step 2 add ugly kick so that everybody notices its hardstyke because basically thats the only thing special about it. that it sounds gross. kinda funny

😂😂 I don't make my own ones from 0, at least I didn't in my past hardstyle tracks (I just have 2). I just layer some different kicks to create a new one.
@@wildcrowmusic Ahh, it's okay. At least some people, including me, haven't started creating hardstyle tracks with some ready made kicks downloaded from the internet (I admit I did). But now, I challenge myself to create my own kicks for good, and I am so happy I got several kicks as stocks. It's because I am afraid to be said by others that I don't make my own kicks or I just copied other kick. So I understand, heheh

Also, to help, to those who can thanks to their DAW, just look for options that allow your DAW to change the highlighted or shown keys to the key you want to use.
Like in FL Studio, piano roll, options (first arrow to the upper left), view, scale highlighting and it'll show you the root note you can pick and the scale.
It's super easy in Cakewalk (RIP)
This video is in the format of those kinda reductionist and meme-y "EDM Genre in 3 minutes" type videos but you have a lot of actually cool and interesting techniques here like bussing the reverb and cleaning it with all those effects! Cool stuff!

In my opinion, the drop lead needs way more reverb. Hardstyle is VERY reverb heavy and "atmospheric"!
Not really needed, it depends on the vibe you want to create. But remember that this is just a tutorial and not a final version of a song 😊

This became an absolutely superb song. Good job and great fun to follow the process.
Tip: layer the drop kick in the build with a different kick and add a lowpass on the drop kick in the build.
Tip 2: in the breakdown, add kicks layered with the claps to add lowend.
Tip 3: if you use Serum, you can sidechain the reverb on the leads using an lfo on the mix knob.
Hope this was useful, also, the video was very helpful even the background track kills my ears as it is panned to my right headphone damnit

The slightly less older sound is also fine honestly it's just that the new stuff lacks the entire "classic" hardstyle feeling, probably because the new kicks and synths sound way different from the old tracks and that most newer tracks don't use the "proper" hardstyle buildup since it often disattracted people from the music.
