ACES vs KINGS vs QUEENS [Shocking End]

- Guys, it finally happened. After making fun of people on the internet for FOLDING pocket kings, I found myself in the darkest of places. That terrible place where you have to consider making the ultimate laydown. Maybe it's karma. Maybe I tempted fate. Perhaps I deserve to be punished for my hubris. OR MAYBE... sometimes you can just look Andrew Neeme in the eye and know he's got the aces.

I'm giving away 1% of my winnings on High Stakes Poker. Enter here: gleam.io/xTr16/1-of-doug-polks-action-on-high-stakes-poker-200400
Alex' Betsize is perfect because he can raise again if Jonny pushes and everyone else just called. Look at it from this perspective!
That in peruvian currency is a looooot
is it a fold because neeme is a nit?
What winnings? You fold KK preflop after putting in $4,800! lol
Can we have a video about the shape of that pinky finger? Love your videos, and your pinky's still better than Berkey's
If Andrew had just folded that would’ve disguised his hand strength very well
It would also be great for balance.
All three options were on the table for Andrew here
Sometimes when I bluff jam, my opponent snap calls. This is a huge tell, as I instantly know he's strong.
Andrew almost folded.
This reply section is gold
You can be grateful the dude raised 7Ts, otherwise it would be way harder to make the right fold in this spot
You’re welcome
@@JohnnieVibesha, well played, pun intended
@@JohnnieVibes AA v KK v T7s v QQ, your timing was impeccable. 😂
You know that your min-6bet is a huge mistake when you make the opponents fold KKs and QQs hahaha
I know this is a results oriented statement but if I didn't lose all the hands I took aces to the flop and they flopped a set on me, I'd be a much richer man 😂 I want that shit all in pre-flop so I can live with whatever results come about
yeah it's also time for a mental note that you probably want more bluffs in that situation
Flatting looks way stronger imo. The 6bet can still be AKs, but I mean like Doug said, basically can't disguise your strength when you open and it's raised raised raised back to you.
@iamamish yeah except whe there's a cold 4 bet and a cold 5 bet chances are one of those players has aces. Bluffing is lighting money on fire.
@@SSky06 flatting doesn't look as strong multiway. That might be the only possible play that doesn't telegraph that you have aces here.
Player dependent... Andrew = Fold. Airball = 300BB Jam.
Just because airball 3 bets with 83 off doesn’t mean he will 6 bet with junk.
I think it’s still a fold - not because I’d be worried about being behind Airball’s range but because the cold 5-bettor is behind. If Airball doesn’t have aces, Alex probably does as Doug touched on.
@@kingbi7984 False. That is exactly what it means.
Find us a cold 5 bet bluff from airball or even any maniac.
Even maniacs slow down once the 4 bets go in.
@@fenikstechnologies1173 Clearly, I have offended your idol. I deeply apologize and will concede that he is playing at a level that I cannot remotely comprehend.
To quote Gabe Kaplan: "Doug Polk is one of the few people on the planet that would have folded there."
Gabe is a gentleman amongst thieves!
The timing on this is just unbelievable lol
Doug I swear you breaking down these hands makes it feel like it should be easy to make these folds. You are on a different level
Most cold 4 bets are like top 4% (most agressive players are around 6%), a cold 5b, has to be top 2-3%. a cold 6..., well at that point you just crack open a beer (or in this case take a sip of whiskey) and let the kings go.
@@PhonyBolognathis wasn't a cold 5bet though, he already raised. But yes either way the ranges are insanely small
@@kursdragon buzzkillington, doesn't get jokes, he kills them.
@@PhonyBologna Oh sorry didn't realize there was a terrible joke being attempted here! My apologies
@@kursdragon Apology accepted little fella, you keep at it, one day you'll get those social skills! I believe in you!
The agonizing face at 1:17 from the QT Hellmuth hand is perfect
Correct play is to fold those aces and avoid the suck out. Great fold doug.
Very impressive fold Dougie. I guess thats why you're playing at these stakes and most of us aren't.
Tbf at low stakes people show up with J5s in this spot
It wasn't "very impressive" lol, with all that action pre AND him having kings (killing a crazy # of unpaired combos), what are his opponents supposed to have? If at least one of them fail to show up with aces, that's the livest game in the history of history & Doug would have picked up on that minor detail. You're NOT in a head-up-the-ass game of nothing but live ones? Yeah, one of them has aces & the other has aces or ace king lol. The only bigger tell would have been aces flatting pre lol, like "please come in, Doug!"
I was starting to think we weren’t getting a video today, but Doug didn’t let us down
Ok I liked and subbed after watching you for 3 years. Please keep doing videos!
When I saw the hand on live stream I knew you already decided to post a video on it.
Great fold.
That previous folding kk vid helped! And great timing.
LMFAO bruh I was watching this live yesterday, and the whole time I'm thinking... Bro Doug. You were JUST TALKING ABOUT THIS SPOT..... XD
Insane situation.
so happy that you started to upload vids again:)
This fold is less impressive than folding the bottom straight against Helmuth on 89J. A Neeme 6 bet pre-flop is always always always AA. Even Helmuth can lose his mind and ship it with two pair or a set on a 89J board.
