Hopped into one today and this updated Santa Fe is in an upper league compared with the 2018 model. Packed with technology and features for a price that under cuts the competition for thousands less. Hyundai has become a formidable and highly competent player in several automotive segments. It's garnering awards and accolades in reliability, warranty and customer satisfaction. Worth considering before spending thousands more in a under-speced/over-priced German or Japanese luxury crossover.
Neat first drive review! After conducting an in-depth review of both the 2018 and 2019 Santa Fe back to back, it has become apparent that Hyundai has made drastic improvements to their best-selling and first ever SUV in America. Keep up the great work!
i love all the videos you made on santafe..planning to get my hands on this beauty before mid 2019.i guess,it will best mid size suv as well as a family friendly mpv for asian market too.
I ended up ordering the Highlander variant of this car with Burgundy interior. I was contemplating between this, Tiguan, Kluger, CX9, X3 and Sorento. The overall package, quality, economy and service costs does make Santa Fe a better package.
@@robbycastillo7862 You'll love it. The drive quality is superb. Make sure you also try the Power mode and feel the torque from 3rd gear onwards (if you have a diesel version as mine)
Hi, this message is for the founder of CarAdvice. I found your channel very useful and up to the standard and there is nothing wrong with the channel or it's content, but addition of few things makes it even more interesting for the viewers. First of, any car that is going to be reviewed should have the base and top of the range models, this way the viewers could physically see the difference in base and top models. Just recently I saw the review of Mazda CX-9 2019 model which featured the top of range (AZAMI LE) model and I was more interested to see the base model Sport, and none of your videos shows the base model Sport even the older models, and I had to see the base model by visiting the Mazda dealer. Second thing, when the video starts, you have a person's name and it's position in you channel but not the location where it was shot and also sometimes you guys play very nice music in the background, so the source of that music or it's artist should me mentioned in the description below, this way the artist gets recognized for it's music and could move to higher platform, should he/she wants to achieve bigger audience. I hope these points would be taken into consideration by the founder and in the future videos I am hoping to see 2 cars of same model i.e (base & top of the range) for review. Many thanks and thumbs up for the good works.
YanzoDaDon it puts the main headlights at about the same height as a sedan's so it’s not as intrusive to the oncoming cars specially one with conventional ride height where the usual ‘suv’ lights is about your eye level
YanzoDaDon I think the car looks great. I even like the front lights setup. I don’t like the low mounted rear indicator lights, though. Hyundai, Kia, Audi, Land Rover, Infiniti EX, Honda Pilot, porsche macan, etc puts lights low in the rear bumper area and I never really liked that. Cadillac Escalade, Ford escape, etc also puts their front indicators at the low bumper level which I also dislike. There’s talk of “N” performance models for the G70, Santa Fe, Tucson, and Stinger (Kia GTS model). The auto industry experts already wax poetic about the stock Stinger and G70. Imagine how great the “N” models will be. Can’t wait... 🤙
A bit confusing. Please clarify. In US, all new Santa Fe for 2019 will have 2 options. A regular Santa Fe which is actually the replacement for the last year's Santa Fe Sport in US market, 2 row seats with an optional 3rd row in the Diesel version. As for the last year's 3 row Santa Fe, the all new replacement would be called Santa Fe XL. So... What there in Australia? Which version is Australia getting? Only the smaller one with optional 3rd Row or will it get the bigger XL also??
CarAdvice.com don't you guys think this Santa Fe which is actually equivalent of last year's Santa Fe Sport (US model) is a bit too small for a 3rd Row??
Hyundai AU is definitely confusing us Americans by having a Highlander trim. Not an issue in the land of the Kluger, obviously, but I had to rewind to make sure I understood.
Sick of the BS marketing always showing the top spec version. A proper review would have top spec and the most popular versions side by side. This criticism is squarely aimed at the manufacturer(s). I know you can only review what the manufacturer makes available.
Bob Nason no match. That Outback really is in a league of its own only accompanied (to some extent) by the like of VW Golf Alltrack and Audi A4 offroader
Did anyone else notice the spag/spitting in most of the film while he was driving due to the sunlight through the window etc....... very off putting. Always well presented but that just put me right off watching it.
Entertainment therapy, I apologize for making you feel like you needed to reply to me when the nice guys at CarAdvice already did. I wasn’t being smug- I honestly thought the reviewer was mentioning the wrong vehicle because it does happen, maybe the guys at Car Advice don’t make that kind of mistake, but other car reviewers have made that mistake by mentioning the name of another car in the middle of the review.
Guys im not telling that the mazda is better, im not a fan of a mazda. Im just telling that the looks of the dash board looks similarly designed to a mazda cx5.
True, at the average consumer level Mazda was first to stick an 'ipad' on the dash - others are now doing the same. I think Mazda in turn took that style from Mercedes, not sure. Hyundai's infotainment is much better for actual functionality though imo
Missed a few points. What"s the rush ? Why Why Why Why do the Koreans limit the towball download to 150kg. Sheer stupidity. I love it but wont buy because of this.
Ashton Kee Hyundai copied but MAZDA isn't free from plagiarism too. That ugly center console display bulge trend started due to BENZ( I hate it). I think Hyundai even buys that from Continental, a German Company. The speedometer is from a joint venture between Continental and Hyundai Mobis. If you do not believe me, watch video on BENZ C class. Moreover, as an Asian, all Asian manufactures are not free from plagiarism.
bjh As far as the Centre console is concerned I do not know who copied who. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right. But I do remember seeing this console on a Mazda 3 first. For me, planting a center console there is more of a concept of where to place the items on the dashboard whereas the design and look of the aircond vents, knobs, flow of the dashboard and placement of other buttons and switches can all be vastly different by design and yet Hyundai’s designers were just plain lazy and conveniently copied Mazda on this.
Ashton Kee I think they copied more Germans. Mazda, in my opinion, borrows a lot from French and German domestic cars. Hyundai/ Kia have been hiring Audi and Benz designers for uears now. Even their chief engineer is a German, Albert Biermann. I know you live in N America, so you do not get to see Peugeot, Citroen, and even Opel(Vauxhall). But you will see what I mean. Asians need to step up in the design department.
Dude, most manufacturers borrow design elements off each other otherwise prices would be too high. A lot of parts from different badges get made in the same factories. It's like when you go to the supermarket to buy milk, flour, sugar etc. There may be a few specialist brands (that cost twice as much), but most are made from the same factory... it's all about the dollars $$
Rebekah R Both Mazda and Hyundai use Continental parts. So, the design cannot be that different. But I just hate modern center console designs from Germany. Tesla is better.
I think Huyndai did a great job it’s a very good looking SUV.
This car was in Ant-Man and the Wasp. And it looks amazing.
Yeah I just seen it earlier in Ant man movie.
I think it was the kona, not Santa Fe. They have the same design
May I know what was the color of the car they used in the movie?
It’s not in ant man it is the Tucson that’s in ant man
@@tomrobson8970 nope it was the Santa Fe in antman and the wasp, check it out
What a great reviewer.. Clear concise information about all I need to know when considering a purchase.. Thank you, good sir..

