In November I went to what was called a Backyard Bash (this was actually in a hotel function room) with Austin, Tim, Adam and three of their friends. It was very different than a concert, there with only about 40 people in the room. I got to meet Amberly and was standing next to her when Austin sang this. The intense look of love that he gave her was amazing!
There are quite enough little weirdnesses to tell us this is a dream, even before we see Austin waking up. Those lilies?? Please! They don't grow wild on forest floors in Tennessee, and they don't conveniently detach themselves when you pull them.. But this is a smart director, so we are meant to think "What? That isn't right." What's that business with the second glass? And Amberly l(ive or dream version) has never lived in a cabin inn the woods . If you have a look at recent concert footage, you'll see that this is a popular part of the set list, with the audience taught parts so they can join in the chorus. So come to the show prepared to sing! Whenever she can, Amberly stands side stage and Austin sings this direct to her. (Warning: cuteness overload: on one occasion Austin was so overcome with emotion that he went into the wings, kissed her, then went back and carried on). I like the fact that we see the band on stage as well as adrift in the woods - it tells us that even though dreaming, Austin is still a musician and a songwriter and is writing the song as he dreams of this perfect love. I hope you're going at one of the VIP levels, so you have a chance to say hello to the guys in person. I know they will be pleased to see you.

I think we have the same interpretation…it’s mostly a dream, but the dream is intertwined with reality in the concert footage, which might also be part of the dream. But you don’t know it’s a dream until the end. Then everything makes sense…like the strange way the lilies are spaced apart and just sticking out of the ground, and there’s a front porch that happens to have an empty vase with water in it, or there just happen to be two filled glasses on the table.

Yes, Stargazer Lilies are Amberly's favorite flower. At the concert I went to in February we got to sing a long with them on the chorus of this song. They split the audience into three groups. Part sang with Chance, part with Rib and the last group sang with Austin. It was a really fun experience to be able to sing such a beautiful song with them. I always truly enjoy watching your reaction and analysis of their songs.

Thanks for the discussion on the head voice vs. chest voice vs. falsetto. It actually helped clear up a few things for me on that subject. I always thought that females didn't really have a true falsetto, even though I've been a singer (untrained) and classically trained musician (piano, guitar, brass instruments) my whole life. Put it this way, I know a lot about the Circle of Fifths and other aspects of music theory, but I don't know all of the nuances with the human voice. There's always been an element of ambiguity for me with that particular subject. I always thought when Austin was belting like that, he was still using his chest voice because of the clarity that he can get up there. But your discussion makes so much more sense, and I liked how you described that the head/chest voices can incorporate different percentages of each. I don't know if any of that made sense, but point is, thanks for the discussion. Very interesting. I always learn something from your reactions. PS: I'm glad you get to see them. I hope that you will recap the show for us!
Did you see the original comment that Jen was replying to? It was really insulting, saying that she didn't know anything at all about men's voices. She was a lot more polite than I could be in those circumstances!
the premise of the song may be a dream but the love between Austin and Amberly is very real and absolutely lovely to see. He did tiktoks with her while he was coming up with the chorus for the song and she'd sit at the piano with him tears streaming down her face.. was so touching to see a young couple so in love.
My dear lady Jen, that was a wonder analysis and reaction. I honestly you would cry. Expressions of love like this and Sheeran's "Perfect" do it for me, too. My fiancée and I saw them live about six months ago. I am STILL wrapping my head around the that fact. Also expect about 7-10 days recovery from the bass notes through the sound system.

I'd love to see them here live but there's only standing room available on their gig next to my place. I'm literally unable to stand for longer than 10 to 15 minutes, so participating is out of the question.

Loved you analysis, especially the little tingly feelings. Remantic, isn't it? I do so remember those days of infatuation.(Sigh!) It's my favorite range for Austin's voice. How nice it must be to have someone write a song for you. Amberly is a lucky lady. The next one is "MR". I knew it would be.
Lovely as always. And the harmonies are replicating the plucking rather than strumming of a guitar chord. Austin probably initially composed it with guitar and the others liked it too much to not try and keep the delicate plucked effect. It's similar to how my Dad plays the tribute he wrote for my Grandpa.