I think Johnnie Vibes getting a little out of line with 10,7hh might have saved you a little bit here. He added one more bet to the mix that really just put Neeme's 6-bet over the top.
First time I watched Doug live and after 15 minutes this happened 😂😂
Loving the max content output.
What a weird bet by Andrew. If he jams there Doug calls it off all day. If he flats Doug jams.
He literally did the only thing that would net him no action in this spot and basically turn his hand face up.
What awful analysis
@@PandaBoy-zi2hg yeah because everybody has 6 bet bluffs in their range lol
Doug you are hilarious bro. I love your videos. Keep it up.
sick you folded right after the vid 😄 and put in the grind to produce the vid right after, much love
My initial thought is…. I really like that coat and hoodie combo you have on but it must be rare that you can find an opportunity to wear it in the desert
I think the training of the last weeks made you a lot of money in this spot. Not loosing in spots where people loose a lot is the best you can do. Keep up the great content!
That’s a really great point! Sometimes loosing the min IS the best play..
Great evaluation of the hand and and sizing. Great fold.
I just wanted to say I'm happy you're posting again. You get a lot of crap and sometimes I give it but I really enjoy your content and poker is better with you involved.
Serious question for Dougie Fresh….
I’m always on board with playing a good balanced theoretical game.
Do we think a cold 5 bet happens enough that we need to mix in non AA/KK raises/jams?
Obviously the easy answer is “we should always look for balance.”
But do we find ourselves in this narrow node of the game tree where we need to mix in an A5s to make sure we get paid?
Sure, you were able to fold KK, but does the population fold KK enough to necessitate having a bluffing range?
"You're probably wondering how I got here" lol brilliant
Great analysis.
This must be the most poetic video you have done. Never fold KK then this? OMG you are going to hell Doug.
The Production was fire. 😍😍🔥🔥🔥
I knew there were hero calls. I did not know there were hero folds.
More of these 😂 👏🏻 🔥 keep it up. Hilarious
I remember ALMOST laying them down, when the tightest player on earth woke up after barely seeing a flop the last hour. He heavily raised my already big pre-flop raise, with position. I called while of course having a feeling he had AA. The board was irrelevant for both of us, and I did donate a lot of money. But I feel I saved some chips by betting a reasonable amount each street and being called down, instead of letting him dictate the betting amount
there are some great metaphors here
The way this hand played out it is a reasonable fold
Sick fold. You did it quick too!
The fact that this hand wasn't taken to the streets is insane lol
hello, Doug
your videos are really awesome incl. your funny comments. thank you for that 🙂
Nicely done 👍
easy to fold KK when you deep af and just invested 24bb so far ❤
Wow Andrew just won the bear minimum with the ultimate cooler, 😢I guess one of the con being too tight is people can just put you on the exact hand you have and fold it correctly, Andrew if you seen this, you can use your imagine and doing with a bluff, then this video could go viral to make QQ and KKs both to fold.
Love the intro ,😆🎉
"Folding kings pre is something you shouldn't do." 😂😂
Seriously though good fold and very proud of you for being able to change your mind plus read your opponents
Doug’s content manager needed a thumbnail so he asked Doug to make a face like he was getting ready to chug some clock
Trying a 3 bet steal into everyone waking up and blasting is hilarious
I can’t believe this situation arose so soon after your video 🤣 wtf
Nice fold Douglas!
If the 10 7 suited would have just called or fold instead of 3-bet, it would be very interesting to see how this hand would have developed. The outcome would be totally different i can imagine.
Incredible deduction.
I wish my boy Neeme had Ace 5
Awesome hand, great laydown. I wonder what Andrew was thinking at the end of the hand. How did he not get paid off? Had to be just a bit bummed
That was one of your Best Videos. The beginning was very Romantic. There was a lot of Class in this Video 👌😊❤️🌎🕊
legend has it that the flop was going to be KQ2
Wow! He just did the folding Kings video!! This week!
This reminds me of the recent hand on HCL with Mariano having AA and two opponents that had KK. Both had like $250k stacks. Sitting in a raise, re-raise, re-raise, all-in position you would have to consider folding the KK. You are almost guaranteed to be up against Aces in that situation nobody is risking $250k with AK in to 2 other players that have both shown strength. You know at very best you're chopping with KK and at worst you're behind against Aces which is what happened. Then again sitting there with the second best pre-flop hand in Poker I'd have a hard time folding KK too.
Definitely very opponent dependent too. There are definitely players that will shove AK for value there, and then also players that would take that spot to bluff A5s every chance they get. Andrew is neither of those types so this one should be a fold...
@@janpiet9921 I don't think in a situation like the HCL one where it's $250k shoved after 3-4 raises that KK is a call. Nobody is going to risk $250k with AK in to 2 players. It's basically AA or KK at that point and even KK has to feel the heat. A lot of people wouldn't even do it with KK in to 2 players. Maybe someone with more money than brains like Nik Airball or Alan Keating you consider going for it with KK but aside from those very very specific situations KK isn't a good call for $250k all-in in a 5-bet pre-flop 3 way hand.