how's the fuel consumption like?
Did not show display and 3rd row
Good presenter. Though the camerawork needs to be better. A LOT better.
What's wrong with the camerawork?
Couldn't agree more with you Minh. I came to see the car, not just to stare at presenters face.

I ordered too with a burgundy interior. I'm waiting on the delivery. Just wondering how is the burgundy interior look?
@@robbycastillo7862 It is dark burgundy and can look like beige for some. But it is very unique. I did see one in the showroom to get an idea.
Thanks! hard to find one in the showroom and no internet images other than Sante Fe booklet. We cant wait to get it.

I have a 2013 Acura MDX, is this vehicle about the same size?
I still love my sorento
Do you know if the 2019 model version has the captain chair seating option?
Not in Australia we tend to go for 5 or 7 seats in SUV's
Hi caradvice, would have loved to have seen the third row room in the video?
Would have liked to see the 3rd row spoken about a little more. How much room compared to the CX9 or Kluger with adults or children sitting there?
I don't understand why the headlights and rear indicators are so low, the way modern drivers tail-gate, they will not see the indicators coming on.
Always delivering great reviews!
Thanks!
Does it have active cruise and lane keeping like Subaru?
Has lane keeping, yes
Was eagerly waiting for your video

Looks great and has all the gizmos in it,will be getting one towards end of year

Isn’t it winter in Aussie land?
Sam B that’s what our winter looks like mate :)
Please test the reversing camera at night. The 2017 Limited model is blinded by the tail lights and is useless
0:35 he says Highlander? Maybe I misheard.
No you're not. In Australia, Santa Fe comes in 3 variants, the highlander is the highest spec, then Elite (Mid spec) and Active(Low spec). ]
Thanks for the clarification. US-spec version doesn't appear to be released yet as I still can't find any reviews.
Worst part is the cars hit dealers before pricing was announced and I can only find 2.4l units no 2.0t.
Yeah the top of range Santa Fe is called Highlander in Australia
Why split headlights though... Why stop at 2? Split it into a 10 piece headlight/ tail light

R Soul so this version is kind of that Diesel one in US which has optional 3rd row but this one comes standard with them. For 2019 I mean
Silent Refusal my statement still stands. Hyundai have done their research and that is what the market requested.
US will get a bigger one that is yet to be released.

You mentioned Highlander quite a number of times. Isn't the Highlander a Toyota?
AVF Lungwun highlander as a variant of Santa Fe. Not highlander as the model name.
Highlander is the variant. In Australia the Toyota Highlander is called the Kluger.
