I'm jealous too Pete. As a UK resident I beat you somewhat to a first drag race if this was your first one. I was fortunate enough to see, and be involved in, the 1964 Drag Fest held at Woodvale aerodrome. This was the start of promoting drag racing in the UK with many of the top US racers coming over in the following years. I was at the Pod to witness the first ever 6 second run in Stormbringer with Pete Crane
@@flyhalf2 5.97 yes a scorching hot day, the previous year there was snow about! Stormbringer was a very modern machine for the day, wonder where it is.
Watched the entire race, you guys had the car to beat! Jim O, Jesse and Nicky had that car running consistently and fast. Ashley in the final with his ridiculous reaction times was a tuff loss but you guys are peaking at the right time! Let’s goooo!,,,,,,
Hey Clay, I can totally relate to you, always smiling and never a bad or discouraging word towards anyone. Wish you could’ve won but nevertheless a worthy finish. All the best from Canada. Also, your new UK friend is a very lucky fellow to be able to hangout with you and your team.
Well done Clay Your pit crew are amazing. Working in sweltering heat and smashing out a fantastic race car every round. Good luck for the rest of the season Keep stomping on that loud pedal m8
Clay congrats to you and your team on an outstanding weekend off racing. I really enjoyed watching the guys rebuild the car after the rounds. The efficiency with which they work is impressive. Next year I'll bring back that dollar I took off of ya in music trivia and give you a chance to win it back. 😃😃😃 Now go stomp on that loud pedal and chase that championship!!!
*We very Proud of you Clay an Team.* You got the Talent, Heart and Team. But sometimes it just ain't enough. Keep *STOMPINA THAT LOUD PEDDLE* and collectin those Win Lights 🏁🇺🇸 We've got your back...
Hey Pete ! Welcome to the world of top fuel!!! Clay and team, that was an absolute spectacle of team work, skill, and execution! I am always intrigued by the tuning and adjustments that go into a changing environment! Great work!
Clay, RWR, and crew, y'all rock! Congrats on the weekend and the points. Pete looks like you had a great experience with all the Clay stuff on. Go out there and Stomp on that loud pedal, Clay next week is yours. Peace ❤
Thank you RWR for supporting this great drag racing team. That's a painful loss measured in thousands of a second Clay. Not red lighting on a hole shot is like winning the lottery. This drag racing event had me on the edge of my seat the whole race. Top notch camera work throughout the whole race. Unbelievable how the team is able to build another engine between rounds.
Clay, like I told you in the Pits Never Count Clay Out of the Hunt! Great Job my Man!! You and RWR Racing Team Absolutely Rock The NHRA World!!!!!! If that was my last Drag Race to attend then I certainly can't complain about ANYTHING!!! YOU, RWR and Your Amazing Team Absolutely Rock!!!
Clay and the entire team are in a league of their own,and it stood out especially when they changed the head gaskets just in time. You can got close to winning but Justin is a god of starting. Pete obviously is chuffed to bits about the way you got the passes to get close to you and the team.he will treasure the memories of your time and team.. as a fellow British fan thanks for sharing your videos.. you are a gem. 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸
Great video !!! Your team did very , very well. So nice to see that English fellow really enjoying his experience, which I am sure he will be talking about for a while. As for Justin Ashley , what can I say ???? Many thanks Clay , and keep doing what you are doing.
Shout-out to Jim O for Absolutely Nailing the Car to the Track!!! That's why they call it Drag Racing!!! You and the Team were Absolutely Spot On!! Consistent to the very end!!!!! Jim O you Made My Day Week Year And My Life Complete with Your Consistent Knowledge of Drag Racing!!!! Thanks Again!!!
Back in the day, I got the chance to take my children to Baytown when they did trick or treat in the pits. My children were invited by Shelley Anderson to see the inside of her trailer. Your team reminds me so much of times like that.!! Keep it up!!!
Clay we spent the entire weekend at the motor Plex watching you and your team work so hard for the win. We want to say thank you from the bottom of our heart for making this weekend special. And thank you to Jesse for taking the time to give my son a signed piston from Clay. And we also got to meet some RUclips stars that we have been watching for nine years Flying Sparks garage and they were just as wonderful in person as they are on their channel. We appreciate you from the Skelton family.
