it's a handful of professionally offended people or attempting to make themselves relevant. many years ago Dave Chappelle did a skit called the "Niggar Family" which was filled with what some might called "Harmful and offensive stereotypes". It was also funny as shit. Dave has always pushed these boundaries in pursuit of finding humor in the darkest of places. The difference is every other community that's been part of the jokes or skits over the years had a sense of humor and again, most people in the community do. It's just the vocal minority that have become obsessed with this push and pull. You can't be the most powerful force on earth, canceling and essentially killing people while at the same time being the victims.
The thing is the most powerfull force in the world is not lgbtq or black ppl, is straight cis white man, and they do play victims like saying that lgbtq and netflix try to ruin the family unit when... one is literally just trying to exist and the other is a company runed by straight cis white man Im pretty sure you know this, but just in case is never too late to remember. (Im not saying black ppl play victims or any of that crap, i know is pretty clear, but jic)
The only thing I learned from this situation is jokes are funny when they're directed at everyone else. Particularly the black community which white liberals love the most to laugh at
No one is on a pedestal... How hard is that to understand. Just because the media spotlights and holds up a minority doesn't intrinsically elevate them above the rest of humanity
He. Did. Not. Make. Derogatory. Comments. Context is everything and you, the media, simply can't grasp that. The only way anything he said is derogatory is if you wash away the context. If you laughed at "Space Jews" and are upset at "Team Terf" the problem is with you, not Dave. Just because you didn't get the joke doesn't mean it's cancel worthy.
I've watched The Closer 3 times and I cannot for the life of me see where he is being derogatory or disrespectful of the trans community. I think the special is one of his best, and obviously if the transgender community is upset, they have not watched it or listened to it in its entirety. Comedians make fun of everyone because that's the art form. If "comedy" hurts your feelings, then surviving in this brutal world is going to kick your arse.
I mean implying his dead trans friend was a predator was derogatory and his whole black community vs trans community (as if transness is white exclusive) thing could be considered hate speech and inciting violence because he is pitting two people against eachother. Freedom of speech does not protect hate speech or inciting violence. It has nothing to do with being sensitive or being offended, his special is borderline illegal.

Life is art. Trans create themselves into what they desire to be. Which is no different than than anyone who desire to gravitate to what they want to be. To outlaw the comedian community isn't it fair to outlaw the trans community? All communities are accepted in America.

I am a gay trans man, and I fully support Dave Chappelle. I read the news stories before I saw the special, and it built up such a horrible image in my mind. Then I watched the special, and was instantly relieved that Chappelle didn't turn into some transphobic monster like the press wants us to believe. Chappelle shows us that comedy is truly an art, but unfortunately, art can be subjective. Even when the artist himself stands up and clarifies everything, some individuals would rather continue to see themselves as victims. The ONLY 'damaging' things he said in reference to the trans community were: 1. J.K.Rowling isn't transphobic; She actually still has on her website a loooong essay ranting about how she isn't transphobic, but that she wouldn't want to share a bathroom with a transwoman because trans women are secretly men in dresses trying to attack women. If Dave was aware of just how much of a turd she is towards the community, I don't think he would be on the same side as her. 2. Gender is a FACT; Actually, the science about gender is ever-changing, and more recent studies show many trans people's brains are wired to the gender they identify as, not the gender they were assigned at birth. Thus, there may be an overlap between transgender and intersex. Again, this line of his special sounds more based around ignorance than wishing to mislead people about the transgender community. All in all, everything said was part of a COMEDY SPECIAL from a man who's known for throwing jokes at EVERYONE. Every line was set up and framed as a joke, and many were put in to tie together other parts of the comedy special. That's what makes him an artist and not just a comedian. You can cherry pick ANY line from a comedy special, and OF COURSE it's going to sound terrible and hateful. That's what the media is doing. Please just be a reasonable person, learn to laugh at yourself and your unfortunate situations, and only take heresay at face value.
Tired of abuse of the word equity. Equity does not mean that one can ignore science, misrepresent science, or create a special world for yourself that does not exist for anyone else.

