I understand there is a fraction of Latter-Day Saints who believe any rumor or myth that is out there, which is too bad , but the vast majority of us can discern between truth and error. I think we can go from one extreme to another. It's like reading the Apocrypha and discerning by the spirit what is of worth and what isn't. I have heard one BYU scholars' commentary on a gospel principle or scripture differ from another BYU scholars. I have learn to not take everyone's opinion or commentary at face value but use it as food for thought. The best way is for us as individuals to go to the Lord directly for understanding.