Car is Right, Crew is Sharp and You are Ready and Prepared, Sounds like a Championship Run to Me. We started the year diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and began following you during the 3 day Chemo treatments that were every other week, for months and my Surgery was Successful and now 100 % Cancer Free. So If I can beat Pancreatic Cancer you can take this to the Championship
What a great weekend Clay. Congratulations to you and your team for a fantastic showdown. You didn't lose, they just got lucky 😅. Sorry I didn't get to the pits to see you and the team. My 70 year old body was feeling every second of it. Spent half the time under the bleachers. Did you mention it was 🥵🔥. Had a blast watching and rooting for you!!!!! Congratulations 🎉.
I reckon that guy form Blighty says it all for us as well. Watching all this is so brilliant. Exciting as well as very professional. I was trying to quantify a similar level of consistant expertise and I am reminded of my 1st job after school. It was a trainee shooting instructor with Holland and Holland (H&H). I was witnessing the masters of their craft hand filing the open sights on all H&H rifles. in the workshop by the shooting ranges.Well Those two spoke for the whole company. Springfield Tennessee here pulling for you. I’m wondering if Justin isn’t employing some type of AI in his visor to read the tree 🤔😅. I sure miss the lounge sessions with Jimo and yourself; I could care less about the technical stuff, I just loved to hear y’all talk. Stomp on that loud pedal and let’s go 👍👍
Your .059 was really good but a .029 not human awesome clay, j boys and jimbo those j boys can do a head gasket change in 14 minutes is amazing I'm a big fan of you but a bigger fan of your crew the j boys they are badass love to have a T-shirt of the crew THE J BOYS 💪💪💪💪💪💪
NHRA have rules against letting off buttons vs loud pedal. Can you mat it and let go of the button. Have we ever talked about why Top Fuel is Loud Pedals. Guessing it’s a rule or is it faster? .059 is amazing!!! How does JA get to a .026? And motorcycles are in the .020s
Is Justin calculating the tree super human like or is he guessing? Shallow staging? Deep staging? Creeping? Something in tune up? Ramp on throttle pedal? Different throttle cable materials? Clutch wizardly things? Very interesting and fascinating. Either way your bada$$,and Stomp on that loud Pedal
Justin Ashley is from another planet. Some place where time is irrelevant. How do you beat a guy that constantly cuts .020 lights. Great job Clay that 059 would have beat every car there but one.
No way Ashley is that fast and consistent on rt they have worked something out. Some sort of at full throttle delay until light goes on IMO Nobody is even close!
Ballast? Clay got DQ'D last year for something like that...Ballast in the nose that slides in a tube at the launch to help reaction times. Hmmm, hope NHRA is on it and being fair.
From watching the broadcast and now this video, it appeared the wing was "deflecting" on the drivers left hand side downwards. Like it was twisting heavily on one side
lol .026 in Top Fuel is ridiculous. 😆 I feel like either he's got some trick up his sleeve, or he's the quickest leaver in the history of the sport... 🤔
Sometime in the off season, after you win the Championship, you're gonna have to do a seminar on water grains etc relative to the motor tune up and all. I am sure you have done that already but I hate to say it, not being a nitro mechanic myself, I kinda forget the importance of it. I know that my old 2009 F-150 doesn't really seem to care too much about it. The zero turn however does seem to run a wee bit off on certain days, could that be water grain issues? lol...
“Water grains” used as an atmospheric pressure indicator (pressure altitude) is all affected by temperature, altitude, and weather in general. This all affects running compression. The tune up also affects running compression. That is where the rubber meets the road. Being able to replicate the desired running compression on any given track and condition.
DEAR CLAY MILLICAN , YOU MUST WIN TODAY!!! THE FORCE( JOHN FORCE AND FAMILY) IS NOT WITH YOU TODAY!!! THAT SHOULD DO WELL FOR YOU TODAY! signed A SATURDAY Q, AND A SUNDAY WINNER.... P.S . GO STOMP ON THAT LOUD PEDAL!

Driver/team preference...

Water drains? What is that? and how does compression affect it.
Is there a cheaper version of those engines that allows you to work on off the tree strategies?
close your air gape a little it will react quicker if its possible on your clutch set up
What are water drains and how does the time on them work.