He was saying that TERFs have a point and he explained it. If you disagree then this could have be a teachable moment, which would be a lot more beneficial than getting angry about it. It wasn't hateful. Nothing that he said came from a hateful place. But it made certain people uncomfortable. This is good. TALK. LISTEN. Dave isn't dividing people, he's trying to help us. The backlash is dividing us. Because ya'll suck at listening. I do to, it took me a lot of effort to get better at it.
It's gotten to where no one is allowed to have their own opinion much less voice it!! Part of being an American is accepting each other as who we are, even if we disagree!! That's the whole point of The Bill of Rights and the US Constitution!!
We should be supporting Dave! It's crazy what these groups do when they don't like things that don't suit their narrative. Most don't have an issue with trans or that community... Unless they are trying to create one? Because personally I'm getting fed up with all this crap.
okay i know nobody has asked for my two cents about all this but i am a stand up comedy lover. My top two favorite comedians are John Mulaney and Dave Chapelle. Let me start off with the fact that i am very gay, and i have been in love with trans people before so i have nothing against any community. And this is just getting taken wayyyy too far. Sure a lot of people assume and think Dave Chapelle is a transphobic comedian. This is just simply not true. I have watched every single one of his specials many many times. And yesterday i watched them again trying to find what was so "transphobic". I found absolutely nothing. He has literally had a transgender woman open up for one of his shows and he has a trust fund for her daughter because that woman sadly passed away. She stuck her neck out for Dave, and everyone on twitter attacked her for it. Which quite honestly makes no sense to me. None of the people on twitter knew Dave personally but she did, and she was trying to say that the "transphobia" thoughts about Dave, they weren't true. And Dave has stated that he has NOTHING against the transgender community. Nothing. People only hear part of the joke and it goes in one ear and out the other and boom it's "transphobic". But the fact is, this generation (which I am a part of) is just too sensitive and cancel culture is HUGE. Sure sometimes it's good, like in cases of Shane Dawson. But cancelling John Mulaney and Dave Chapelle is just plain out dumb. If you actually stick around and LISTEN to Dave's jokes, you would know he isn't transphobic, but instead people just want to assume. And now talking about the newest John Mulaney show in Ohio which Dave opened up for, many many people have said Dave had very transphobic things in his set. Which I definitely believe he brought up the trans community but I don't believe he has openly said anything along the lines of him not liking the community, or he thinks less of them, etc. All you're hearing is stuff from people on twitter, which I won't believe any of it because it's basically a lot of " he said/she said" type situations. Until I know word for word of what was actually said, then I will make a decision, because knowing what Dave has said in his specials, yes he'll bring up the trans community and he will bring up the fact that many think he's transphobic, he is open about it and he shuts it down. So many people are trying to cancel this man when it isn't needed. So, until I know what was actually said at his opener for Mulaney, then we will know if he was actually being transphobic, and if he was, then yes, he can go. But if it was just talk about the community like he usually does. Then this will be needed to put to damn bed. So many people don't know the love Dave has in his heart for every community, and that breaks my heart.
I don’t think Dave said anything wrong. People are so touchy. Okay, let’s take it back to basic science if we have to, genetics is simple. Male or female. Nothing can change that genetic structure regardless of what you want to call yourself. It’s that simple. We respect whatever you want to call yourself, but if you take it back to science basics, there’s your answer.