@@brandonc422 you should really watch the famous JRB hand on triton.....
Really great video. More. More.
It’s 800 blinds deep to the guy sat left
It’s the greatest fold I’ve seen for a few months
DOUG
Guys who raises 10-7 looks like David schwimmer having a bad day
Are you pumped to see Jnandez on the inly friends pod cast? I can't wait! :)
You know you've fucked up when you get dealt Aces and your opponent is able to fold Kings to you pre. There was really no excuse not to jam there.
He got KK and QQ to fold, so much value lost due to playing so face up
Life imitating art lol. I also folded KK in a nearly identical spot in a tournament. When ranges are that tight its hard for nobody to have the AA.
I had a situation in a tourney where I was able to fold KK without investing any money pre. A nitty player makes a giant open UTG and the most passive player at the table sitting next to him 3-bets him. I came to conclusion his range was limited to KK+. Surprise, surprise when the hands eventually got turned over it was QQ vs AA.
Guys folding KK, this is the stream I want to watch!
😂 what is this look you have going on with the jacket over the hoody 😂😂
I just saw a video about folding kings preflop. I should have saved it. Maybe it's in my library. You all should watch it.
Easy fold vs Neeme the nit
Alex's raise to 11k with QQ lets him open the action again if Johnny shoves, much bigger of a bet does not do that.
All of his opponents will know it so it can let him make better decisions based on that knowledge at a cheaper price (saves 3k)
If UTG folds and Johnny shoves then Doug will know that the other guy at the table 800bb deep still can reopen the action
Unless I'm dumb, Alex can raise up to 18k and a johnny shove opens the action.
@Lazarus Not dumb, but an 18k raise would be 13,200 more than Doug's raise. Johnny would have to raise it at least 13,200 more than Alex's raise for action to be open. Johnny only had 18k in his stack so it would be 4,800 more than 13,200 which isn't enough to open the action.
2:38. pause. allow Brad to stare into your soul
The kk fold, impressive af
Hey, Doug. Did you solve this using a preflop solver? I want to know what our overlord computer has to say about it.
"there's no way he can make himself look weak" ... video cuts to Brad 🤣🤣🤣
What. A. Setup.
I'd put money on KK being effectively a pure fold in your shoes. Solver approved.
Hilarious, smart and educational all at the same time. Funny how the cards fall.
Was sure you were setting up to say you jammed. Way to keep your range of expectations wide lol
Even with the Ace blocker, can you bluff at all with the low suited Aces? I wonder if playing your Aces face up, and not bluffing, is higher EV than having any bluffs. How often do both the cold 4 better and cold 5 better not have Aces (I know they don't here, but how likely really is that?).
The deck is the king of irony.
If that was Brad in Andrews seat Doug calls for sure lol
No disrespect but I thought Johnny was Ross from friends!! My bad good vid
Can you add the link to the stream in the video description?
One of my favorite lucky wins was AK against AA and KK, making the straight on the river.
I like the idea of jamming versus reraising small here with the aces like you said… just looks too too strong to min raise 6-bet, plus what happens if you get three callers then in that spot when you have aces?!
Not good.
[Shocking End] at the end of your title... Stop with the clickbait guys. JESUS.
You make good content, we like your content, your channel is hitting the algorithms. Really annoying that both you and the Lodge channel are doing this so much.
Question Doug, why would you make it 13k in Alex's shoes? If Johnny goes all in then Alex can only call at that size and doesn't have the option to raise. I understand that going lower incentives you to call more but should we not value having the option to reraise?
The poker gods wanted to see what you would really do
A5s is a good bluffing candidate because it blocks AA and has decent equity against a range of KK+. There are spots where it is good to jam AA and A5s, but fold KK and AKs.
Let's be honest, when a super nit 6 bets pre, KK is an easy fold.
Glad you said that….. jam the aces pre flop in that situation no question
Your analysis of the 5bet size ignored the fact that if he went bigger and got shoved on by the short stack, he wouldn’t be able to raise if you flatted the shove in between. Taking away that option is a big deal.
Doug would you have called in Andrew shoved all in instead of making it to 23k?
Make a video about not folding kings and then immediately fold kings correctly like a boss. Well played.
Great hand!
THIS JUST IN BREAKING NEWS
I didn't think you could ever fold pocket kings before this video and the other one where Doug talked about spots where it can be folded
The stacks being so super deep is a requirement for this being correct. If you never play this deep, never fold kings.
Shoulda asked the dealer to show what the board woulda been
So in 1-3 $400 buy in if you are going to call $125 may as well go all in?
In that old clip... What is Johnny looking at after folding Kings? His phone??
I’m worried about you. Maybe we should call in the ask for why team to help you with your punting. You’re supposed to go broke there!! How dare you deny Andrew what he deserves!! 🤣😂💸💸