Isn’t this special? As you said, it’s a love song, and that’s not a new concept. This song, however, is a beautiful approach. It has a southern gospel feel at times, singing hallelujah. The harmonies. That percussion. I absolutely love this song. Great job explaining chest/head/falsetto and mixing. I’m sure that because there are different ways to say the same thing, it can lead to confusion. Asking questions is always helpful! If I had to guess (and I don't, but what the heck), I'd say this a possibility that this is a love lost, a lady he loved who passed away far too soon. The bedsheet or linen covering her face like a shroud, the look on Austin's face the last time we see him looking at her on the porch...there are overtones of a bittersweet memory/dream, maybe--and I stress MAYBE. I'm hoping it doesn't go that way, but life doesn't always go as planned or as hoped for...
This could also wind up being the ultimate feel good trilogy, with Austin and everyone else reuniting with their loved ones after being on the road. That would be a lovely way to wrap this up...

Don't watch her videos then. She even tells everyone in the beginning of every video that she'll be pausing a lot. That is what reactions are......plus, if they try to watch straight through there is a much higher chance of not even being able to post the video due to copyright issues.

I keep hoping people might understand that the song is beautiful and just listen to it one time through to get the whole benefit before they start and stopping all over the place! Sorry, no proposal. I hope people can just leave them alone after this and stop telling them how to run their personal lives. I know it's meant for the best but it must be very difficult for a couple who are happy as they are..

Lovely as always. And the harmonies are replicating the plucking rather than strumming of a guitar chord. Austin probably initially composed it with guitar and the others liked it too much to not try and keep the delicate plucked effect. It's similar to how my Dad plays the tribute he wrote for my Grandpa.
I wonder if that clearing is just outside the forest where she disappeared at the end of the last video. And those lilies seem to just lead him straight to her door. Hmm...
Isn’t this special? As you said, it’s a love song, and that’s not a new concept. This song, however, is a beautiful approach. It has a southern gospel feel at times, singing hallelujah. The harmonies. That percussion. I absolutely love this song.
Great job explaining chest/head/falsetto and mixing. I’m sure that because there are different ways to say the same thing, it can lead to confusion. Asking questions is always helpful! If anyone has any doubts, I’m pretty confident Jennifer knows what she’s talking about. 😁

If I had to guess (and I don't, but what the heck), I'd say this a possibility that this is a love lost, a lady he loved who passed away far too soon. The bedsheet or linen covering her face like a shroud, the look on Austin's face the last time we see him looking at her on the porch...there are overtones of a bittersweet memory/dream, maybe--and I stress MAYBE. I'm hoping it doesn't go that way, but life doesn't always go as planned or as hoped for...
This could also wind up being the ultimate feel good trilogy, with Austin and everyone else reuniting with their loved ones after being on the road. That would be a lovely way to wrap this up...

Wow ! You are NOT teaching a lyric alliteration and massive, frequent stop and pop the comments ..... REACT in depth AFTER the song ! With all respect - too much.
For the love of, stop pausing! You are ruining a beautiful song! Can't you listen all the way through once, and then break it down! Whatever you do don't react to How Great Thou Art by Home Free! It's a beautiful hymn to God and you'll absolutely ruin it with all your pausing!
Don't watch her videos then. She even tells everyone in the beginning of every video that she'll be pausing a lot. That is what reactions are......plus, if they try to watch straight through there is a much higher chance of not even being able to post the video due to copyright issues.
Do you not realize that the pausing and teaching is the whole point? Hint: Reaction and ANALYSIS. If that not is not clear enough for you, in the intro you are told that is what to expect and that if that's not your thing, click off the video. Did you skip that part, have trouble understanding it, or did you just feel the need to be obtuse? If you read the comments, you will find no one else is having any difficulty with this.

Jennifer, since How Great Thou Art is in my top 5 favorite hymns of all time, I hope you do react to it. But since I have watched it dozens of times and can do so anytime I want to, I certainly hope you will pause to help me understand what the guys are doing to make it so beautiful. ☺❤
There is another reason, she has to pause a lot since Homefree has tightened up their copyright policy and after a certain number of infractions they ( RUclips) can pull the channel.

@tosweet68 there are a very select group of reactors that do it properly! I keep hoping people might understand that the song is beautiful and just listen to it one time through to get the whole benefit before they start and stopping all over the place! Most reactors on RUclips don't have a clue how to react properly and I usually leave, but I hadn't heard the song and I was hoping she'd be different on this song, nope!
