Although I do know that the otherwise orthodox Amish/Mennonites will justify using motorized machinery if it is for work. It doesn't look like everyone using the motorized machines are "Amish" though.
When you do most of your work with horses it makes sense. Occasionally you want to make the heavy lifting easy on them. That doesn't mean put them in the barn and forget about them. they still need to be used every day and kept in shape. Those horses are penny's on the dollar compared to tractors.
I do it for the actual heck of it. Its a blast. I'm have zero religious affiliation w/ the practice. Also note, many of those machines are also not motorized, they're turning the wheel rotation energy into rotation of the hay rake wheels etc. by a gear system.
