I love your work and have watched all your vids. Those Kenwood power units were great restoration vids and they sound fantastic with whatever you have driven them with. Cheers!
Would you recommend I keep or return a CX-1 that works but arrived with damage to the front plate? Could the scratches be repaired? It was a good price and the seller has offered to fund a repair unless its too costly.
Hey Connor! 👋🏻 This is the first chance I’ve had to sit and watch this video in peace. Another top job bro. Yamaha has some really decent kit. Especially from A decade or 5 ago. I know a lot of the modern stuff still has the pure direct switch. And they carried on with the vintage look even their as1100 up to the 3000 range is built like tanks and sounds fantastic with the right components & speakers In fact if my memory serves me correctly there is A YTuber called stereo police who has the as1100 amp and he loves it. I believe he said he would take it over much more higher priced items. All I know for certain is the Japanese know A thing or two about real HIFI. Anyway hope your well? Keep up the good work. Greetings from across the pond. 🇬🇧
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! And thank you! I am well; very busy with work, so I’m only able to work on audio equipment on the weekends. I should have a new video out soon! Cheers!
so hifi connor, slap technique works wonders
Great vid man, love to see it. Looking forward for what's next in the pipeline...
Thanks dude!
I really like this preamp. It would probably work really well with the kenwood monoblocks. I'll keep an eye out for it. Nice work cleaning it all up.
Always liked that preamp and the amp that went with it. A lot of people said they sound very neutral and warm

One of the best pre amps from Yamaha. Match with the MX1
the 80s Yamaha process of soldering components on the board leave a lot to desire.
I agree, although most manufacturers suffered from the same crappy wave soldering.
Great video! Question: What does the subsonic-filter exactly do??
I am really impressed with how well you get the faceplates cleaned up - can you share some of those techniques?
Usually hot water with a mild detergent and microfiber cloth. If there are tough stains, I will use a small amount of Simichrome. Hope this helps!
How about you do a
Kenwood L-07C or L-07C II.
Would be a great Match for the L-07M Amps.
I will if and when I get the chance. Thanks!

Hi, a have same CX-1, and have problem, one canal don’t work, is that problem in volume potentiometer or something other?
Would this cx1 along with the mx1 be comparable to a as1200/2200 or 3200? Or be closer to the lower line of current yamaha amps?
do you work on cassette decks or 4 track cassette recorders?
you happen to have a yamaha c4 to work on?
Great service/refresh video, out of curiosity what do you do for a living,I'm presuming you work in an electronics field?
Thank you! I am an aircraft technician full time, and work on audio equipment on the side / as a hobby.
For a natural sound I recommend the Yamaha AX-570, no preamplifier is necessary. Power 2x100watt RMS 8ohms.I have this beauty at home.😉
That’s fantastic
Lucky You... wish I had that piece new....Yamaha...!
Thanks!
Another great repair, and cosmetic face lift.
I like all how Made in Japan
Cool thanks
I have one, this great amp
Yamaha top. 👏👏👏👏👏👍🇧🇷🇧🇷
Perfeito me de papai
Show some soldering
Je hebt er weinig aan gedaan, dus reparatie en restauratie is een beetje overdreven
Do you do work for others?
