Totally agree with Justine about Ember having so much power in the tank that when he gets tense, excited, etc it just overboils. Regardless of the score etc it is a joy and privilege to watch Ember grow as an eventing horse. Well done Lucy, Ember and the boss.

It really is a mind game with this beautiful boy. There is no doubt about his abilities in all elements. Even though he was obviously very tense in the dressage, I thought he did better than last time out. Love watching your journey. Well done.

I think it was a great vlog, Show the good and the bad. I don't think there was bad just that you have a racehorse turned eventer. He is so fit! Not racehorse fit and tucked up but all muscle and power. I agree, he will do better with a larger jumps - he doesn't always respect the little ones. Well done - eliminated or not you guys will do incredible once everything falls into place. Great job!

Yep he’s definitely a cross country horse I totally agree there Lucy. He just needs practice and plenty patience. You rode him very well don’t knock yourself down. He’s taught you a lot since you got him tbs are very smart. The thing now is to calm him saying that he will with age he’s still very young. Great vlog.tfs🤗🏇🤗

It always looks so exhausting when you are riding in the xcountry! Emba is certainly a stunning boy and you work hard. I love that you are always positive and up beat and act as if "what will be, will be" even if maybe off camera you aren't feeling that way at the time. I am sure all your followers are keeping their fingers crossed for you. Sadly, there are those of us who aren't in the UK and so can't subscribe to H&C to watch your show.

Holy cow! Just had to pause after your show jumping round; wow, Ember is a LOT of horse! I like my jumpers to be a forward ride, but Ember is on a whole different level. 😅 Kudos to you for being brave enough to show jump a horse who looks at times like he has ZERO brakes! 😳 You definitely have him jumping better (although quite an interesting landing on all four feet after the orange oxer (“spread” I think it’s called in the UK). But you did a great job with riding such a fiery horse. I tip my hat to you!

Now you have him in such great overall condition could you give him a calm and condition type feed? Also he needs to go up a level to make him think as he finds 80 so easy, you have done a fantastic job with him and have a great advisor with Justine, much more old school ( not being rude it's a compliment), well done and kick on but not too much kicking lol 😂 p.s. absolutely love the T shirt caption 🎉 xx

Lucy you do amazing with the little red wild horse!! I agree with Justine, who is equally awesome. Ember needs bigger fences, so talented for eventing!
Are you familiar with Tristan Tucker? He does amazing things at teaches horses to control themselves, control their emotions! Just a thought if you aren't familiar.
    Super job. Keep going!!

Good or bad, you still did brilliantly. He's come soo far. The XC alone shows his progress. Honestly, it seems like the best XC horses always struggle a bit with the dressage. I think they find it a bit boring! Like getting a kid to eat their vegetables. Good for them, but not as palatable as going fast and flying over things!

Have you seen the NUPA feed calmer? Piggy March advocates for it and use to give it to Vanir Kamira, takes the edge off them but it doesn't affect their performance nor makes them dull, I've seen a huge difference in mine on it! Well done Lucy!

Oh Lawks. He was as tight as a coiled spring all the way through wasn’t he. He looked almost outside his mind in the showjumping. NOT as easy ride at all. In fact, jumping wise you almost wonder if it was all too small for him, especially the Xcountry. One question, not a criticism at all, but whilst I realise he doesn’t like his head “tied down” - why would any horse, even with his head thrown right up I couldn’t see the running martingale engaging at all where it was so long !!! Is that my eyesight? Well done though. Tough day. 👏👏

Yep been there done that - try not giving him any hard feed for at least 3 days before an event and just give him turnout and hay - lots of grassy hay ! his anxiety is going to cause an ulcer issue which could prove disastrous for you - you might be surprised at how quickly he calms down with reduced feed - possibly a bit of research into different feeds - he has so much potential and is beautiful to boot but clearly something has to change, sorry it was such a sh*tshow for you

Laragh damaged her check & suspensory ligaments jumping a hedge out hunting back in Feb. She had laser treatment & was on box rest for 8 weeks but is now having the whole summer off on field rest with Zack. Lucy doubts that she will ever jump again but we can hope. It’s on a couple of Instagram reels from 18th/19th April. That’s the most news I know!

I’ve been hugely pondering about this.
Please never be offended by my words. As we all know it is so easy speaking via a keyboard.
And know and I love all your input and correlations with other groups.
But I cannot get Ember’s canter under Charlie out of my mind. And I know you are “long in the body” in comparison. But when Charlie canters Ember his weight is behind the shoulder.
The reason you were smacked in the face was because your weight was over/in front of the shoulder.
Maybe look again at Charlie v your working footage. Ember did not throw his head with Charlie. We all can learn from that ❤️
