  • Larry Charleston IV, MD, MSc, FAHS, from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Grand Rapids, MI outlines the requirement for research into how factors such as race and socioeconomic status influence outcomes in headache disorders. Emerging evidence indicates that variables such as race and insurance status may influence return visits to neurology clinics, but further studies are necessary as the concept of intersectionality is relatively new to headache medicine. Dr Charleston IV highlights the lack of evidence in underserved populations and calls for further investigation to advance health equity in the field. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting 2024 in Denver, CO.
