Thank you for your recomendations. I was in Japan ths summer and I use your videos to buy games. I will be at Essen Spiel an I'll try to say hi at you both. I love your videos and the way you talk about games.
I have the Japanese version of Ito and love it - everyone I've played it with can't wait to play it again! It's awesome that it's now going to be more readily available, but I do miss the weirdness of the artwork in the original version.
Oh! You're in luck as this version will (I believe) come with the both the small deck with funky art and the new poker sized cards with the new sleek art! Best of both!
@@EmmaNovaheim Update! There won't be a small deck of cards in the box BUT there will be new number cards with updated artwork AND the topic sheet has now been replaced with a deck of cards. Still worth stopping by the booth and checking out the newest version and seeing what they've done. ALSO! While you're there, be sure to check out Vegetable Stock as it's a fantastic little card game.
LOL. Thanks! I was torn this year going back and forth between live stream and recorded. I think we'll be doing more live streams once we get a proper camera.
I really like Luz! It made my Top 100 games from Japan list. Though... to be honest, I like Xylotar more, which I understand is completely biased for me to say. Getting players to hold their hand a certain way so everyone else can read is a bit exhausting. Xylotar has all the cards on the table which feels more relaxed and refreshing. At this point, I'd rather play other trick taking games than Luz - such as Prey, Xylotar, Park Life, Lone Wolves, Hamlen Cave, Rebel Princess Deluxe Edition, Trick of the Rails.
@@CardboardEast Thanks for the reply! I hope you have a great Spiel. I wish I'd butted in and said hello at Gen Con but you were always working hard. I'll say hi next year!
Hello Jay, I am a new subscriber :) I will be going to Essen Spiel for the first time this year, and since Asian boardgames are not easy to find in my country (Italy), could you help me decide what Asian boardgame publishers I should visit at the fair? What are the most important publishers, in your opinion? Thanks!
Great question. I will be filming my Spiel series next weekend where I’ll go through Hall by Hall. I usually think of publishers by country, so here are a few publishers: Korea Board Games Mandoo Games Arclight Saashi & Saashi itten Oink Taiwan Board Game Design Origame BGN but smaller publishers do have gems as well, such as some of the games in this list, like Pluto Games & Magic Number Eleven. Thanks for subscribing!
Honestly. All of the games on here that can play at 2 players, I would recommend. Most of the time I play games, I'm playing against my wife. Magic Number Eleven is strictly 2-player and I'm addicted to it. I do plan to do a Top 10 2-player game list later this year, so be on the look out for that!
@@blakwngbrd I loved the 90s release & fell in love with the FFG version. In fact, I even won a tournament in Taiwan and for the briefest of moments, I was the best Netrunner player in the country.
Love the enthusiasm! Definitely added a few more games to my already extensive list!
Thanks! Good hunting out there. Don’t miss my Spiel videos launching all next week!
Thanks for the overview, I am looking forward to Spiel! Although my trip just takes 2 hours by train
I will try to step by your booth, if I don't forget it in the rush of games 😅
Lucky you! Thanks for watching!
Great and can't wait for the other lists!
Thanks! We'll be recording them shortly!
thank you for the video! I add prey to my most anticipated games. Take a look to Sunrise Sunset, a game by a Japanese author in hall 3.
Sunrise Sunset? Thanks for the heads up!! Oh! I’ll be publishing Spiel videos every day this week. Don’t miss them!

i'm personally really looking forward to Sweet Lands! I don't believe they'll be at Essen though. Great list :D
If you’re looking forward to Sweet Lands, you’ll love my next video 😉
@@CardboardEast omg can't wait
Prey is the BEST 🎉 🃏 🏆 …and I’m not biased at all 😏
Everyone needs to go buy Lone Wolves! It's so good!!!
Sooooooo good!!
hope to see you around
I'll mostly be at Booth 2D620 😉
As an original watcher of the Essen preview livestreams, these are easier to digest but I do miss “off the cuff” Jay a little bit :)

Fun video, Jay! Any thoughts on Luz? It's supposed to be available at Essen but I haven't heard much about it except for who the designer is.

Will you be doing a video on Magic Eleven? I wanted to see videos on this game but nothing has come out to show how it actually works.
Filming it this weekend!

What's the number one card game that's ahead of Glory to Rome?
Android Netrunner (around cycle 3-4) is the number one card game of all time. Absolutely BRILLIANT!
I was also wondering this!
@@blakwngbrd I loved the 90s release & fell in love with the FFG version. In fact, I even won a tournament in Taiwan and for the briefest of moments, I was the best Netrunner player in the country.
Hi,
Do you know if Korea Boardgames will be selling Splendor Pokemon at Spiel?
They will not. BUT you should be able to find it on the BGG marketplace where BGG users sell games to each other.
sorry I didn't get it... are these game in any particular order? 😋
LOL
Lol, how is Essen a "tiny town" with over a half million inhabitants...
Hahahaha. I meant “tiny” in jest only, but after living in a city with 7 million of people, 600k feels small.
guess how many halves are there in the game? hahaha 2.
LOL. Fair enough! 😭🤦