It is not trans exclusive, it is male exclusive. Women who identify as men are included in radical feminism. ET also claims that he made derogatory comments about gender...no, he didn't. I don't believe in cancel culture. I think it's ridiculous to remove someone's platform just because of one wrong thing they have done. what I do believe in, is taking responsibility for the things you say. I don't think his platform should be taken from him, I'm sure he is funny as times, but people need to understand that in a world where minorities like POCs or people in the LGBTQ+ community are hated, harassed and assaulted so frequently, it becomes difficult to determine the difference between jokes and genuine hateful opinions and language since they're so closely related. Sure, Dave may not have meant this to be a hateful segment in his show, but that segment has drawn in a lot of people who have a similar mindset about trans people as the jokes he was making and therefore caused a negative environment which can be incredibly harmful to the mental health and stability of trans youth. Most trans youth already feel as though they are wrong for being who they are because of opinions of people they were raised by or people they were around when growing up. they do not need people enforcing that thought that they are wrong and their identity is harmful to the public. As I already said, I'm sure Dave Chappelle did not mean to be genuinely hurtful in that segment of his show, but the words he said and the jokes he made created an environment that became unsafe for trans people and he needs to understand and take responsibility for it. he doesn't even need to apologise, it would just be nice if he managed to learn how jokes like this, despite how harmless they may seem on the surface, can cause major issues further down the line. I definitely think that at some point people will be able to joke about these things and the community will be able to laugh along, but when the discrimination and hate is still so fresh in people's minds, people will find it difficult to find the suffering of their community funny.
I love trans people and I love Dave Chappelle, and I watched the whole special and I’m confused why the special is considered offensive- when you hear the whole context, he really wasn’t saying anything against them.
The ONLY 'damaging' things he said in reference to the trans community were:
1. J.K.Rowling isn't transphobic;
She actually still has on her website a loooong essay ranting about how she isn't transphobic, but that she wouldn't want to share a bathroom with a transwoman because trans women are secretly men in dresses trying to attack women. If Dave was aware of just how much of a turd she is towards the community, I don't think he would be on the same side as her.
2. Gender is a FACT;
Actually, the science about gender is ever-changing, and more recent studies show many trans people's brains are wired to the gender they identify as, not the gender they were assigned at birth.
Did you guys watch the special? He talked about more than gender.
Clearly not otherwise we wouldn’t be here listening to this nonsense.

These groups ._.
okay i know nobody has asked for my two cents about all this but i am a stand up comedy lover.
All he said was, “Gender is a Fact.” Isn’t gender a fact? You’re either a Man or a Woman. I want to be a Two-Spirit 🐼 Panda. Can I?
I don’t think Dave said anything wrong. People are so touchy. Okay, let’s take it back to basic science if we have to, genetics is simple. Male or female. Nothing can change that genetic structure regardless of what you want to call yourself. It’s that simple. We respect whatever you want to call yourself, but if you take it back to science basics, there’s your answer.

Male or female. That's it. Can't change it.

I have friends of different orientations and every one of them laughed at this. If you're offended you're not comfortable with who you are.
well said human👍🏾
Factssss
what you said is like saying “i have a black friend who laughed at this so it’s fine”
@@macabre_mess yes. It IS fine. Black people are not a monolith. I don't have to agree with all black people because I'm black. So if your black friend finds it funny, good on em. It's fine for them.
@@EloquentlyEse and for the rest of us who say “well i’m black and personally, it was just racist and harmful, than funny”? 🤔
Ppl say Dave has gotten better bcuz they don't fckin know shit. He's always been an equal opportunity comedian. This man is what we desperately need right now for everyone to hear. Laughter is the great equalizer, it connects us all. Lastly, I know with every fiber of my being, he is here to heal this cancerous condition of entitlement and hypersensitivity. W/💜,🙏& unconditional love, G
What we need is segregation and the end of discrimination laws.
Agree!
Fuckin nailed it.

Wait. Pardon?
Well said!!
he didn't speak against the lgbtq community, he spoke facts about trans people period!
It's just jokes, this man literally talks so much **** about every single group and everyone just accepts it and laughs. But these nutcases think that their special and get offended by EVERYTHING. Recently some 6'5 linebacker with a wig on almost attacked my wife at work because she she called him sir. He's lucky that I wasn't there.
Dave is the funniest comedian alive today. When he makes fun of my group, I think, “Hey! He’s making fun of me!” But I can’t get mad, because he’s so darned funny.
And because you have a sense of humor!
of you ever went to a rez party, the mpre ypu make fun of your host, the more they appretiate it. just saying
He is a comedian- if you don't like the jokes don't listen
Stand you're ground dave!Dave! I love and support what you said!you spoke the truth!!
Dave is the most honest voice out of all involved.
