple years ago they quit plowing private driveways.
Yea 4020
Be careful with that saw, it looks like it does not have a chain brake on it!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👀👀👀☕️☕️☕️👋👋👋🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Got pet cow
👍👌🇨🇦❤
Alan, green is a good color for you
Sure hope you washed your hands and took a shower when you got off that green pile!
Lol!

@@trinitydairy Got it. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
You're very welcome.
Our family Jersey cow immediately wants to go back into her bed (stanchion) in the barn, when it's cold like this.👍
