It’s simple and complicated at the same time. In this particular dance there is a repeating sequence of 10 or 11 moves (depending on how you count them) that never varies. Once you get going you just travel with your partner and do it over and over with new neighbors. Simple! The complicated part is these are very skilled dancers who put a lot of creativity and individual expression into their moves. You don’t have to do all the complicated flourishes to be participating fully in the dance.
It is not as complicated as it looks--speaking from my own experience. It is simpler and easier to learn than square dancing. Yes I have done both square dancing and contra dancing and ballroom dancing. Now I play either piano or bass for the local contra dance society every other Friday evening.

Chilly evening warmed up in no time.

Synchopaths,
Brilliant name.
Synchopaths are the exact opposite of psychopaths.
According to a joke which one of our staff psychiatrists told me, the psychopath is the shortest and most direct route to CrazyTown.
Looks like fun - but terribly complicated...
It's not complicated!
